So sorry that you tested positive & hopefully without any severe symptoms nor longterm adverse affects.

As you know Discovery has eliminated the in-transit test we had between the first 2 voyages and now there are reports that the buffet is self service. We never went into the casino & agree they dropped these preventative measures too soon. Princess will never disclose how many Covid cases were on these B2B cruises but the list of people continues to grow.

I got off yesterday, and a majority of the buffet was not self-service. There very very few things where you could serve yourself.

Wow. So sorry to hear this. We cruised in the middle of the Omnicrom surge in January 2022. We were masked along with everyone else (N95), crew served in the buffet etc.  we made it through without getting sick.
We leave on April 23rd and are a bit nervous. I wish they would go back to the crew serving in the buffet and more masking.
We will be N95 masked and hand sanitizer. I just got my second booster. I hope that we stay healthy.
I hope that you get well soon

We got off yesterday. The crew was serving. You are given masks on your cabin and can ask for more. This was my 9th cruise since the restart and still mask. The pandemic is not over. It’s not a cold, it’s not the flu. I would say it was more like 70% were masked.

Almost no one is masked on the current sailing on Discovery.

Maybe 25-30% on Ruby.  And plenty of stares and a few comments made at those of us wearing them.  First two sailings on Discovery were actually much better than we expected, but you could see the downward trend towards the end.

We weren't provided with any masks in our cabin on the inaugural. On the Majestic in January, N95s were in our cabin. Grand in December,  we had surgical masks in our cabin.  Sounds like N95 is coming soon for the Discovery.

Apparently that was inconsistent on the inaugural cruise because we had 2 surgical masks but instead we used the KN95 masks we brought with us.

Princess medical is organized out of Holland America Group which is the division of CCL that Princess is part of.

You may want to send the same information that you sent to your PVP to guestmedical@hagroup .com

Thank you.  My PVP sent my email to the team that handles this.  I sent her a list of names of the employees that I had been around.

You can assume that passengers who are not comfortable being in an enclosed crowded place where 90% of the people are unmasked are simply not likely to spend time in that place.    It means that most of the ones that do mask stay away from places crowded with those who don't.  It doesn''t reflect the total percentage of mask wearers on board, it just means that they aren't in the theater.

With that said, on my recent cruise almost no one in the shows in the theater or the lounges wore masks.  But walking around the ship the percentage of mask wearers was more like one quarter to one-third compared to those who didn't.

That's true but on our trips the show lounge was filled to capacity for 2 trips and on the third trip when I didn't go, we went to trivia and besides the ship almost being empty at that time there seemed to be the usual amount of people roaming around with masks.

You would think that if people were going to wear masks indoors at any time, the show lounge would be the most congested place where someone could transmit covid. i.e.. sitting close to people for 45 minutes.

I don't understand this.  Do onto others....   I wouldn't welcome stares and comments from a mask wearer when I am not wearing one.  The only thing I find odd about someone wearing a mask is when not wearing it properly I wonder "Why bother?".

I'm with you on this. Wearing a mask that doesn't cover the nose is pretty pointless. If one is going to wear a mask, wear it properly. If one is in an environment that demands mask wearing - like many business have at times - then wear it properly.

First let me say MsSoCalCruiser I wish you a quick and issue free recovery from COVID. I have lost several close friends over the last couple years.

I got off my last cruise ship on March 7th 2020, a week before the CDC shut down cruising. To my knowledge we only had 2 people on board that got sick and they were seasick. I was on an RCI ship at the time because of (in my sole opinion) being lied to or possibly intentionally misled and had quit sailing Princess in 2017.  We were getting a little bits and pieces about what was going on the Princess ships back then.

I booked a cruise on the Caribbean Princess for mid-April 2023 last month hoping that this virus would finally be behind us by then and I could not find anything on RCI or Carnival that interested me, too many private islands. What I have been reading lately makes me wonder about that now and am glad that I booked with a refundable deposit (cash, not a FCC) and I have until the first week of January to cancel with a full refund. If it doesn’t look like a go by Christmas I will cancel, put the money back in the bank and wait until later; no big deal, I have already cancelled 3 cruises since 2020.

Thank you so much Rick. It’s been a rough few days.

I am so sorry for your losses.  I have been there too.

My last cruise pre-Covid was February 2020. we were on the Majestic Princess for four days December 2021, and then sailed B2B on the Discovery Princess.  Truly is my happy place.

I do want you to know that we had such a wonderful time on our cruise that I purchased two Future Cruise Deposits.  I really only meant to purchase one but had an error when I was purchasing and ended up with two. Oh well… Two cruises are better than one.

Take care!

Good morning,  I sure hope that you are getting stronger every day. You may have missed my post #24 wondering if you friend got it too, or I may have missed your answer. We are just arriving in PV.

Take care and have a fast recovery. We are all pulling for you to bounce back fast.   😊

We were on that sailing too and were surprised that there were no masks in the cabin.  We didn't use masks or get sick, but I thought they would be provided.

I sailed Regal in January and there were KN95s in the cabin on arrival.  Our steward also told us to let him know if we wanted more.  I'm wondering, did you ask anyone and was told they weren't available at all?

Agree with you Pacificsunflower.

My mom also disembarked on April 10 th -Discovery and  she told me the Buffet is definitely NOT self serve at this moment in time, except for  a few cups of fruit, a few cups of this and that, that was grab and go.

I am sure this is subject to change of course .

We also had KN95s in our room on Regal, in March.

We just got off the Ruby from Hawaii and like MANY others have COVID. From day 1, buffet was self service, NO handwashing stations (water and soap) just a purel machine that hardly any one used and was not enforced at all. Hardly any masks and people jamming the elevators.  As a a sample, people in the rollcall have estimated around 20-25% so far of the 85 people registered have reported COVID. This sounds like a superspreader cruise. Shame on Princess for relaxing the rules when the latest, VERY contagious variant is spreading.

Just read the roll call thread for Ruby March 27 cruise.  They have been keeping tabs of how many of them report back that they now have Covid.  Post 740 states it is about 29% of them have covid!
