Can you request a cruise card if you don't want to use the medallion?

As far as I know the answer is Yes.  Not sure why anybody would want to hassle with a cruise card but I guess you must have your reasons. You would need to visit Passenger Services to make the swap.

@oskidunkerwhy you don't want a medallion. Works much better than a sea card, your door opens without taking it out of your pocket purse or whatever.  You don't have to use any other features.

Some of us are luddites.  Using a complicated faulty system to open your cabin door seems to me like a solution looking for a problem.  How did we ever unlock our cabin doors before they introduced the medallion?

We all know that the medallion was introduced as a marketing ploy so the cruise line can track you on the ship and more important track what you spend money on so that they can send you more targeting ads.

Exactly. They can stick it.  Any claim it does not always work anyway bi dont want to be tracked

Oh, please. They know exactly what you are spending your money on, whether using a card or medallion. They know exactly where you are every time you use your card for any reason. They know every time someone enters or leaves your cabin. And they have state of the art CCTV in all public areas. So they can still track you anywhere you go on the ship any time they want. You are deluding yourself if you think a card makes any difference.

@donaldscLOL so how about we go back to keys?   Skelton at that🤣- Farday works great if you don't want to be tracked but we can't hide from the cameras.

I can picture it now - a bunch of paranoids with their key cards carefully tucked away in faraday sleeves and slinking around wearing a Guy Fawkes mask to hide their identity, all in an attempt to not be tracked. But, they forget that they are on a 1000ft long floating tub in the middle of the ocean, so they can be found if those insidious "trackers" wanted to find them.

Not to mention the extremely small hidden tracking devices inside embarkation day meals.

Why not give it a try for a few days to see if you prefer it or not?

You might be surprised just how convenient it is to use.

Not every one can use an Medallion, my wife has a pacemaker and it is NOT recommended  for her.

I go by what my wife's heart doctor says.

She could always carry it in many different ways other than a lanyard near her pacemaker.

Look at post #19; someone thinks they know more than her heart doctor!

Some of us old fogies collect cruise cards. On our last Princess cruise I was able to get a card from the purser's office. I told the purser what I had planned for the card, it didn't need it to actually work.....I have no idea if if would have worked, I used my Medallion while on the ship....but the card came home with me.

The Medallions are handy and have many uses; but collecting them isn't one of them IMHO.😎

Don't care about Princess tracking me, it's my wife tracking me that I'm concerned about.

Don't want her to find out I'm in the casino or cigar lounge, after I told her I'm going to the gym...

Try using an RFID wallet or piece of aluminum foil to keep your medallion wrapped in. 😉

Act like you are deaf and did not hear her when she asks where you are going. That way you do not have to lie.

With the magnet in the medallions, they stick nicely to the refrigerator.
