Thanks for the Fleet update and general info.

It’s National Dr. George Washington Carver Day! Great man. Came up with over 300 uses for the peanut. Found out the hard way after a nite of drinking that peanut butter can not be substituted as shaving cream 😀. Also didn’t Dr. Carver came up with the quote, “Sometimes I feel like a nut, sometimes I don’t.”

Also National Bird Day! Great timing as two eagle eggs are hatching in Florida. You can see it live from Ft Myers, first egg hatched at 8:22 pm last nite. Go to www.dickpritchettrealestate.com to view; over 183,000,000 views !

The eaglet has landed

Does she have an advanced directive for this situation?

@Quartzsite Cruiser and all,

My DSIL has been very private about her personal arrangements, so we do not know. At Christmas, and despite his memory challenges, my DH did try to chat with her about 'her wishes' and DSIL deferred saying her sons knew.

They may and she likely expected better of them, but their dislike for one another is coloring their thinking. My DH has tried to urge each to put their mother ahead of their feud. But DH is no longer capable of 'taking on' his nephews in strong enough terms to refocus them on their mother.

I am so glad my parents had Advanced Directives and that my brother and I never considered not following their well-known wishes. Their directives were their last gift to us; our following their wishes was our last gift to them.

It is my fervent wish that DH's nephews will similarly honor their mother.

We are onboard with no issues. Redneck Bob here is a picture of todays activities and pics of our Continental Suite. Can we spend 155 days in this cabin. We think so!  I’ll post some menu’s later but being a Hal thread will keep it limited.

Right now on a pool side lounger enjoying a Patron Pomegranate Margarita!

Life is great!

Good afternoon!  I had a dermatology appointment this morning and then the three of us went out for lunch. DGD Summer is going home tonight. Then I had to finalize our Hawaii cruise with our PCC. She had to explain to CO that I requested CO and that she didn’t “sell” it. I think she was going to tell me more but changed her mind. It’s a recorded line. Makes me wonder what’s going on. IMO, I’m sure part of the reason is that CO has been oversold and crowded. I know in October on the Nieuw Statendam we felt that it had been oversold, we had to wait many times especially for breakfast. Once we ended up going to the MDR instead. I’m wondering if they might just keep it for Neptune Suite guests in the future. I probably shouldn’t say anything about it here, but we are all friends.  I also find the cutback for Neptune Suite guests on the Volendam that @ottahand7 mentioned about no breakfast in the PG very interesting.

Bruce @aliaschief, your cabin is beautiful!  Enjoy.

@ottahand7, thank you for the update on Linda’s luggage @lindaler. I don’t think she has internet so may not post.

@Cat in my lap, glad you are onboard and enjoying the start of the World Cruise.

Annie @marshhawk, I’m enjoying the pictures of your cats.

@cunnorl, great job for your first time posting pictures. Did one of the kangaroos have a joey?  I think that’s what the babies are called.

Joy @Seasick Sailor, I hope you find Gerry.

I missed watching the sail away yesterday. Thank you to Vanessa @JazzyV for posting the picture and to those who posted on the sail away thread.

Have a great day everyone!

Thanks so much for the information. Wow, nice cabin; it is wide and spacious! I understand not posting much on a HAL thread; you don’t what to get kicked off 😀.

Dining times and showtimes reminds me of Oceania. Dinner starting at 6:30 pm and show at 9:30 pm. On one of our Oceania cruises the show was not until 10 pm.

In honor of Bird Day, I retrieved and refilled a feeder that had blown down. Thai curry soup would be OK with me, as would Roy's alternative, but I'm actually make a red lentil soup. Red lentils are often used in curries but the recipe I'm following is Greek-influenced. I had peanut butter this morning before I knew that it was George Washington Carver Day.

In other CC forums, HAL passengers have the reputation of lining up for dinner at 4:00 p.m. and going to bed at 8:00 p.m., and it is starting to sound as if HAL wants it that way. My only HAL cruise so far did not have what people claim are the typical demographics; it was the first week in January in 2020.

