Royal Caribbean Cruisers -- How Are Things Where You Are? (was "Routine" 😁 day in lockdown... how was yours?)

Recommended Posts

It may have been quiet for Lucy but about 2pm Lisa heard the firehall siren go off once and minutes later it went again. Within 5 minutes we heard we heard multiple sirens over an extended period of time. A little bit of time later we started to see more cars on our road, which means something happened on the highway.  About 40 minutes later a medivac chopper flew over our farm. That’s when we knew something big was going on.

I would not be sharing this except for the fact that after being extracted with the jaws of life, the driver walked to the ambulance. After they got into the ambulance, 10 minutes later the air ambulance left and minutes later the regular ambulance departed as well with the driver. Our local tow company was waiting along with two hydro trucks to clear the scene and replace the broken hydro post.

On a side note all of our local fire department crew are volunteers.  When the siren blows at the hall and we hear it from a couple miles away, we know something is going on.

Chopper coming in.

Lisa and Owen went down to see what was happening as the accident was diagonally across the road from one of our farms. The volunteers drive their own cars to the emergency location if they can not get to the hall quick enough to be on the truck.  The come from from their homes or jobs. The Provincial Police had the road shut at each end and traffic detoured around the concession.  Only a few ended up on our road.

Fire crew removed the windshield and did some extra work to the car.  Hydro crews were there to shut the power down for safety.  I have no idea how the pole got broken and there was only one car involved.

You can see the driver being escorted by the fire crew. It is amazing that they walked away.  As I said before I would not be sharing this if the outcome was different. Tomorrow when I drive by I’ll look for skid marks and where they entered the ditch to figure out what happened. It’s a miracle this was not as serious as it could have been.

I was working at the barn within eyesight of the accident.  The far video is mine, to where you see our farm that goes to the highway, and the near is Lisa’s. The traffic is the busiest I have ever seen on our gravel road.

I do too. Jazz is my favorite to play as a drummer and especially Big Band. I was lucky to play with several big bands over my career as a pro. Remind me near Christmas and I’ll post a video of me playing “Greensleeves.” In the recording studio.

Interesting rescue. I'm glad it turned out okay. Is that safflower, Andrew? @A&L_Ont And another question, is it wet, or is that dust on the road being kicked up by the vehicles?

Yes, that’s dust on our road. Some were driving quicker than others. In fact Lisa’s Uncle came along and we chatted for a couple minutes. He lives about 10 minutes away from us.

As for your other question, it is a bean field with a few stalks of volunteer corn.  I think you are seeing the corn stalk and wonder if it is a sunflower.

Thanks. We are always driving past various fields in California. And Bill asks what sort of field crop. And as an ag biologist, you would think I would know. But I don't. Our county is mostly wine grapes. I don't think I have ever seen a bean field. TY. 🙂

Sadly, that is the way it is with most families. When my parents were still alive, it fell upon me & my older sister to do 90% of the care taking while my other 2 siblings seem to always have an excuse as to why they couldn't help out.

I'm not complaining though, looking back, the time I spent with my parents in there final years is (mostly) precious and I feel like the other 2 siblings missed out.

My mother kicked me out of the family twenty years ago, so I got out of that end of things with my family of origin.  (Getting disowned was the best thing that ever happened to me, aside from the birth of my son!)

However, I have "surrogate parents" that I met about 18 years ago.  Even though they have four children of their own who are my age, I am the Responsible Kid.  I'm their patient advocate when they go to the hospital, I'm the one who spends the night with them at the hospital, and I'm the executor of their estate.  I now live a couple states away, and I'm still in almost daily contact with them.

Makes me wonder what my life might have been like if I'd grown up with a functional family... but at least I broke the cycle and raised my son well.

From Barangaroo walked across the CBD to the Art Gallery of NSW.  They have redesigned their gallery space.  Had a nice lunch in their onsite cafe of salmon finger sandwiches and a chai latte then had a pleasant wander through the updated spacious galleries.   From the Art Gallery it’s a short walk to the Botanical Gardens.69A7477E-7E39-4413-95DF-E6312A1A3B86.thumb.jpeg.55174f3f16722863181757c11644351e.jpeg

It is so interesting to see your photos! Tulips in your spring and late summer here. 🙂You are heading into spring, and we are moving to fall. Just fascinating, and we can watch your summer, Santa on a surfboard, while some of the country has snow.! 🙂

The Hallmark channel had Christmas in July movie marathon.  And I'm pretty sure within the next 2 weeks, stores will put out Christmas decorations. So why not some Greensleves in August?

That's the plan!  One asked if I felt comfortable doing it, I turned right to her (after having done SEVERAL theater productions and concerts) and said "Have we met?" 😄

Good morning

Today when I woke up I checked my cruise point status on RCI.

We returned home this past Sunday August 14, and our 8 day cruise gave us 32 points, during that promotion from last year.

Now mind you, we have a long long long way to get to Pinnacle, but Diamond + will just have to do for many years to come.

However to those of you who are Pinnacle.....................well done, and enjoy.  I can only imagine the memories you have of being able to cruise so often.

Take care
