Ship movements thread

With apologies to @FreestyleNovice and the fine CC members on this thread, I just have to post one more video about Capt Kate McCue. This video really covers her background and how she became the first U.S. female to captain a mega cruise ship.

Hmmm, I wonder if there is already a Capt Kate McCue thread over on the Celebrity forum. I'll check it out. O.k., back to ship movements...

Here's the original source of the Joy's schedule, as shared by some crew members.

For the schedule of Escape, she is just 10 days behind Joy at each port.

Since Joy is already delayed, it is likely that Escape will also be affected.

There seems to be much spare time between Sri Lanka and India. The close distance between Colombo and Goa obviously does not need 9 consecutive days at sea. Perhaps 14 days of quarantine is required before the ship enters an Indian port?

Another super typhoon "Goni" is approaching the Philippines and will be the closest to Manila on Sunday. Perhaps the crew embarkation process of Joy and Escape will further be delayed, if these two ships have to leave the harbour for 1-2 days and go to other places for shelter.

Wow, a Cat 5 hurricane? I guess they call them super typhoons over there. Not looking good for Manilla and the Philippines...

Looking at Aruba I noticed the "Freewinds" is still there. Must be over two years she has been sitting there

Am I the only one that gets creeped out by that tiny ship?

I wasn't familiar with the Freewinds or her own her. Had to Google/Wikipedia it. Yeah, I agree..creepy. Maybe Tom Cruise is the ship's captain (kind of ironic that his last name is "cruise", eh?).

So just checked, Escape is scheduled to be in Jakarta IN on Nov 5th, and Joy is heading to anchorage in Manila bay.  Color me confused, since Escape wasn't at dock picking anyone up yet.

Another Super Typhoon on its way to hit Sunday. Joy MAY be on her way back, or just heading to wait out the storm. Either way Escape will most likely go seek safe waters somewhere

Escape is heading for Jakarta!

Jakarta. Brings back memories. I spent 12 days in Jakarta as a cadet on a Lykes Bros break bulk freight ship back in the summer of 1980. The long 12 day port stay was due to the fact that the ship had to unload its cargo of bagged rice on pallets, using the ship's own cargo gear.

At the moment the Joy and the Escape are far south of Manila and the Typhoon track.  They are out to sea west of the PI about abeam of Cebu.  That's around 350 miles or so.  If they then have to return to manila after the typhoon passes, and considering what damage might happen in Manila, they are both going to be far behind their originally proposed schedule.

Feel free to copy paste and update the list at any given time!

Updated the list. We haven't seen any more of the major movements were crew was brought home or transferred between ships.

Possible next scenarios; Movement from the Europe/Med based ships towards the Atlantic is the  thing we want start seeing now.. if not they're holding back for the Europe 2021 summer season. Without elaborating on any of the 1001 possible reasons. So please don't bring politics or sail ban discussions here, only an objective view on the (strategic) movements.

Lots of crew embarking on Joy on FB; https://www.facebook.com/pages/Pier 15 South Harbor, Manila/237776779594189/ Pier side booths for testing, crew in protective gear, lots of suitcases, all posted the last few days.

Might be "just" a crew change but it's more than a skeleton crew to me. It seems to be in line with an, although delayed, upcoming trip..

About Breakaway and Getaway: Getaway left the pier it has been at all summer and moved to another on the east side of the marina.   Breakaway left the dry dock (where it was wet, not dry, the last few weeks for scrubber work) and has parked on the pier side where Getaway was before.
