Employers need to do the right thing and pay these people.  I would.

yeah apparently you have never owned a small business. No way I could afford to pay one of my 4 or 5 employees for two additional weeks.

I disembarked the Diamond Princess on the day the coronavirus passenger embarked (Jan 20).  However,  I have wondered whether any passengers on the Jan 6 - Jan 20 became ill on the cruise or have come down with an illness after the cruise - or if there has been any follow up with the passengers from that sailing.    My cabin mate was ill on the ship and is still recovering - she has not been tested for the virus and seems to be responding to antibiotics which indicates a bacterial vs viral infection.

are you saying no one from Princess has contacted you???

David Abel is reporting again on his facebook....he reports that the passengers have not been told about the additional 10 cases and now they are wondering if the quarantine will be extended to 14 days from today or how this will work. Yikes...he is begging the captain to keep them more informed. They got this info from Japanese news.

CNN news is reporting the extra 10 case plus 171 still outstanding awaiting test results. So sad for the passengers on board I hope they try and keep their spirits up and get them some better supplies and some other form of entertainment if stuck in cabins.

entertainment if stuck in cabins.

Princess said something about this in a recent tween an hour or so ago.

I struggle to understand what those in-room activities and entertainment options are. Decks of cards and chips from the casino and TV on demand? What else could there possibly be?

i think the passengers would like more info from captain...if cases keep being found they will be out there forever. also David Abel reports that they were out at sea last night and the ship was really rocking and rolling all night. Of course they are cancelled Feb. 20th probably many more.

Easy for an outsider to say.  I don't smoke, never have, but these folks are in an incredibly stressful situation right now, and to offhandedly comment like that is not helpful to anyone.

If you have never smoked why are you even commenting?

As a former smoker knows the ideal time to give up smoking is when there is no social pressure from others to smoke and no access to other smokers and no access to cigarettes.

Have 2 friends onboard and messaged with them tonight. They said yesterday was brutal - nothing brought to drink and a dry sandwich is all they had to eat.

Today they had juice and tea, stir fry for lunch and stew for dinner.

They have a balcony thankfully and are out doing jumping jacks now trying to get media attention. Gotta make the best out of it.

No word on any future cruise credit, OBC credit, etc yet.

They could do use do a trivia session on the morning show channel for example as well as similar activities.

I would not be surprised if Princess pulls the ship out of Asia after the quarantine is over.

Change 'Asia' to 'China for the time being' and I agree. Already switching Shanghai to Japanese port TBD

I couldn't help but laugh out loud when I read that. What kind of In room activities in a tiny inside cabin?  Entertainment yes via free internet.

For those of you trying to imagine what it would be like in an inside cabin, this Australian  ABC news report includes pictures of a family of 4 quarantined in their inside cabin.

My thoughts are with them. I don’t think I could cope.

My thoughts are with all the families of four in an inside cabin like the one shown.  Imagine four people trying to eat their meal all delivered at once, at odd hours.

Even the ones in balcony cabins remind me of living like battery hens, as the balconies are so small on Diamond Princess.

I hope they can find a way to get those in inside cabins out on deck for some fresh air - even if they have to do it one family/cabin at a time. 14 days stuck inside with no fresh air cannot be healthy.

I agree.  Surely they can take people from inside cabins out for a walk in the fresh air.  I have been on ships and ferries where they even take the dogs out for a walk on deck!

It has certainly turned me off cruising in an inside cabin again.

According to David Abel they will be allowing passengers in cabins not having a window that opens to walk around a certain area of the ship with masks on.  This was in his latest video that he uploaded about 20 minutes ago.

These are being provided for kids on the ship...

I absolutley do not see why anyone should remove their tipp- first of all it was given for the previous two weeks, which according to David Abel , was a terrific service. Secondly the staff is hit as hard - even more so as the passengers!

I thing Princess is handling the given situation exidingly well. That all is a first for them- as Mr. Abel so aptly mentioned!

The kit for the little ones is also a nice treat!

I am so glad for those in cabins without balcony that they can now- at least for little bit- get out in the fresh air!

This situtation is totaly without any doing of the cruise line!
