andrewsjerrypat Posted January 31, 2020 #1 Share Posted January 31, 2020 (edited) Was in Chick Filet A this morning and the asst. manager told us that Chick Filet A's Corporate Office has chartered two cruise ships for All of their owner/operators next week. The CEO will be going back and forth between the two ships in a helicopter. Does anyone anyone kmow the ships or itinerary? The Asst. Manager also told us that Coproate Chick Filet paid extra to have all alcohol on the ship removed and not available for sale Thanks, Patrick Edited January 31, 2020 by andrewsjerrypat Spelling

ducklite Posted January 31, 2020 #5 Share Posted January 31, 2020 I used to work for a company that took the top sales people on a 3 day Carnival cruise every year. They had to share cabins and other than their cruise fare and airfare (and were expected to drive to port if six hours or less) nothing was included. They had no choice to not go or to take the cash instead. What a way to motivate your team said no one ever. 1

Assuming the rest of what you were told is accurate, I would highly doubt and would seriously question this. Helipads on cruise ships are there for emergency use only and not for regular landings to ferry executives back and forth. Besides, they don't have the facilities on board to house, maintain, or refuel a helicopter - where would the helicopter be kept between flights? I think someone is a bit misinformed. Joebucks Posted January 31, 2020 #7 Share Posted January 31, 2020 Sounded like lots of fun until the alcohol was removed. It's such a shame to see what corporations have turned into. They are all so scared of the slightest ounce of negative publicity that this kind of restriction isn't that off the wall anymore. I've worked for a big company long enough to watch all of the fun go away with this new woke era. With that said, I would still very much be grateful for such a trip. It is still a large investment from the company and eons better than going to work for that period of time.

Cruseforme Posted January 31, 2020 #11 Share Posted January 31, 2020 Every year Chick Fil A sponsors a cruise for all owners and operators aboard a cruise ship. For the 2019 year it was held on the RCCL Oasis. The 2020 ship and date have not been announced at this time. The Chick Fil A Foundation also announced the 2020 priorities for giving, addressing child homelessness, hunger and education: https://thechickenwire.chick-fil-a.com/news/chick-fil-a-foundation-announces-2020-priorities

lifes-a-beach Posted January 31, 2020 #14 Share Posted January 31, 2020 I gotta say, for all the talk about adult only cruises, I'd be just as interested in an alcohol free cruise. A bunch of drunk adults are on a whole different level of unpleasant than the same number of even not-too-well behaved children.

One is leaving today on Navigator of the Seas. EDIT: Can't tell if these fully take over the ship or not, upon further review. Rare Ferry_Watcher Posted February 1, 2020 #18 Share Posted February 1, 2020 Last season we had a Christian group that chartered HAL's Amsterdam (Alaskan cruise out of Seattle). The casino was closed, and there was no alcohol served during the cruise.

A line which would give up its alcohol revenue as well as its casino revenue would have to charge an unusually high premium to operate simply on fares - which would probably repel fundamentalists - somehow, it does not ring true.
Rare Ferry_Watcher Posted February 1, 2020 #20 Share Posted February 1, 2020 I actually work at Pier 91, so I have first hand knowledge. It was probably the the most passengers we had all season on that ship. There were lots of families - many rooms had parents with kids so there were lots of staterooms that had 3-4 people (adults & kids). The same Christian group also had a partial charter earlier in the season, but there was no bar or casino closure on that cruise. There was also an Olivia Charter (women), and a gay (male) charter this past season on the Amsterdam. As a staff member I have to say that all the charter passengers were lovely to work with. They might not sell alcohol on a complete charter but you are correct there would not have regular helicopter trips between two ships or even between land and a ship. The helipads are only for emergencies and using them otherwise would not happen. A lot could go wrong and they won’t endanger a ship unless it was an emergency. I have been on twice when a helicopter landed and it was a major operation to carry out.
