Great pictures especially the Northern Lights, something I doubt I will ever see in person. @dani negreanu Dani, I'm sure you're having (or had if you're back home) a wonderful time in Amsterdam with your beautiful family. I know it will be (was) so hard saying goodbye. I have a painful tooth saga. My regular dentist referred me to an Endodontist for root canal on 2 teeth. Long story short, both really have to be extracted. Regular dentist doesn't pull teeth and gave me a few referrals. The one I chose, looked 21 and when asked, informed me she was practicing dentistry for 1 year. I told her I would think about it and asked if she could prescribe a pain killer for now. Imagine my surprise when she told me she wasn't certified to prescribe meds. Huh? How is it possible for her to pull teeth and not prescribe antibiotics or pain meds? I heard enough, didn't ask questions, just thanked her, walked out and found a dentist on referral who has been practicing more than a year and is certified to prescribes meds. It should have been a wake up call when I checked the young dentist bio on the group website and she wasn't listed. I asked the front desk and was told she worked out of a different location and was filling in while one of their dentists was out on maternity leave. Sorry for such a long story for two such little teeth!🦷🦷 I hope you find relief soon. It is hard to find a good Dentist. Sending best wishes for success with your extractions. I was sad to hear our Dentist is retiring end of this year.

My current dentist wants to do a bridge over an area that just last year said he could just replace the filling. I also go to a periodontist and asked for second opinion he siad therre is a harline crack but did not seem to thing it needed a crown right away. I just think dentists are a bunch of money grabbers. I'm with you... I haven't had a dentist I liked since we moved from Canada. We had good luck before back in BC, I had one for 20 years and then the second one for about 5 years, until we moved full-time south. I'm on my second one since moving and I'm done with this one now too. I'm overdue for a cleaning and check up and need to find a new one but that is something just way to easy to put off.

Rare Tree_skier Posted September 21, 2023 #103682 Share Posted September 21, 2023 Thanks to all who helped with the movie selections. I went a different direction… I just signed up for Britbox.com and am binging a show called Shetland. It about a small town as Scottish detective. Very interesting story so far.

He told me his dentist gave him a price to fix it and a price to extract it. The man could not afford the price to fix it so the molar was pulled. I felt so disgusted that a dentist would pull a salvageable tooth over money. This happened years ago and I remember it clearly to this day and feel just as disgusted now as I did then. I can't imagine ever tailoring a patient's medical care based on his/her ability to pay for it. This happened to Eric as a late teen, young man. He inherited horrible teeth from his Father and the cheap easy fix was simply pull it. He has several pulled over the years. I keep telling him it's time to get some implants or dentures but he just keeps avoiding, which I understand as he enough other medical stuff in his life.
Sunshine3601 Posted September 21, 2023 #103685 Share Posted September 21, 2023 Eric and I are both casino slot players. Him more than me. He has been doing well this cruise but I have been doing the up and down dance. We just had a really nice experience. While playing a slot machine he was on last night the casino host walked up to him and asked if he was missing a ticket from last night. He said yes, when he got back to the cabin he realized he didn't have it and went back to the machine as it was for $1300+ noone was at the machine and no ticket so he came back to cabin upset. Casino host said someone turned it in right after he left the machine last night so they viewed who played and held it at the cashier desk for Eric's return tonight. We asked if they knew who turned in the ticket so we could thank them with a reward but she didn't know. So nice when something like this happens. The world still has plenty of good people. And on cruise ships. We wish the finder best luck!!
Husky1987 Posted September 21, 2023 #103686 Share Posted September 21, 2023 So our next door neighbor/dog groomer noticed our Stevie had some flaky skin stuff in her fur a few spa days back, and suggested we get her tested for allergies. It was never bad, she doesn't spend a lot of time scratching/itching, but we did anyway. The verdict? Our goodest girl is allergic to bee venom and.....dust mites. So basically she's allergic to air LOL. We started her on some meds, and have a couple air cleaners going 24/7 in the house, but the vet said dust mites are something you can't completely eliminate, so we're doing what we can to minimize the problem at least. My wife is kinda bummed that she's going to have to figure out a plan B for the honey bees she wants to keep starting in the next couple years....

You get in the water at point A and the water current "carries" you over the sights below water. No real effort required to swim...especially if you're floating on a noodle. Just stick your face in the water and watch the ocean floor go by. We had a woman traveling with us who had never snorkeled before and was somewhat afraid. She floated on a noodle and they had a guide essentially with her the whole time. She ended up loving it. The downside to drift snorkeling is that you leave the water at point B, which can be a ways away from point A if you're drifting for a while. With the Water Taxi, they stop at No Name Beach so you can drop off your belongings, then you get back on the Taxi and they take you around the corner of the island so you can jump off and start the drift snorkel (they usually do this for the first two Taxi runs of the day). You end up at No Name Beach about an hour and a half later. There's no extra charge for this.

Thank you! The interior demo has started. Unfortunately, as you can imagine, the engineering/county permit process is awful and full of bureaucracy so who knows how long that’ll take. They can work on the interior but really the biggest thing they need to do upfront is take off the roof, replace the burnt trusses, and put on a new roof. Hopefully that can be done before the weather really turns to full time rain here in Seattle. Thank you for asking!

Hopefully your insurance company is cooperating with everything else that must go on for the repairs. Isn't it amazing how much needs to be done after a fire. If I remember correctly it started with an outdoor bush and/or mulch. Nothing is easy these days but I'm sure it will be beautiful when all done. My neighbor across the street had an electrical fire Christmas 2022 and took 7 or 8 months for everything to get done. The house is now gorgeous as I'm sure your home will be too. The most frustrating part has to be living somewhere temporary.
Coralc Posted September 21, 2023 #103692 Share Posted September 21, 2023 Quick story about my lovable dentist. I started seeing him when I was 12, and he retired when I was 62. When I had 3 crowns and was looking at my fourth, he said, "Well, THEY used to put these large fillings in back teeth, and they expand and contract." I looked at him and said, "You put them in." He rolled over to my file, and rolled back, and said, "Oh yes. Sorry. We have had a long relationship." 😀 He was really nice, and a cruiser. We talked more about cruising than dental issues. He made me think about an Amazon River cruise. I think that would be really interesting. ☺️

It is a bit "rough" looking in places with ugly (for lack of a better word) warehouse-apartment buildings etc., but it has pretty spots and clearly the coastal and snow-covered mountainous areas are very pretty. They could do quite a bit to improve tourism if they wanted to... 1

I always read your St Marten posts, kraken, tiki stuff and drink posts to Dh and now he occasionally asks me "how is your drinking buddy Greg". 😆😁🤣 3
