Sunshine3601 Posted May 29, 2023 #94551 Share Posted May 29, 2023 Thankful for the beautiful weather we are having this weekend. Looks like tomorrow will be another good one. @Ozark_Kid My vegetable garden is all planted. I have to set up the stakes tomorrow. I planted about 3 weeks later than last year but last year I ended up having to replace a couple of plants due to an early May frost. We should be all clear of frost now. I bet your plants are thriving, especially since you have Kenzie giving them lots of smiles and lots of love 🥰 Yesterday Eric and I power washed the house and used the surface cleaner on our patio pavers. Then we used the full pressure to remove some of the grout/sand as it was getting yucky. This morning we put down 24 bags of mulch and have another 12 to go. It sure is nice having a SUV this Spring to pick up the mulch from Lowes. They have Scott's perfect color on sale for $2/bag this weekend. We find using the bags so much easier than getting mulch dumped into the driveway as that always seems like a never ending pile. Of course the easier route would have to been to hire someone but I enjoy gardening. Although my feet and back are a bit sore tonight. Time for another Mojito. We grilled some nice thick filet mignons, baked potatoes and corn on cob for dinner. Eric grilled the filet's perfect. Sorry no food porn. I forgot to sneak a photo before we began eating. Eric is not a fan of me taking photos of food. This afternoon Eric did half then I did the other half of re-applying new polymeric sand for the pavers. Looks great but we have to wait 24 hours before we can put patio furniture back in place. Then I can plant my flower pots for the patio. I hope everyone is enjoying their Memorial Day weekend. Tomorrow I will honor my Father for his service in the Korean War. Thank you everyone past and present for their service in the Military. 17

Ohhhhhhh, different memories. 🙂 Gotcha! That makes sense. "Bubbles", the "Gentleman's Adult Lounge".....and I'm using the word Gentleman very loosely.... might have been shutdown by the time you moved to Rockland. It was in the 1980's and I'm pretty sure they were closed down for some less than legal activities. Have you heard of those classy, high-class strip clubs where guys take their wives and girlfriends to? This was the complete OPPOSITE of that. Some of my friends even refuse to even admit they went once, just to check it out. They were located on Rt 59 in Nanuet and were replaced by......I kid you not....a Tuxedo rental store.

Men really are from Mars and Woman from Venus. But I do remember the Bubble Boy episode from Seinfeld and well as the movie "The Boy in the Plastic Bubble" with John Travolta? I was leaning towards Home Depot as they have $2 for a 2.0 CU FT. bag of mulch (Virigor) vs $2 of the 1.5 CU FT of the Scott's Perfect Color at Lowes. Normally Home Depot would be the hands down winner (more product that the same price) but it's in a very heavy traffic part of town so I might just do Loews I only had a driveway dump of mulch once and I got waayyyy too much. I think I spend the summer trying to give it away to neighbors. Never again although I'll probably make 3 trips to the store to get the right amount. I'm really bad at judging things like that. Traffic to and from Colts Neck was a little more than we expected. I don’t know how the Jersey Shore people do it every week😳 Back in the days when I used to go to Beach Haven, NJ on LBI, it's an almost 2 1/2 - 3 hour on way drive but at times it could stretch to almost 6 hours. All I can say is thank god the Garden State Parkway has full service rest stops every 20 miles. When I could, I'd arrange my travel around peak driving time. Being a night owl, I'd favor night time, leaving my house around 10 & rolling in around 12:30 am. Roads were still somewhat busy and man-o-man, that drive was dark. Especially thru the Pine Barrens. Other times, I'd leave at 4:30 am which was kinda nice. Watch the sunrise as I drove down the parkway and rolling onto LBI and grabbing breakfast just before the morning rush kicked into high gear.

Coralc Posted May 29, 2023 #94561 Share Posted May 29, 2023 (edited) East Coast stuff is so interesting and different! Things like the Barrens and the Kills, which I have read in books, but have never seen. Met Life stadium has a lot of rules. And you just move quickly through other states. And all of the other things that are so fascinating. I truly appreciate everyone on this thread. 😊 It gives me an appreciation and sense and enjoyment of other places. And @HBE4 if you do get the opportunity, please take a photo of the turtle signs. We both cracked up when I told Bill about them. (Edit: Never mind, I can probably find the knee high turtle signs online, too.) 😊 We used to have newt crossing signs in one of the parks. But now they just close the road during newt breeding season. Edited May 29, 2023 by Coralc

Rare brillohead Posted May 29, 2023 #94565 Share Posted May 29, 2023 I have friends who just finally got their first pet ever (and these people are my generation!!!). Their daughter is still living at home while she goes to college, and she just took in a cat that she had babysat before when the owners could no longer keep her. So of COURSE I had to offer them a bunch of cat-related memes! 😂 4
Rare h20skibum Posted May 29, 2023 #94566 Share Posted May 29, 2023 In case you are wondering what to do with your old Christmas tree, you could always make it an event. My daughter’s neighbor brought their tree over to their campfire to give it a proper send off. I thought this was hilarious, but that is my sense of humor. IMG_7401.mp4 Hopefully, I uploaded the mp4 version so OB can see it. 1

My brother has been fighting the frost problem in Northern Ohio. Friday I used the drip system for the first time and it worked great. 10 days ago I was surprised to find 5 tomatoes starting so soon. Today I counted 170! The accountant in me 😆. I harvested some broccoli last week. Tomorrow I plan to pick my first kohlrabi. Kenzie was visiting here Friday. She was working on her driving skills. The back of her hair is getting so curly.

You get "stuck" in the quote box while trying to reply and can't get out. I think it's due to accidentally clicking in the quote box before typing something outside the quote box. There is therefore no empty space outside the quote box where you can click. The only solution that I've found is to delete everything in the quote box, and then the quote box itself, and then refresh the page. I can then start over. It's a bit of a pain so I am VERY careful now with hitting the enter key before typing or clicking anything when quoting someone. This puts a blank line below the quote box so that I always have someplace outside the quote box to click, and I like the blank line of separation after the quote box. 4

Jack is again making noises about visiting Israel, but airfare is so expensive. If we do visit, we'll have to cancel Bella 02. But, we're just in the talking stages every few months. It's been way too long since Jack saw his twin sister and we have 10 great grand-nieces/nephews we've never met. Not sure I mentioned that Jack's sister's granddaughter's spinal stroke is attributed to the covid vaccine. We have no idea what the positive indicator was, but the doctors are all in agreement. She's categorized as permanently disabled, can walk for short spurts with a walker and has gone back to school with an aide by her side wherever she goes. My heart goes out to her, so young. 16! Sometimes I really am unsure of what I should post in here, but I know I'm among friends. I am sorry to learn about the young girl. My prayers are with her. An acquaintance of mine had similar reaction, but only in one leg. She is OK now, but not her old self. Another woman I know had the exact thing. OK now but not her old self either. The doctor she went to was treating several similar cases in women of all ages, attributed to the vaccine... ..A sports team of young girls. I am in NO WAY running the vaccine down, we have taken them and the boosters, but I have heard of many such cases and it does raise questions and concerns to which no one has very definitive answers. Sorry, not sparking any discussion, so no one of authority or not, think it as so or slap any wrists. Thank you please.🙏 Edited May 29, 2023 by Arzeena 6
