Making final payment today for our Reflection cruise so we will not be canceling.

Still can with CWC still active.

Noted today VP Harris just got Covid 19 with having all 4 shots. No symptoms but shows how much trouble that return to the US Covid test can and will be for all of us. There is little immunity to Covid it now seems.

We will be gone for 34 days in August and September for 2 cruises and 9 land days in Italy, will worry about the test coming home in September. Unless WWIII starts in Europe we are going on this trip.

Currently seriously debating as Silouhete currently according to another board is now isolating some people in their cabins. Does this mean the 68 cabins on Deck 3 are full.

We are due onboard on Saturday, we need to make the decision today or face loosing all our money.

It seems that might be the case as on another post I’ve seen someone claim to have received official confirmation that current policy across the fleet is isolation on deck 3 close to medical. If they are now isolating in original room deck 3 must be full

Why? If full you get a better cabin on higher deck…

I am in the same boat (pun intended). My wife and I are going to the UK for our Iceland/Ireland cruise in June. I am hoping that the testing to come back to the US is over with by then. However, if we get stuck in the UK and have to quarantine there for seven or ten days (until we test negative), then we will deal with that when it happens. It will simply mean more time in London. 🙂

There is no way that we are not taking this trip after waiting three years to take it.

Recently came back from Constellation (Caribbean from TPA) and am likely to cancel the 2023 cruise we booked on board. (Even though friends booked the same sailing and we will forfeit the $200 deposit - it’s now nonrefundable when booked aboard ship to get the onboard credit bonus.)

We were in a Sky Suite as usual, and loved Michael’s Club as always. Staff really knocked themselves out to please. The problem was that the food quality in Luminae was far below pre-Covid, particularly the meats. The new cruise price is $1000 a night for two, and there are many other good choices in that price range.

As far as Covid, I have no crystal ball for March 2023 but I do know that there were Covid cases among the crew and several of us tested positive right after returning home.

There's no legal requirement to self isolate now in UK though there is a strong recommendation.

Cruised last July when it was still believed that being vaccinated meant no Covid.

Now that being vaxxed and boosted doesn’t prevent C19 AND Celebrity still has tight quarantine restrictions, we just cancelled our Aug 1 sailing. Not at all worried about Covid but am scared to death of deck 3!

It is just nice that we all have a choice of doing what is best for ourselves...for that I am always grateful!  However, it is so difficult sometimes to make that call months in advance.

As covid is still lurking on ships I'm wondering if people are feeling confident or not about cruising this year? We have two upcoming cruises with one in June and although we have slight reservations about going on the first one [Rome Med Cruise] we feel that we have to get back to normality again.

That doesn't remove the ongoing concerns and as we go on cruises to enjoy ourselves it was sad to hear that shows on the Apex just now are cancelled because of a crew covid breakout. So right now its still not plain sailing [pardon the pun].

We've done 5 day and 7 day cruises out of San Francisco with no incident, and we have one more scheduled for late May.. But we cancelled a 15 day Panama Canal cruise because of the risk of testing positive and getting quarantined mid-cruise. Also, no back to backs for the same reason.

It appears as those that fear being quarantined and cancel their cruise are being replaced. Our Alaska July ‘22 cruise had about 70% of the SRs either booked or set aside for isolation end of Feb, and now has 85% booked/not available.

Good idea to not book or cancel if you fear cruising, but it seems the rest of us are ready to take a certain level of risk and Go Cruising!

We cruised the Caribbean on the Rotterdam in January. No problems, but only 1000 passengers on board.

We’ve canceled our May river cruise & September Greece cruise. Not ready to take tests to re-enter the states.

