Sharon in AZ  Thank you.  Since this is all on BFF, I have no idea what our booking number is.  He has not finished paying off the cruise, and he is totally unaware of all the requirements he will need to get the three of us on board.  I ask, and he sends me partial info, or way too much info.  Until he pays off the cruise, I am keeping my fingers crossed.  But at this time, not investing one more dime.  All the excursions are booked,  (we paid for)  Our plane reservations are paid for, and the hotel is wanting at least the first night paid for in a couple of weeks, and yet he keeps procrastinating.  He finally got his flights settled,.  But instead of flying from Boston, he is flying from Providence to Newark to Vancouver , getting in 4 hours before we do, and then flying back, well, he's booked as far as Toronto.  Once that cruise is paid for, I will then step up to take care of the rest.  All previous trips that the 3 of us have done, were planned, and paid for by me.  He said he didn't know how hard it was to do these things.

You can set up a HAL account without your booking number I believe but even better……

If you can get the booking number from him you can access the cruise information even before final payment. It’s kind of fun poking around at the itinerary and other things.  Just an idea. I’m sure it’s hard when you are not the one booking everything.

Good morning. It remains cold and windy here but the sun is out. I love bagels and salute humanitarians but have not been to the port. The recipe looks so very good today and I am hungry  already!

Last night was a difficult  one and we called the hospice nurse early this morning. It looks  like our Tana has yet another pneumonia  to deal with.At least I am  feeling pretty  good  these days so I was able to sit with her through the scary episodes.I don't  think either one of us slept at all.I am always so glad to see any of the hospice nurses as they are just so good at their jobs.It takes a special  person to do this work and we are lucky to have them.

@Cruzin Terri, so glad you are finally home!

@aliaschief, Bruce, Thanks for all the pictures  and commentary. Your cruise looks great.

Take care everyone

Sending our prayers 🙏 for Tana Terry for her recovery from Pneumonia.

Good morning all!

I will pass on bagels and hats (I don't like anything on my head), but will salute humanitarians.  Will pass on the drink and wine too, but the meal sounds good -- although I agree with Debbie @dfishthat the Filet Mignon probably wouldn't last to soup stage 😉  We've never been to this port.

Today I need to get busy and work more on putting the Christmas decorations away.  The Village is almost all put away but none of the other decorations or the tree.  Having DH's party, DSIL's stay with us, and then having the grandsons here Friday-Saturday -- I've gotten nothing done.  Also laundry needs to be done, but I'm worried we may have a problem with the washer (sorry, I don't want to bring in more appliance gremlins!)  Yesterday I washed DGS's shirt and there was a "hot" smell. 😞  Google says it could be the drain filter or a hose -- so DH wants to check those things before I do any laundry.  And of course the drain is in the back of the washer, so that's always fun pulling it out....

Terry @smitty34877I'm so sorry to hear that Tana is dealing with pneumonia again.

Sue @RowsbyI'm sorry to hear that you'll need shoulder replacement and have to cancel your trip to London.  Hoping it's just a delay and you can go when your shoulder is healed.

Annie @marshhawkdo you have the "Have it All" for your cruise?  Lately most of our cruises have had that, and bottled water on the ship is free with that.  I will drink the tap water, and know that it's fine, but prefer bottled water.

Good morning everyone and Happy Sunday. The rain we are expecting hasn’t arrived yet except for some sprinkles. It sure is cloudy and windy though.

I will pass on the meal suggestion. Not sure what I’ll make today. I have a few options in the fridge. My pita came out good although they are a little thicker than they should be.  Next time I’ll try to make them thinner.

Terri @Cruzin Terri, welcome home!

Terry @smitty34877, prayers for Tana. I hope you can get some rest today after the rough night you had.

Graham @grapau27, I’m sorry about the death of the lady in your church.

Have a great day everyone!

Good afternoon. Thanks for the Fleet Report/Daily @richwmn and @rafinmd.

I love bagels and order them from NY; currently not eating any due to strict low carb diet. I rarely wear a hat (but do get coats with a hood), except when shoveling snow or a sunhat on vacation. I salute humanitarians, which we should all be. Interesting quote. Not sure about the meal, pass on the drink, and yes to the wine except it's outside my wine budget.

I haven't been to Tokushima. Hoping to see some pictures if anyone has been there.

It's cold here, 30F, but at least the sun is shining, which is always mood elevating. Just doing a few things around the house, and will watch football later.

