So navigator is to be home ported year round in LA June next year.

The question is how does it get there from the Caribbean?

It can’t go through the Panama Canal as it’s to high.

So it’s around the bottom of South America or around the world.

Chilli, NOS too high? I have done Panama Canal twice on Coral Princess and Island Princess, they are Panamax vessels.  I was unaware of any height restrictions for the Canal, certainly beam restrictions.

The world's largest cruise ships will fit within the canal's widened locks, but they are too tall to pass under the Bridge of the Americas, even at low tide, unless the Bridge of the Americas is raised in the future. The Centennial Bridge is also a fixed obstacle, but its clearance is much higher: 80.0 m. Source

Everyone says it’s to high, not by a lot.

Sister ship Marina  couldn’t and they had to take it around the bottom of South America. I think someone said it took 6-7 weeks .

Maybe they can cut a bit off?

No, no, no, they will need to do what I suggest for our own Coathanger, everyone takes a bucket of water out. That does two things

1. Lowers the water level

2. The extra weight (all those buckets of water) make the ship sit lower in the water.

See that’s why they call me a nutter, see a problem, nut on it for a while. Come up with an answer that works on multiple levels.

Your suggestion may not be that insane Gut.

Apparently the problem is the bridge of the America’s.

Why couldn’t they build a lock under it and pump the water out for the occasional tall ship.

A new high level bridge is near completion at Batemans Bay, the old one is falling apart and has to be opened for boats, resulting in major traffic delays.

They can take Navigator via Batemans Bay.

Apparently last time RC took a ship around the horn it was very unprofitable.Ship capacity was 30%

The long way around the world would be more lucrative.

So serenade leaves us in Sydney early next season, I think it was February.

So it’s possible we may have Navigator of the seas in Sydney  March to May.

Just speculation.

Ovation coming into Tauranga in the morning.

Imagine those omelettes being cooked up in windjammer.

A side order of sausage and maybe a hash brown.

Why is it into NZ?