Here is my analysis. I’ve been an engineer my entire life, and as such I’m data driven. I’m leaving next week out of Port Everglades on Equinox. For the past month or more, I’ve been active on CC as I always am before a cruise. Both Linda and I had original Covid-19 before vaccine was available. Not pleasant, but thankfully , home care only and back to normal after a few weeks.
We are both fully vaxed and boosted. Early 70s , but still active with a few age related issues, but nothing that would keep us from cruising.., especially considering we are both life long sailors who still spend a lot of time on the water.
As for the “data”….there isn’t any reliable data out there. Official comments from RCI and CDC would lend you to believe positive rates on board less than 1% . If you are on the Celebrity board, you are hearing numbers all over the place. This board is crowded with post after post about Covid  positive cases, quarantine protocols, masks issues, etc. Many people would clearly believe it’s to much of a risk to cruise with Celebrity.

Now…let’s look at RCI. Twice the number of ships, and many ships rated some of the largest in the world. Easily twice the number of passengers as Celebrity’s ships. As one would expect, since Celebrity and RCI are managed by the same organization, Covid procedures and protocols would be the same.
So answer this observation. Why on RCI boards, which are easily several times more active than Celebrity, is there almost no discussion of Covid on board or quarantine fears. Granted, there are threads about testing , vaccines, etc…, but that’s it. I paged back almost 15 pages, and only a few references. You would think with the passenger load so much greater than Celebrity, along with twice the number of sailings, there would be a lot of Covid related activity.
I understand RCI has a younger crowd, especially families with children. And some of their cruises are a little shorter, but they also offer plenty of 9 to 12 day schedules just like Celebrity.

So why the dramatic difference in Covid discussions between the two boards? I have my own observation, but I’ll keep it to myself. My analysis is…., the data out there is completely inaccurate. Neither Celebrity, RCI, or the CDC, has any factual Covid numbers that are reliable, if offered at all.

Bottom line…I’m still sailing with appropriate precautions. Hopping to still have a safe and enjoyable cruise.

All the best my friends………..See you on the next tack !

In our experience, Celebrity is more transparent about Covid on it’s ships then other lines. And, there seems to be plenty of Covid discussion on the Princess boards.

Nope, not canceling. We took a 4 night cruise in January on the MIllennium, and we have a 7 night on RCI in October, and plan to take that. Going to NYC for 2 nights this week, and we went to Gatlinburg and Charleston last September. We will continue to travel.

Apex would probably give me pause in the next few weeks, but we just secured the May 16 Beyond sailing (partially due to very inexpensive airfare) and will be doing Reflection in September. No plans to alter any plans.

I was on the Equinox sailing following a Covid breakout , on April 15.  After a "deep clean" our cruise ended with only 4 covid cases for our 9 day cruise. So because there was a breakout, does not mean the next sailing will have the same thing , We were mandated to masks in Casino, Theatre and in ports. Everyone complied.

I just canceled a Bermuda cruise: partly because of covid, but only partly. I think cases and variants will ebb and flow. I recently traveled internationally for the first time since 2019 and didn't find the entrance testing for my destination or for returning to the US onerous, once I understood the requirements and figured out when and where to obtain the correct tests.

I am getting concerned about the risk of having trips shortened and interrupted. We are doing a land tour before an Alaska cruise. The time spent in trains and busses seems like a real risk for ending up unable to board the cruise.

We’ve cruised quite a bit since the restart but not starting or ending in foreign ports, especially on B2B itineraries. Our 2023 Southeast Asia B2B were just cancelled for us so we didn’t have to make a decision.

Assuming testing for return to US is still.in place assume the poster will need to remain in UK until negative test result and is being polite to others.

I don't think it is always a fear of cruising or even catching Covid.  Sometimes it is the fear of financial loss if the trip gets cut short.  This is especially true with B2B cruises, cruises where one may disembark in a foreign country, or in cases where additional vacation itineraries following the cruise could be impacted if one gets Covid onboard.

Sadly, cruising isn't as carefree as it once was.  There are no many factors one has to consider when booking.  It's a new normal, and I don't like it!

If your one of those vacationers that has to have everything planned out and cannot have any uncertainty then cruising for the near term is not for you.

We are going on our cruise to the eastern Med and will try and be as safe as possible. If we have to quarantine on the ship or in Rome we will just make the best of it.
