Royal Caribbean Cruisers -- How Are Things Where You Are? (was "Routine" 😁 day in lockdown... how was yours?)

When I was a kid, my mother would buy those bags of 1 inch square soft caramels.  I ate them all the time.  She really did not get after us to brush our teeth much, and never heard of flossing.  Naturally I ended up with 8-10 fillings that had to go in as I got older.  Those fillings get old and cause cracks too.

Since I turned a more responsible teenager...I brushed after every meal and flossed every night.  Since then...only cracked teeth...no cavities.  But the cracked teeth are trying to take over.  😞  Growing old never fun for teeth.  😮😉

I cracked a crown in San Juan while in town for lunch during turn around day on one of our last pre-Covid cruises.  Was on a very hard Tostone that was over cooked and hard as a rock.

That must have been awful especially on a cruise.

I had a broken jaw when I was 17 which was wired together for 6 week's.

After that I had to have a lot of fillings.

Sometimes eating toast or a soft caramel Mars Bar would pull the fillings out.

I think we talked here, maybe a year ago, about a 10 year old girl named Nandi Bushell who challenged Dave Grohl from the Foo Fighters to a drum off via YouTube (original video here).  Dave playfully went back and forth with Nandi over a few videos before finally admitting defeat and declaring Nandi the winner.  About a week ago, she had the chance to play on stage with the Foo Fighters at the Forum in LA.  I can only imagine what it must have been like for her to hear thousands of fans screaming her name.  The look on her face in the thumbnail image below is priceless...sheer joy combined with sheer terror.

There are a few other videos online of this (of course).  This alternate angle video has a little better quality audio and may be better for you drummers out there to see Nandi's technique??

Separate trip for same root canal?  Ouch...must be a tough one.  🤕

Not uncommon from what Eric's dentist said.  He had root canal done on same tooth in 3 visits too.    Sounds very painful to me and hope I never have to have done.

My Dentist keeps saying I should get my wisdom teeth pulled as preventative maintenance but I keep avoiding, covid has been my excuse for last couple of visits.  If it's not broke leave it be is my thought.

I cracked a tooth on a piece of hard-as-a-rock rice at a Hibachi restaurant 2 days before a 2-week repo cruise. I was in a full panic. I called my dentist as soon as they opened the next morning and he got me in an emergency time slot to get a crown. He has a machine that makes them right in the office. Talk about relieved!

Bucky and I have appointment coming up next week once we are home.  Cleaning...but I am still having issues with one of the crowns (IMHO should have had root canal in that one before she put the crown on...but was not offered that or suggested. 😞 ).

Sorry that you are having issues and hopefully it can be easily taken care of. My kids tell me that I over react to a lot of things and I love my dentist and doctor but if I need something and there is a specialist in that field that's where I go. Maybe a second opinion at an endodontist?

It was a small crown, and fortunately had had a root canal before it went on.  No pain at all, but boy did I look funny when I smiled.  😮  Was able to get in right away to have it replaced when we returned.

Easy peasy compared to breaking my foot the very first night on week long Brilliance cruise 2 years ago.  🤕

Me too.  My dentist wants to pull my healthy wisdom teeth...I have three left, one was taken in my 20s since it was impacted.  But they are healthy and have been with me for 50 years.

Ocean Boy actually was the one that questioned having the one pulled that I was going to go ahead with...I agreed ....and cancelled it.

My old dentist had one of those machines.  It was great!  Just hung around in his office for an hour or so until the machine finished.  One appointment from pull to crown.  🙂

My new dentist...supposedly being the high tech dentist office it claims to be...sends the form out...so stuck with temporary for two weeks.  😣

That might have to happen.  Thanks.

I have 4 wisdom teeth left.

Growing up my parents did not have dental insurance, and getting wisdom teeth out were only for those who got braces/or had dental insurance.

I never got braces, although I needed them.

At soon to be 65 years young, hope these teeth stay healthy.

Stay safe

TSOTD is of the singer who in my opinion had the greatest influence in music. He was not the best singer but his name will be known for all time.

This tee shirt was bought for me by one of my daughters in the Czech Republic. The words on it are words that I have no idea of their meaning and I never looked them up but I can guess. The picture on the shirt is of John Lennon.

In my opinion, chopped liver does.

It's chopped, consistency  like a pate you put on crackers.  Lenny said he will post the ingredients on Thursday.  I never made the faux or real chopped liver myself.

I told my wife that I wanted to post the recipe.I will do it later today

The Last Battle

If it should be that I grow weak,
And pain should keep me from my sleep,
Then you must do what must be done,
For this last battle cannot be won.
You will be sad, I understand;
Don't let your grief then stay your hand.
For this day more than all the rest,
Your love for me must stand the test.
We've had so many happy years -
What is to come can hold no fears.
You'd not want me to suffer so;
The time has come, so let me go.
Take me where my needs they'll tend
And please stay with me until the end.
Hold me firm and speak to me
Until my eyes no longer see.
I know in time that you will see
The kindness that you did for me.
Although my tail its last has waved,
From pain and suffering I've been saved.
Please do not grieve - it must be you
Who had this painful thing to do.
We've been so close, we two, these years -
Don't let your heart hold back its tears.
.
.
Poem is by an unknown author

You are breaking my heart.  I sent this to my son, Bosley is still hanging in there but the time will come😢

I know you posted once recently that you are not into reading, but if you get a chance check out the book “I Met The Walrus”.

My friend David’s wife grew up in the area that you live in currently, possibly the same city. She knew nothing about music, hard to believe.

David knows more about Rock music than anyone I have ever known.

Fast forward 30 years and she knows almost as much as David😀

I know I have mentioned this before and they have played virtual concerts on board but if you haven't heard them check out Santa Fe and the Fat City Horns on Youtube. Their Leader Jerry Lopez is a friend of mine. Great guy and the whole band is incredible. Be sure to look them up if you are in Vegas at the Copa Room on Monday nights.

I checked them out when you mentioned them previously.Very good sound.

It's been a good morning for me and I am honored and humbled to learn that I have been nominated for two Emmy awards in my last year as a video editor before I retire. I don't expect to win but it is truly an honor to be nominated in a very competitive 5 state region. These nominations were for video editing and graphics design for two specials we did. One of our annual Plaza Christmas Lighting and the other on interview and discussion special program where I edited most of the stories centered around the discussion. Ceremony will be virtual so it makes it easier as I don't have to wear a tux and I can sit in the living room watching it on tv in my shorts.

We are another fan of a band with horns , saw blood sweat and tears 50 years ago, the horn player who plays the National anthem at Cowboys games Freddy Jones is a friend of ours ( even though I really dislike that football team ),

A cousin of mine was supposed to be in Blood Sweat and Tears but he did not join in the belief that nobody would buy records by a band with that name.Instead he started his own band .Their biggest gig was playing at the Princess Hotel in Bermuda .He gave up music and became a Commercial Real Estate Broker in Manhattan. However, before that he was a supermarket cashier and his mother told everyone the story.
