Rare 1025cruise Posted December 11, 2019 #4 Share Posted December 11, 2019 Don't worry. Celebrity won't intentionally serve you something that will make you sick. 1
CHEZMARYLOU Posted December 11, 2019 #5 Share Posted December 11, 2019 We had Caesar salad on Equinox in November and again last night at a local restaurant. Saw it at our local supermarket today. Still alive and kicking. I know it is not to be taken lightly but it isn't something I obsess about.
CYNSport Posted December 11, 2019 #6 Share Posted December 11, 2019 It’s only Romaine lettuce from a farm in California that is affected. Romaine lettuce from other sources isn’t impacted and is available in many stores. . Calm down.

If any of their lettuce was from the California crop, be assured it is gone. They would not serve anything that would knowingly badly affect the guests.

Elusive_Cruiser Posted December 11, 2019 #11 Share Posted December 11, 2019 (edited) Currently on the Reflection, having boarded yesterday. While loading up on what was to be a great chef salad in the buffet, a lady commented about the romaine - I said "I doubt Celebrity would give you any product that would put you in their infirmary!" Watched a show last year 'Mega Ships' and they showed the galley operation, of interest was the processing of Romain and other greens used in salads... First they are cut/chopped up, then into a bleach bath (just enough bleach and long enough to get rid of any tiny nasties), then a final rinse, spin dry and ready for plating... sanger727 Posted December 11, 2019 #16 Share Posted December 11, 2019 Hopefully you will see romaine back in your stores too. We have krogers and romaine was pulled for a few weeks. Now it’s back with a sign that says it was sourced from Mexico.

California is a huge state and most lettuce from other growing areas is not affected. 1

I think when we hear of these issues a little worry is healthy. No place would intentionally serve tainted food. But it happens nonetheless. I'm glad to read of the steps taken. Thanks for sharing this info.

What fear mongering. While it may be one type of lettuce from one state. That lettuce was distributed to a third of the United States. The main stream media gave information to help individuals determine if they may have been impacted by this issue.

Yes, and while they're at it they often ignore small details and exaggerate others to create "the sky is falling" sensationalism.
chengkp75 Posted December 13, 2019 #23 Share Posted December 13, 2019 Just to add that cruise lines are required to immerse all "ready to eat" foods like produce in a chlorine solution prior to prep or serving, to prevent this kind of outbreak. 1
