Happy birthday to DH (three weeks ago). This was my gift to him this year. Biggest smile I’ve seen on him in forever. We’ll be  dining on salmon tonight!!

Congrats to G.  For fish, birthday, and this:  He is now the subject of the post with the most likes I have ever seen on Princess board.

Definitely the highlight of the cruise. Dining room supervisor Jorge made it an event, and we had  more than enough to share with nearby tables. The silver (Coho) salmon was delicious.  Can’t  recommend the salmon fishing trip in Juneau highly enough. Princess does Catch to Cook so well.

Yay!!!! I absolutely LOVED Jorge when I had his last cruise!!!!!!!! He was amazing!!!! ❤️

And that dinner experience is definitely one to remember. Look at how delicious that freshly caught salmon looks. YUM😋

I was unaware of this salmon to table event.  Really cool.

Yes, it's one of the coolest highlights of am Alaskan cruise. I've done that excursion as well where you can go fishing for your catch where you can either get it cleaned up processed sent home to your house, or you do exactly what they just did they can send it to the ship clean it up and then they can prepare and cook it for you and serve to you as your dinner on the ship. I've done it where I have them cook it as well on the ship because how often do you get an opportunity like that in a unique one it is for sure!

I have a question that I don't think I've seen answered in the first 3 Live threads.  When you order from DineMyWay, do you tip whoever delivers it?  If so, how much?  I know in the past we tipped for Room Service; this seems different as you may not be in your room or carrying money.

Need to know whether to go to the bank again and get $1 bills.  DH doesn't think anyone wants to handle money anymore?

I am sure staff wearing gloves which they can change, therefore more than willing to handle money.  The only tips they can keep is that which comes in cash.    I even had staff in the Crown Grill on a former cruise tell me if I added a tip to the bill it went into the common tip all crew share.  So I gave them cash and will continue to do so.

Out our front window. Looks like sunshine ahead for our last full day of the cruise. Boy did this week go quickly!

Wow! I'll guess that you enjoyed your forward ginourmous balcony immensely. When it's good, it's amazing. But when it's not so good, you find somewhere else to hang out. All good. Thanks for the pics.

For this reason, we always bring an envelope full of $5 and $10 bills....

MTG is today at noon in Harmony. I’ll take photos but have my doubts about uploading. I’ve just tried for 30 minutes to upload the Patter, one page at a time, to this thread. It either times out or CC “loses” the post. I’m not buying WiFi next cruise. It’s really not worth the price on this ship on this itinerary.

MTG cutoff was 455 days.

Are there any extra charges for the Cook My Catch, other than for the excursion?

I think they are still working out the kinks. We had a much better MedallionNet experience on the Royal Princess for the Voyage of the Glaciers cruise in June 2019. Even our waitress said they were having problems with the Wi-Fi. I hope it is fixable and that all of the new features of the app haven’t bogged it down. Enjoy your special luncheon.

Does your decision about WiFi mean that you are not getting Princess Plus for the next cruise, which also includes the beverage package?  😉

We had almost the exact same experience on the Aug 1 sailing!  We were even sitting in the same section of the dining room (shown by the yellow arrow.  A couple from (I believe) the Houston area had gone fishing and caught a 20 pound halibut, prepared by the kitchen staff.  They even had the chef that prepared the fish come out and introduce himself.  It was obviously a big deal for the couple.  There was so much fish...they kept trying to pass it all around to the nearby tables.  In "normal" times I'm sure they would have had takers...not so much with these crazy times now.

Bring larger bills.  Customer service desk will break them down for you.  Or win in the casino....

Let’s put it this way…it’s 11:45am and I am finally showered and leaving the cabin for the first time today to go to MTG. I would not survive another week of the beverage package. I had maybe five drinks total during 18 months at home. Five from dinner to bedtime are killing me…but I simply want to try as many as possible. It’s all for research don’t you see?

No extra charges for cook my catch though I suspect a tip to the Dining Room Supervisor woul be appropriate.