@grapau27Thank you for Fr. David's sermon today. Sorry to hear about the lady who manages the Church Shop. I'm sure Fr. David and the congregation have heavy hearts.

@aliaschief I appreciate you sharing your cruise with us.

@ottahand7 That sounds like a lovely, if tiring, day.

@GTVCRUISER Welcome home!

@rafinmd Thank you for starting us up, and our lists.

@Cruzin Terri Good to hear that you had a good night's sleep, at home, finally!

@dfish Those recipes look good!

@kazu I hope the weather doesn't interfere with your getting to the doctor on Tuesday.

@smitty34877 Oh no, sorry to hear Tana had a bad night. I agree that hospice nurses are special; it's not an easy job. Prayers for Tana and your family.

@Seasick Sailor Wow, that's great service from the Hotel director.

@Rowsby Oh, so sorry to hear about your shoulder, pain, upcoming surgery, and having to cancel your trip. Prayers for you.

Prayers for the Care List and Cheers for the Celebration List.

Stay well everyone.

For what it is worth, I drink almost noting except a lot of water and I find the tap water on the newer HAL ships very good...and the price is okay as well.

I drink the ship water, too, but there is also Acua Panna in the room, and can be ordered.  I take my little metal water bottle and fill it from whatever comes to hand, usually the tap!

Good morning, Dailyites, we are at Seattle airport waiting for our flight to Victoria.  I have a cold, so I don’t think we will be going to church, even if we make it back in time for an afternoon service.   I wore my mask diligently on the ship, but perhaps not so much on shore.   The room stewards were concerned about me when I stopped room cleaning for a day, but Kamali said when he had a cold he was tested twice, 24 hours apart, and when both tests were negative, he was allowed back to work, and that is what I did.  I think I will test myself again at home, just to make sure.  There was a fair amount of coughing on the ship.

prayers today for those suffering, especially Sarah and Tana.

Always grateful for the Daily and everyone's contributions

This one was a bit of a surprise for me. I have been looking into excursions for an upcoming HAL cruise to Hawaii, though it is still over a year out.  Last time we were in Hilo we did the volcano helicopter tour, and enjoyed it so much, I though I would secure a slot early.  When I tried to book it through the HAL website I could not.  I had my TA check into it.  For some reason I cannot cut and paste the response here, but to sum it up:  HAL partners in Hawaii are no longer catering to the cruise line and concentrating on land based and hotel guests instead. Thought it was kind of strange.  Not a big deal as we will use our own company like we did last time, just wanted to use up excursion credits.

In 2004 on a South America West Coast/Panama Canal cruise we made a port stop to Lima, and I'm pretty sure we visited that same hacienda.  If you were to ask Mrs. XBGuy what her all-time top cruise experience was, my guess is that she would say that she was able to ride one of those Paso Horses at the hacienda.

Think they are making a fortune without the cruise ships.   But perhaps rent a car in Hilo, it’s a short drive.
aloha!

I think we did the same tour in Lima as @ottahand7, it was a ver interesting day.  Pat has a special affinity for horses and they for him.  The horses nuzzle his hairy arms and then they’re friends forever!  When we were called back to the busses he walked away and the horse started to whinney.  He walked back and the horse gave him a kiss.

Gosh, I'm really sorry to hear the London trip is off and you need surgery.  I didn't know they could replace shoulders - all I ever hear about are hips and knees.  Fingers crossed the Hawaii trip can make up for it!

Sorry you are sick but am glad you haven't tested positive for Covid.  Hopefully you can kick this cold to the curb quickly!

Well, we are going to procrastinate another day and "maybe" go to the grocery tomorrow.  One interesting thing this afternoon.  I was just watching some of the programs that have been recording the past few days on my DVR.  Instead of the Idaho murderer show that Dr. Phil had last Thursday afternoon, I had a recording of channel 11 weathermen in Atlanta going over all the tornado and thunderstorm watches and warnings in north and central Georgia.  You could see everything moving towards the east and just at the exact moment they were pointing out rotation in our town, the recording stopped.  The rest of the hour long program was gone.  Very creepy!🌀

Good afternoon from a very windy central Texas.  The wind is about 23 mph and our sunny skies have disappeared.  Depending on the source, it is either 67F or 70F, but when I went outside, it was comfortable if you didn't mind the wind.  There are several big piles of leaves in various parts of the port with more  under the vehicles.

