Royal Caribbean, A Lie is a Lie

Perhaps this was just an oversight on an employee's part. Perhaps this was just filling both containers with milk as half/half was not available at the time or at that location.

The way to know for sure was to ASK.

While this may have been an annoyance (at best) and I get it, but it could have been rectified in real time.  I remember preparing a bowl of delicious fruit and beside the offerings was a large container of what I thought was whipped cream - turned out it was sour cream.  I plopped on a huge portion over my fruit, sat down, took a bite of peaches and "cream" - GAH!  I simply returned to one of the attendants, let them know what was happening and they corrected the error.

Calling it a lie, IMO, is an overreach.

I used to love RC too......   Please understand, they are purposefully misleading us.  I proved it onboard.   Over reach? no! Wool over as many eyes as they can? Yes!  Now we get to choose, do we still cruise RC?   They lie. Saying its half and half, when it never is or will be is a Lie.

I would agree except this has been discussed on these forums and it appears this “half and half” mislabeling has been fleet wide and consistent in Cafe Promenade, Main Dining Room, and Windjammer.  Mine is not an isolated incident, but a verification of the situation as has been repeatedly reported.

Hey, you're on the President's cruise.  take it to the powers that be!

I did not read every message but I don’t have an issue with the OP’s initial comment. The only comment I have is there are a lot of other cruise lines out there. If you are not happy with the cutbacks RCI has made, I would recommend cruising on another cruise line that better fits your needs.

Yes I did, several times.   On Alaska cruise in May. Finally the staff admitted they were told to say it was half and half when they do no longer supply half and half.  They lie.

It was a white lie 🥛.  If this issue is so important to certain people on here then take your business elsewhere and I’m sure you’ll find something to complain about there , too . It’s milk ! Be happy you have access to it .

I do feel its trivial tbh

However that said, labelling food wrong is a massive no-no. Many people with allergies cruise and its important to label any food correctly, so it is a valid point.

But royal have been bending the truth for many years, you only have to look at their "deals" to see how misleading the pricing is.

As for cut backs it has to happen. Massively in debt, new ships being built, inflation high, cost of living high, lack of trained staff high. Add all that together means they have to tighten belts and make cut backs.

I have already corrected the issues I have with RCI...which really grew an ugly head of cheapness since restart after Covid.

I am booking with other lines now, for the first time in almost 20 years.  Bye..bye RCI.

The cutbacks I missed the most last week on Allure:

1. The daily "classics" on the MDR menu, particularly the shrimp cocktail and the steak.

2. The 2nd cabin service - dirty dishes piled up in the hallways since the stewards weren't collecting them from the cabins twice a day. And we had to make more of an effort to manage the fresh towel situation with the hot/humid weather and need for extra showers. The turndown service was something special about cruising that I always appreciated, and I miss it now that it's gone. I know lots of people don't care, but that's just my opinion. Will I continue cruising? Of course.

When you're done with you're "dirty dishes" from room service you're supposed to call them and they will come and get them...do not leave them in the hallway.

This is the only admirable way to deal with it in the end.

People who continue to book cruises with a cruise line that they believe to be an unethical, dishonest company with no integrity are every bit as bad as the cruise line they profess to hate.

I hate it when rcl loyalists post rubbish like if you are not 100% pleased you should go cruise another line, over something trivial. It gets tiring to hear go cruise another line if every single thing isnt perfect. Over cream?? The OP noted what seems like another cutback. Why are people rushing to say go to another line if they post even a tiny negative. Very judgemental.

If it has even a smidgeon of "crab" in it, it can be labeled a crab cake...just sayin.  I like more crispy and bigger lumps of real crab, but I'll eat theirs any day...I love crab cake.  Unless you stood around inspecting the production line on crab cakes, you cannot make that definitive statement and be taken seriously.  In fact, I'm going to ask that question of the Head waiter in MDR next month, I'll report back on how much "crab" is in them.😉

My crab cake last night on Wonder, definitely had a lot of real crab; and was one of the better crab cakes I’ve had in awhile (I ordered a second and third)

What is a purpose to mislead you?  To make you angry so you won't book with them?

