@JamesEM This does make for a great day!  Happy to hear the great news.

You can send some of of that cool here.  Before noon here and it’s a humid 88F.  This afternoon hitting 96F and tomorrow afternoon 100F.  Wouldn’t be as bad I f the humidity was down.

@island lady  I am not neglected, I have a caring wife!  ….. Oh, you were talking about the cabin! 😂

I think it looks like a cool place to spend some time.

We had a massive shower with thunder and lightning this afternoon.

It is sunny again now at 16.33pm and 59°F.

Graham.

Then you probably would not like this restaurant/bar that we would frequent, when visiting our son when he was in college.

Lots of heads and full stuffed mounts.  It is a very unique place.

A petite, ladylike southern lady invited me to lunch with mutual friends at her home.
Her living room and dining room were filled with her and her late  husband’s trophies. They must have made the taxidermist wealthy.
Why would anyone shoot a giraffe? They had one of every animal I saw in Kenya. It was absolutely horrible and no way could I eat there.
I developed a massive headache, made my excuses, and left.
I have no trouble eating meat, but to kill animals to stuff them, no way.

WE have been haying a good rain also.  Just registered 2 inches on my weather station. Hasn't stopped yet.  Our storm drains work real well in our neighborhood, this is no problem for us.

We get a lot of rainy days on the NE coast of England normally but this summer we have had very little rain in the last 6 week's.

Sorry but that's disturbing, especially the elephant. I pray it's not real.

Once again I read that as the New England coast. When will I ever learn?

I feel the same. I can understand killing to eat. However, trophy hunting is pathetic and displaying ones "trophies" like that just seems very disrespectful to the animal who's life was taken.

Anyone have a suggestion.  We are flying into Miami the day before our cruise in October.  We are scheduled to get there around noon.  I am guessing it will be just as easy and plenty of time to get to the port no matter if we stay at a hotel near the airport or closer to the port.

I like getting a hotel that has a view of the port , love waking up and seeing our ship from the balcony. We stay at the doubletree, there are several restaurants and stores in lobby area some restaurants with music so no need to take a taxi at night , cheap Uber ride to port.

my Allure review from January 2020…we stayed in Miami and walked to Bayside and then uber to Lincoln Rd for sunset and dinner

Have to ask if you are still planning on going to Greece?  Also, did you consider doing a rccl or celebrity Greek island cruise?

yes! we definitely are. I can’t wait!!!!

We leave October 4.

We definitely considered a cruise, but we decided we’d like to see some of the other islands and spend more time in each. Our itinerary: 3 days Milos, 4 days Santorini, 3 days Naxos.

My dream vacation.  Hopefully, we will be able to follow along somewhere.

I’m hoping the CC gods will let me post under the Greece forum since it does pertain to cruise ports 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

You might also consider the Floataway Lounge  or friends of cruise critic.

Post right on this thread, it has nothing to do with cruising, yet the CC Gods still allow this thread to continue.

Got lucky and snagged a signal on my phone to connect to wifi...but not sure how long it will last.

Wanted to let everyone know I am still alive and kicking and not eaten by wolves.  😄

Typical lake woods cabin complete with "pea shooter" over fireplace.  Mr. Moose greeted us on arrival. Bird feeders went up right away (but only getting Hummingbirds right now).   Lake is steps from cabin.  Big four poster cedar log bed has nice view.

I tried to check out the Allure review.  I think it’s the only review link that is not working when you click on your trip reports at the lower section.

Today the painter were here to finish painting the outside of the house that I started 4 years ago.  I figured that I had procrastinated long enough.

Four years ago were were having a metal roof installed and our aluminum siding was 45 years old and showing its age.  I bought the paint and got the front and one side done where the roof on the first story butted up to the siding.  I didn't want to have to walk on or worry about getting paint on the new steel roof.

There was always good reasons why I never got to painting the back and the other side...I was busy with work, too hot, too cold, too wet etc...but the real reason was I hate ladders and this was the second story and third at the peak on the gable end.  Earlier this summer there was student painters next door and I had them give me a quote.  it was $900 taxes in to clean and put on 2 coats of paint...sold.  Today was the day.  A couple things I need to finish off that they missed but I had some stuff that I was going to paint anyway.  I had them leave the windows as I'm doing them a darker colour.  The paint that I bought 4 years ago was still good.  I took it to my paint store that I deal with and they re shook it for me and I bought a couple empty gallon cans and strainers and strained the partial gallons I had.  That's one advantage paying for premium paint vs the cheap stuff