Terri, I'm very sorry that Tana seems to have another case of pneumonia.  I hope the hospice nurse was able to help her.  Those nurses do a very difficult job that many could not do.  I hope you are getting some rest this afternoon.

Annie, I looked at the itinerary for your cruise, and it does have more sea days than the older 14 day Alaska cruises.  Fortunately, I can avoid the Lido, but if there is nothing I'm interested in, I will sit and read instead of getting some exercise done.

Ann, I love the pictures of Pat with the horse.  They seemed to have a real bond.

Another wonderful thing is they served a wonderful lunch with Pisco sours and nice Peruvian vino.  The red was very nice.

I apologize for my water inquiry.  You all must think I am a water snob.  I guess I am.  In fact when we booked our cruise from Rome, the first thing I did was look up bottled water.  I cant drink sugary drinks, diabetic.  I cant drink alcohol, sober 32 years, so my choices are coffee, tea and water.  Now if the water is good, then the coffee and the tea should be good.  Even on the lido deck.  So after a few, sorry Carnival cruises, I got into the habit of buying water in advance so that I have water with me.

Mango Bublé and Blackberry Bublé are great bubbly drinks.  Zero sugar, zero additives and zero calories.  But they make me....um burp.  A lot.  Which makes it hard to take pills.  So I am always in search of water being taken care of when I travel.  So forgive me, this is my downfall.  Limited perks in life, I just make the perks I can get,  better.

@Cruising-alongHave it All was 1748.00  for two of us, and then you have the add third person, that gives us two excursions each,   all the booze we don't drink,  and upgrades I think, to  the specialty restaurants.  We will eat in the specialty restaurants, but for a first time HAL experience we wont eat all the meals there, we want to dine in the MDR, and on the Lido.  It just costs too much for things the 3 of us wont use.  Excursions are already paid for.

@Vict0riann  I love the relationship your husband had with the horse.  It looks like the horse is kissing your husband back,  it was a mutual love.  So sweet!!  He might be a secret Horse Whisperer.

@StLouisCruisersWe were watching the news live when the storm hit your area.  The weather people were more than their usual excited, I think they knew immediately how severe that storm was, papers were flying everywhere, they were calling out to each other...checking all their different computers.  Even Chris Holcomb went silent for a moment. You were very lucky.

@grapau27I truly am sorry about your Church store's sales lady.

Wow, Annie that is interesting you were watching the news on 11 Alive when it happened down here.  That's the kind of weather reporting meteorologists wait for, even if it can be devastating for some of their viewers.

Well, we have continued to have outages for the last 2 hours.  The internet is back, as well as the landline, but TV is still out.  We've unplugged routers and DVR boxes, etc. but still nothing.  I hope they plan on giving us a couple bucks off that huge Comcast bill we receive every month!!

Yes  the Pachamanca lunch was a lot of fun.  Sadly, quite a few of our fellow cruisers whined about the Peruvian corn.  It is not as sweet as Americans are used to and it is quite starchy.

You're right, they did serve wine.  I had forgotten about that.

I wore shorts that day, and some local bugs feasted on my legs.  I did not notice anything until I rubbed my calf and found blood on my fingers.  Multiple rivulets of blood were dripping from me.  The next couple of days my legs were itching like crazy.  It was pretty distracting.

I’m hopelessly out of the loop here — for many reasons — but about the coffee, we like it now, just the regular Joe in the Lido.  In October on NA they told us it was a new blend, and it was quite good.  Same just recently on K’dam.  We had the Have it All, so did order specialty coffees, but honestly found the Lido coffee to be just as good — sometimes better.  Definitely hotter.
Probably someone will differ, but DH and I are picky coffee drinkers and we’ve been happy campers.   (Before the change, we didn’t like Lido coffee at all.)

Hmmm.

We ended up with new appliances in one of the original rounds of Daily appliance problems.  I hope this isn’t another round.

Last Friday when I pulled the last load from the dryer there was a sickening smell like burning protein, and the inside of the vent was black. DH took the dryer apart last weekend (all weekend) and found a buildup of lint (and golden retriever hair) INSIDE the housing, where there isn’t supposed to be a way to get to it. One of the screws that held the housing together was missing…. And there was no sealing tape (like what the YouTube video showed). The burner was brittle (probably from the heat) and broke in his hand- so that had to be replaced. He got it sealed up and back together. Job now done, and things are drying lots faster.