Are you familiar with Probability Theory.

If yes please try to apply it in this situation.

There is a difference between not 100% satisfaction and accusation in lies.

OP did not say he/she was upset over H&H. Statement was about shiny Lie!

What’s the point of the OP posting a negative comment? Nothing that the OP or anyone else posts on this site is going to change anything. The OP obviously has pretty strong feelings on this topic based on the length and tone of their post. If I felt like he did about RCI, or any business for that matter, I would take my business to another company.

If RCI is attempting to pull the wool over your eyes, you would be a fool to continue supporting them by continuing to sail with them.

If people would take a minute to read the comments, and replies, before posting they would see that this post is not about my not being able to access half and half.  It is about the historical and fleetwide intentional misleading of the customer as has been reported in these forums over and over.  My post is adding my anecdotal experience to that conversation

The "historical and fleetwide intentional misleading of the customer" is a narrative YOU have pushed in the previous half & half thread. There's no evidence this is intentional, and you try to avoid seeing that possibility by not even acknowledging it onboard to staff who could correct an UNINTENTIONAL error.

But it's good to know Cruise Critic clout is more important than your actual vacation.

And if you are CONVINCED this is intentional and malicious -- I'm sure they'd be a lot more likely to not label something half & half and just say 'we're out' -- imagine if you were on a cruise where the line's president and senior staff were present and somewhat approachable. Man, what an opportunity that would be.

I am reporting my anecdotal experience on this forum where it has been discussed in the past and I am adding verification of the mislabeling that appears to be fleetwide.  This post is not about my inability to manage the situation while aboard, but adding my perspective to a conversation of what appears to be intestinal misleading as has been discussed repeatedly on this forum.  If you aren’t aware of the historical conversations then this might not be obvious to you.

So it has been repeatedly reported, yet you felt a need to pile on your "verification" that it is intentional. Again, if you felt this way the logical thing to do would be to address it on the ship with someone who could actually verify or not. Obviously you are just posting to jab at RCI but unwilling to do anything but complain. So far it is just gossip.

So defensive!! I'm amazed people cant post facts without being attacked. I didnt say rcl couldnt make decisions based on money. You must be really blinded to not notice the cuts to help the bottom line. Dont put words in my mouth I didnt say. I get it you cant stand rcl to be negatively mentioned. Some good, mostly good, a few negative things. You guys with the loyal to royal attitude are a bit defensive.

I knew to stay away from this thread. Some loyal people cant stand the truth. Nothing is 100% all good, never negative.

I'm curious... were you looking in a mirror when you posted this?  I have no problem RCI (ANY company) being negatively mentioned.  What I have a problem with is people making their issues sound like "the end of the world", YET CONTINUE TO DO BUSINESS WITH THAT COMPANY.

Why would you continue to do business with a company that you (general) feel are LYING to you (OP's words, not mine)?

Why would you continue to do business with a company that you (general) don't think is providing a service equal or better to the amount of money you spend (see the threads about menu/dining changes and housekeeping cutbacks)?

So a company LYING to you (again, the OP's words) is "trivial"?

I've asked this before and I'm pretty sure I didn't get an answer... Why should Royal:

* Go back to twice a day housekeeping

* Get better service in MDR

* Get better food in MDR

* Provide H&H

When they are sailing the ships full?

I don't care if someone posts bad opinions about Royal, but then stick to it.  And you're right, no cruise is going to be 100% perfect.  But making claims about "lying" on a message board (again, OP is on the President's cruise, wouldn't that be a good time to ask TPTB what's goin on) or the "value of provided services" but then going back for the same thing just amazes me.

You keep repeating the same thing. Since you’re still on the cruise why don’t you complain to the big wigs and let them know how you feel. Maybe they will get it corrected. You can also let them know it’s been reported on other ships.

She could go and complain to the president, unless of course he isn’t on the ship. That would be a true misrepresentation.😉
