Anyone who has not cruised in 5 years or more ?

We last cruised this past August, but it was the first one in almost 4 years as our last cruise had been in July of 2018.

In 2019, we did an escorted land trip to Peru including Machu Piccu.  In 2020, we had a Norwegian fjord cruise on Princess booked, but we cancelled it before they cancelled it. In 2021, we were not yet comfortable with the idea of cruising. The cruise we did earlier this year was booked in 2021. We fell in love with the itinerary, and felt it would be a great cruise to take on our 45th anniversary in 2022. But then we noticed that the ship was still being built, and the cruise was this year, 2023. So we waited for it.

My last cruise was a year ago. It was traumatic. I’m sure I’ll cruise again (we are looking at 2025) but I wasn’t in a hurry to get back out there. There was a covid scared… got quarantined in my room… by myself (my roommate was moved)… in vietnam… with no assurances we would be able to leave.

three more planned between now and June '24

I'm dying to know...are these short or long cruises? Do you go home between them? Not the question but I couldn't be gone that long. I like our home and friends and kids and grands. GREAT restaurants. Anyway thanks 🙂

They were two 7-night, one 8-night, and one 9-night previously, with one 9-night and two 7-nights upcoming since October '21 through June '24 - 2-3/4 years.  And yes we go home between them as they were/are a few months apart each.

We, too, like our home and friend's and kids and grandkids, and also think the ships' specialty restaurants (and those in certain ports of call) are very good as well.  We also just enjoy traveling and cruising.

Thanks so much for taking the time to do this. Gives me a good perspective.

Cruising is also something we have enjoyed both as a family with kids, with grandkids, and now primarily as a couple over the past 31 years.  And now we have several friends who we met cruising that we continue to cruise with regularly.  In the early years work and disposable income limited our cruising to once a year - sometimes longer. In recent years and in retirement that frequency has increased significantly.

My last cruise was in September, 2018. Since then, I've had jury duty (2018), was laid off (late 2018), took on a new internal position and moved to Texas (beginning of 2019), purchased a home (2019), the pandemic (2020-2022), and became an adult caregiver while working from home (again!) (2022 to present) resulting in the cancellation of a long-awaited in late September, 2022.

My next cruise is planned for January 2024, and then we'll see. In order to take my cruise, I paying for the flight so that my half-sister (retired nurse) can take care of my mother and I get a break.

My last cruise was in October 2023, a B2B Med cruise on Azamara, before that it was Iceland and Greenland on Oceania in August and Japan (28 day cherry blossom cruise) in April.

I’ve been in Italy this past week and getting on a Trans-Atlantic back to the US tomorrow.
