Royal Caribbean Cruisers -- How Are Things Where You Are? (was "Routine" 😁 day in lockdown... how was yours?)

@Ozark_Kidtoday I placed all my remaining compost on top of the garden beds.

This is my first winter prep with core gardening system.  Is there anything else I should do for the winter?

Started new compost with mulched leaves and cut grass.  Plenty of that for a good compost starter.

We finished our neighbors lawn around 3 pm.   Gorgeous day!

But our trees are nowhere near done shedding their leaves.

There is nothing to do now for the core gardening system.   The only reason I put more straw in a few weeks ago was because I am growing garlic in 4 beds.  I may have to add more mid summer.   I probably didn't have to do it.

We have a large tree in the front yard that starts dropping leaves about a month or so before the other trees.  Not sure why.

I know I posted a couple weeks ago that my daughter’s cat, Lucy, passed away.   It was the only pet my grandkids had ever had, and they took it very hard.

My grandson probably took it the hardest.  He went from “I don’t think I want another pet.” to…”It will probably take me a couple weeks to love another pet.”

Meet Ricky Ricardo

And evidently, Ricky has managed to shorten that 2 week estimate, for my grandson to love a new pet, to one day.

He just curls up on his lap and follows him around.

Ricky is a handsome boy.  So lovely to read he has taken a shine to your grandson and bonding so well.

Absolutely glorious weather in Sydney in the weekend.  Best weather we have had in months.  Renee picked the best day for her sail into Sydney.

Beautiful weather for outdoor functions for birthdays & early Christmas parties of which we had both.

@ReneeFLL your sail in photos to Sydney are stunning.

The homes in this area went big on Halloween decorations.  Tried to get DH to stop and take some photos but he was hungry after our walk and needed lunch before we headed to the beach.
First swim of the season for DH who said the water temp is still chilly.  I was happy to do the headland walk then sit in the shade while my friend came me live house auction updates.10144E6C-3110-4C50-B958-34BD96C70830.thumb.jpeg.8b83a14004fd1fe48a9a0d1e7225556e.jpeg

We blow, rake and mulch our leaves with mower.  We have yard waste pick up every Monday starting in the spring thru beginning of December.   I put some of the mulched ones in my composter and put some others in a small gully at the rear of our yard behind the shed and garden beds.

The very last batch around Thanksgiving I put a thick layer of mulched leaves on top of our garden beds, rose beds, etc.

Arent you glad you asked😁

The ones we rake we put in trash cans for yard waste collection.

Haven't picked up a rake in 2 years. This house only has like 8 trees with leaves. They fall off and 2 or 3 days later after the wind picks up  they are gone. I just keep the grass cut low in the fall and there is no way for the leaves to stick around.

I think most blow across the field behind our house and are never seen again 🙂

It’s obvious that Ricky is feeling the love in that house. He looks so content. What a lovely addition to the family.

Renee, I don't see that anyone has posted this yet:

Thanks for the info. Unfortunately the guy didn’t show up on the last day for coffee and the others didn’t know how to get in touch with him. Hope he was able to do something with it.

Your patients will be heartbroken when you do retire. So hang on as long as you can do a great job for them, and you feel fulfilled  by doing it.

Patients versus cruising? I know which way I would go. 🍹 🛳

It is generally lit up enough at night to still be able to take pictures.  I was able with my Iphone in 2018 when we departed.

It ended up good that we were delayed. They lit up the Opera House with colors and there was a fireworks display. Pictures on that later.

My friend was lucky enough to have these two gorgeous Tawny Frogmouths (not owls) in her garden on the weekend.

They are usually good at camouflage

You have the most interesting animals! I had never heard of Frogmouths. ☺️

What a handsome boy. Ricky must have sensed some sadness in your grandson. Glad they found each other.

Tonight is the last night of our impromptu Tuscan Holiday adventure.  While we missed our Holy Land/Greece cruise, we really did enjoy these last 12 days of visiting the Tuscany areas.  Everything happens for a reason and I don’t regret the sudden change in plans.  It gave us the opportunity to do this land tour which we otherwise probably would not have done.  We will get to the Holy Land another time.  So, tomorrow we will take the train to Civitavecchia and try for Odyssey 2.0.  We did the Abbott eMed test yesterday and both are negative so we should be good to go.  We will see you onboard.  Until then, here’s a few more pictures…

It was great to be back again. The sail away was also beautiful with fireworks. Not sure why they had them, but they were pretty.
