I did add a little sour cream. I did learn not to overstuff as it will ooze out the ends - but that also makes it extra yummy. Next time I make them I may skip the sour cream and add more cheddar cheese. That is what I was thinking. Skip sour cream. When I make poppers the cheese will sometimes ooze out but I like to eat that cheese. I found, at least when I make them, that the Philadelphia cream cheese does not ooze as much as cheddar so when I have more cream cheese than cheddar it does not ooze as much.

Arthritis in the hips is very painful. I take it the next big step would be hip replacement. From what I hear it's less painful than my knee replacement. Right now my other knee is really giving me fits. I may need to get it replaced soon too. I'm not looking forward to that at all. 2

LOL As for the rest of it, I've always thought that the invitation thing was backwards. Should send the formal invitations out once the date/venue is in place, many months in advance. Then people can put it on their calendars and RSVP at that time -- get your firm numbers right then so you can plan on everything else based on those numbers. Then a month or so before the wedding, send out the "reminder" postcards with any updated/changed info, explicit directions to the venue, etc. Maybe suggest to Micheline that she recommend a "hybrid" invitation plan. The younger kids are all about the digital, while the older crowd is more traditional -- why not do both? Go through the guest list and try to think of what each individual would be more likely to prefer... do formal invites for the grandparents, aunts/uncles, older family friends, etc., and do the e-vites for the younger guests. Saves money on not having to print and mail as many formal invites, and also caters to the digitally-minded folks. I'm curious about the cake-cutting, though -- is she not wanting to serve cake at all, or thinks that she has to participate in the face-smashing aspect if they do an official cake-cutting event at the reception? The face-smash has been falling out of favor over time, and if you pay all that money to have a beautiful cake made, it would be a shame to not have pictures of the bride and groom with the cake. Okay, nosey old biddy rant done! 😉

Rare aussielozzie18 Posted November 7, 2022 #77135 Share Posted November 7, 2022 @bobmacliberty im also curious the reason why they have dont wish to cut the cake (is it the type of cake they are serving?). Also, curious what other traditions they are negotiating? Re cake cutting. When my parents renovated their house, a long steel ceremonial sword immaculate in it’s sword case was discovered by the builders. My dad displayed it in the house on the wall. When we were planning our wedding, dad suggested we use the sword to cut the wedding cake. Mum was very quick to nix that idea!

When I say we, I really mean Micheline and our daughter, but all of the important stuff is booked. A few more details to finalize with the venue but nothing urgent. We're having a "discussion" about traditional vs. modern day wedding etiquette. Everything about the wedding is online on The Knot web site they've created. There's info about the ceremony/reception, hotel info, the gift registry, background info and pics about how they met, info about the weeding party, the ability to manage RSVPs, etc. Our daughter wants to send out nice postcard like "hold the date" cards in the next couple of weeks but also use those cards to tell people to RSVP on The Knot. The hold the date cards essentially replace the more formal invites that typically don't get sent until a couple of months before the wedding. Our daughter will just send email reminders (which she can do from The Knot) reminding people to RSVP as needed. I like the idea of letting people RSVP early...why wait until right before the wedding? But I'm not sold on skipping the formal invitations. She's also not sure she wants to "cut the cake" and a few other more traditional things during the reception. That's all for her and Micheline to decide. I'm not getting involved. I wasn't born yesterday. We attended one of my nieces wedding in Florida this year and nephew in Denver , they both had cool save the date that had there pictures and was a magnet we have both attached to our fridge . All I had to do for my wedding was show up and pay for it 😁😁. 3

That more or less matches what I've been paying (rounded up): July 202 was $2.05 Dec 2020 was $2.52 Oct 2021 was $3.24 Nov 2022 is $5.40 My local home heating oil supplier that I've been using for 20+ years had be bought out by a larger company this past year so I just figured the new company was a rip-off. But after calling around a few other places and seeing what you've posted, everyone seems to be within a nickle of one another.

A few of the more recent wedding I've attended, they had done away with the throwing of the flower bouquet & garter belt. And is the reason for not doing the cake cutting is to avoid the cake-in-the-face routine? That makes sense. A lot of money is spent on a dress, professionally done makeup and tux rentals. I wouldn't want to ruin those either. 1 hour ago, aussielozzie18 said: Re cake cutting. He only gets 15-30 minutes outdoor max and not every day. And only when we are outside with him. But as a few people here on CC warned me , as he gets more comfortable with the outdoors, it might be hard to keep him inside. We've started to notice some of that recently. He is still mostly timid - as evidence of his running away from a gang of rouge Japanese red maple leaves. But in the past he'd always run alongside us when we went back in the house. Now, he tends to linger in the back yard until we call him or shake his bag of goody treats to lure him back inside. Or sometimes, he'll run to the door and meow non-stop as to say "Let Me Out". Its' really cute when he does it around midnight. Not! I'm thinking the first time he experiences freezing rain, that will dampen his enthusiasm. (pun intended).
