Help! Are all celebrity cruises for people over 55?

Sounds like you need to either not cruise together or try other lines to meet both needs - though I suspect if your need is more quiet and relaxing and their need is party party party there may not be one.

Just looking for a happy medium!   I can still retire early and they can stay out   They don’t party party party   They just like things to do

I think that age demographics are more related to itinerary than a particular ship. Shorter Caribbean cruises for example attract younger people more than 14 day itineraries since since retirees have more freedom to take longer trips.

Are you looking for a cruise that appeals to children and teens or are you all adults?

We are all over 40  I personally like to chill   A few of them like to go out at night and have entertainment some where

We are in our late 50s and were definitely on the younger side on our recent cruises on Apex, Constellation and Reflection. On the other hand, we were on the older side on our recent RCI cruises on Independence, Radiance, Freedom (x2), Explorer, Allure, Symphony and Icon.

Yes I have done 14 Royal cruises and I think that is a better line for nightly entertainment    I did enjoy celebrity though

Probably more shows, comedians , and bands that play till midnight is what they were looking for

I think E class is better for that, they still have the two shows per day.

But I have the app open right now for Apex (I'm on in two weeks) and can see

8pm has acoustic duo and a game show (there are other things but casino and shopping).

9pm music in the plaza, pub quiz, 9:30 show

10pm martini bar beats, music in the plaza, silent disco, jazz music

11pm martini bar beats and night club dj

However some nights you'll find shows in Eden which start around 10:30/10:45pm

Thank you   We did have some of those on Equinox also!   Enjoy your cruise!

RCI would be a much better choice for your friends. I like both RCI and Celebrity and cruise 1-2 times per month rotating between both lines. However, I still cruise more often on RCI because there is a lot more going on at night on their ships.

If age matters so much for your friends I wouldn’t try to convince them of anything…

However, if you really want to do Celebrity again try to explain to your friends why you want them to choose Celebrity…Ambiance? Dining? There must be some features that really appealed to you. You always have the option of deciding that what your friends want and what you want may not be the same.

It’s not the age it’s the entertainment tends to favor an older crowd!  We do all go our own ways some would just like more options at night

We went on equinox last February   We we’re a party of 6   I have been on 14 rccl cruises and couldn’t wait to try celebrity   I was  ok with it but the rest of my party was disappointed because they felt like it was  older crowd.   There were ballroom dancers at every music venue   All I heard was everyone was over 55, which I disagreed with.  Anyway onto next years cruise   No one wants to do celebrity because they feel it’s an older crowd   Can anyone give me insight as to a younger ship?    Was looking at Apex  but it will take some convincing so looking for some input!   I didn’t think it was that bad but they did!

You have many cruise lines that cater to a younger crowd. Carnival, Royal Caribbean, NCL , Virgin, etc.

Do you have a region or departure port in mind? That might help limit your options. My guess is the Caribbean would be your best option for nightlife and a shorter itinerary will attract fewer retirees.

Another consideration might be looking for something with lots of sea days. As an example, the people on a 12 night in Southeast Asia tended to turn in pretty early as it was a very port intensive trip with almost everyone leaving the ship very early for full day sightseeing tours in very hot weather.

That makes sense   Yes we sail the Caribbean usually 7-9 nights  thanks

We are E+ on Celebrity and D+ on RC and would agree that when it comes to range/variety of entertainment then RC wins. However, I can’t remember a cruise where we had nothing to do on Celebrity! After saying that, though, some evenings we are content just chatting at a bar or are happy star gazing on the balcony…Perhaps less active than some of your friends want!

However, I do wonder if on your last cruise you missed some of the events going on. Whereas on RC there are numerous announcements about shows and activities on Celebrity you need to check the ‘Today’. The small 1/2/3 people music events that move to different bars about the ship can easily be missed if you don’t look. Personally we prefer these to bigger shows.

It depends on where you are going. We are in our early/mid seventies, and that was probably the average age on the Apex transatlantic. Lots of canes, walkers, scooters. The one comedian referred to the passengers as "dusty," which was a pretty good description. Most just sat in the lounges at night, listening to music and staring into the air as they enjoyed their drink package.

If your friends were more observant they might have noticed that the older crowd were already in their cabins by 9pm. 😁

Wife and I are 60 and. 59..we always find something going on later in the evenings..be it a DJ or action at the craps table.  If you’re looking to party after 1 am or so, it may not be your jam.

I also find E Class ships to be a little younger crowd, especially 7 day Caribbean cruises..we have sailed Equinox a good bit too, and we also enjoy that class of ship.

I'd just like to point out that if one is familiar with the major ballroom dancing basics, they can fit in with just about any kind of music...and show up any of the younger "dancers" on the floor.

On the subject of age, the only demographic that I really perk up to is the children because cruising with tons of kids isn't really my jam.

I have found as I get older Celebrity is becoming more and more appealing.

We've observed the same. When we started doing Celebrity more than 20 years ago, we felt like the other guests were way too old. Now, in recent years, Celebrity must have changed. Now everybody is more our age. 😉
