When do you think Princess will cancel early July sailings?

I realise most on here are only interested in July sailings out of the USA but Enchanted Princess is supposed to have its inaugural cruise on 3 July out of Italy (Civitavecchia)

I spent a while on the Princess website today checking availability for the July cruises including my 14 night sailing on 10 July. I was staggered with the cabin availability for all categories and proposed sailings.

I can understand limiting capacity to satisfy protocols but with so few current bookings I just don’t see these July cruises being remotely viable.

If my cruise is happening then I’ll be aboard but would appreciate an update from Princess sooner rather than later.

We are booked on Enchanted for 7th August. Like you I am waiting for updates from Princess. Are they waiting for our traffic light list to be announced? I also not that they are home porting Enchanted in Piraeus from the 4th July. As Greece is likely to be on the green list are they edging their bets on where to home port her?

I am also concerned about getting a PCR test done before coming home. How can this be done while we are on the ship. Lots of questions, so few answers.

Not Princess yet, but it looks like NCL will be throwing in the towel on July sailings from the US:

(Bloomberg) -- Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd. Chief Executive Officer Frank Del Rio said July sailings from the U.S. are no longer possible, given the time it takes to get a ship ready to sail.

“The July U.S. launch, at least for our company, is just not possible,” Del Rio said, speaking on a quarterly call with analysts.

He didn’t give a specific timeline, but the industry generally has said that it needs 90 days to prepare a ship.

On another show he also mentioned August sailings with this tidbit:

"August is also in jeopardy and it’s all because of the disjointed guidelines from the CDC,” Norwegian Cruise Line CEO Frank Del Rio said on CNBC’s Closing Bell."

Well he is right. The CDC contradicts itself all over the place, especially for those who are fully vaccinated. I’m hoping the cdc brings its recommendations more up to date with the “science.”

We are booked on the July 3rd sailing of the Caribbean Princess, and I've read that several others here have booked early July sailings on the west coast.

Final payment is just around the corner.

Other lines have announced that they should be ready to sail by mid-July, but none of us have heard a peep from Princess.

When do you think they will announce cancellations (if any) of early July cruises? Before final payment (as in this weekend) or after?

Or....do you think they will try to sail as planned?

forward a week, and replace July 3rd with July 10th

After waiting for a long time on hold trying to speak with an agent at Princess, I just spent a few minutes chatting with one of their reps via their online chat option concerning the lack of communication regarding early July sailings, and if they'll sail or not, and I suggest that you do the same. It's my belief that the more people they hear from, the sooner they'll start communicating with us. My guess is that everything Princess says these days has to be cleared by a PR firm since the brand name was featured so heavily in the news during the initial onset of Covid.

During our chat I was polite, but I did express my total disappointment in the complete lack of communication about our sailing. I for one, do not like to be left in the dark.

I asked the rep to please pass on my thoughts and concerns to their customer relations department, and I was assured that they would do so.

She apologized for the lack of info, and I politely let her know that I'd much rather have an open line of communication instead of an apology.

We have a cruise to Alaska booked out of Seattle in August.  I'm trying to be patient but am very disappointed in their complete lack of communication regarding the status of our trip.  I'm fully aware of the limitations imposed on them right now by both our Canadian government and the CDC.  But we are coming up mid May I have to wonder how much longer they are going to make us wait.

Ours was an offer booked through the casino so not as easy to cancel without penalty.

In order to sail from a US port, each Princess ship will need to have a Conditional Sailing Certificate (CSC) issued by the CDC under the CSO. I called Princess and asked if any applications for a CSC were being prepared in Santa Clarita. I was told by multiple agents that they didn't even know what a CSC was, and after asking their supervisors, I was told to go to the CDC website. That is a poor answer, to say the least. My conclusion is that no one in Santa Clarita is preparing any applications for a CSC for any ship in the Princess fleet. If that is so, no Princess ships will sail from US ports for quite some time. At least until the CSO expires.

PS As a result, I canceled a Majestic Princess sailing from San Pedro on Oct. 23. I moved the booking out to May 1, 2023 .... maybe Jan can figure all of this out by then  After 26 voyages on Princess, I am very discouraged with Santa Clarita.

Port Canaveral had a vaccination event yesterday - On the news last night, the Port Director ? stated turnout was less than expected..

He also stated that there seems to be a 'new set of guidelines' from the CDC each Monday or so, nothing consistent , and he doubted if there would be any cruises before August, now ... sad

To HBCcruiser .... the question is .... has Santa Clarita applied for a CSC for Ruby Princess?

Good question. Princess has been very quiet on all of this, unless I am missing something.

I was hopeful that cruising would start in July.  But, at this time, I do not feel that it is likely we will see any cruising before labor day.

Sad to say, but politics has now trumped science.  I do think it is highly significant that President Biden has chanced the date for us getting back to a somewhat "normal" state from July 4th to Labor Day.

I doubt that the CDC will permit cruising to restart before then, unless on a highly conditional basis.

Hope I am wrong though.

Carnival is now cancelling July cruises. Anyone with a booking for July is getting the cancellation notice.

There has not been an official announcement yet but you know it is coming shortly.

Going back to the original topic, I think there are two things in play here.  Can Princess get clearance to sail in July, and can they get a way to do Alaska?

So I see it may be possible for the Ruby to sail sometime in July, but not the Emerald.

Also, I've been told from the moment they can start preparing, to when the can sail is between 60-90 days, so first week of July is out.

Here is the link to all of the cruises that have been canceled, listed along with possible replacements. It includes Europe, West Coast, and Caribbean cruises. I am surprised Alaska is not listed (yet). This happened yesterday.

My guess on Alaska is that they think that they'll be able to salvage part of the season, so are waiting to see how much they have to cancel.  I'm pretty close to 100% sure they will cancel the first couple of July cruises on the Emerald, partly because the CDC has indicated that mid July will be the earliest potential start for US ports.  So, to sail, they have to have both a workaround for the PSVA, and OK for sailing.  Won't happen by the beginning of July.

Abbydancer-

Someone just posted this link regarding Alaska. The two senators from Alaska have succeeded in getting this issue to the US Congress. There is still a chance for some Alaska cruises.

I think that supports my point, that they're waiting.  I think 7/3 is going to be cancelled because the CDC won't open Seattle in time.  I did mention to my mom that maybe we could go the last week of August, if the rooms we want are available.

Yes, hopefully waiting.

I just received an automatic reply from my Princess PVP stating they are prioritizing "dealing with cancellations through to Auguat 21". So I'm assuming most NA cruises through Aug 21 are cancelled.