The TATL that I have booked will be my first cruise longer than 7 or 8 days, and it is interesting to read how people prepare for world and other very long cruises. I remember one blog, not from the current season, that described taking actual furniture (a shelf unit, to be assembled on board, and an inflatable ottoman, iirc), which felt a bit over the top to me, and then there's the one already discussed where they  purchased many cases of soft drinks at a warehouse store right before boarding. In the NCL forum, there used to be posts about being unable to survive without Coca-Cola, even in short cruises, because NCL served only Pepsi products, but NCL has recently changed to Coke.

I spent part of the afternoon setting up a website to offer marriage and lifecycle officiation, because four synagogues--the local one and three others in the region--are looking for new rabbis and this will be a problem for anyone planning a summer wedding. I suppose I will have to buy a respectable new suit, because everything I have is decades old (I stopped wearing that sort of thing for work in 1996). To be realistic, I get more calls for funerals than for weddings.

I am pleased that Demar Hamlin is improving but will keep him on the care list until he is breathing unaided.

Today's report is really awesome.  I can't believe it but he will come off the list tomorrow.

The Zaandam sailaway today is really awesome.  I watched the Miami webcam for @aliaschief but they got essentially no coverage and there were ample missed opportunities.

@Heartgrove I did an early February cruise on the Carnival Pride and think you should be ok unless things get really COLD,  I do wonder what Carnival is doing now about muster drill on the Spirit Class.  That COULD be cold if it's under the lifeboats.

@aliaschief What a lovely cabin! And, what a wise idea to do a trial run before committing to that cabin for 155 days. The desk + chest of drawers combination looks especially useful for your planned long voyage.

Your reports make me more convinced to take a closer look at Azamara when I (or if we) return to the sea. I look forward to hearing and seeing more.

Thanks,

-Melisa

I am late to the game today. It was busy and I am dead tired.

Most of the furniture is in the house.  Some pieces (like our bed) is not.

There are a gazillion boxes to be unpacked and it will take about 3-4 days to do that.

Soooooo we are looking to moving back home either Wednesday or Thursday next week.

The people from Service Master worked all day and I worked along side of them.

Right now there are too many boxes and things in the way.  So we will stay put for a few more days.

Tomorrow more of the same.

Good evening.  I finally have a chance to respond to some of the more recent posts after a busy day.

Tazi is a girl.  She is in love with the DH, sleeps behind his head on the sofa, and pushes me away from him when we are in bed sleeping.  However, if he falls asleep first, she demands that I pet her.  I wake up with her every morning pinning me to the bed.  She hates Furnando and keeps clear of the others.  She is THE cat.

Annie, my apologies to Tazi for calling her a him.  If I'd really thought about it, Tazi is a girl's name and Taz would be the boy's name.  I'll amend my comment.  Tazimis a bautiful girl.

Good (still barely) morning all!

Today is a red letter day for me! The last 2 worrisome trees were taken down today!! They would have caused immense damage if not worse if they had come down on our house.

They also took down 2 behind my neighbor’s house. She and I are doing the happy dance! She has been out of her house 2 months with another minimum of 2 more months because of the tree that came down on her house.

Thank you for your pictures of Falmouth.  DH and I spent a week there at the Trelawny resort in 1975.  I'm not sure if it's even there now.

In reality @Quartzsite Cruiser, all of my cats are "its."  Prerequisite to moving in.  Feral Fawn is fixed, but  while she looks lovingly at the door, came in once, and ran off as fast as she could.  Tonight Bobagingee has been flirting with her through the porch door.  She pays him no mind.  Tazi is sleeping in our bedroom, she sneaks down when she thinks Furnando (an absolute terror)  is asleep somewhere.

Thanks for the locations of the Holland America Line fleet, and all the daily information.

We have visited  Eden while on board Maasdam.

We had messages to do in town today, DH spoke to two passengers from the Noordam, he gave them directions to the shop that they were seeking.

@The Other Tom  thank you for posting the link to  the  @Scrapnanablog.

@marshhawk  your Tazi is a beautiful cat, very similar to the friendly cat next door to us.

Your room is lovely.  Thanks for posting the pictures.  How are those balcony chairs for sitting in?  I’m thinking they don’t want you out there lounging for very long.  😄
