Georgia Peaches Takes Sweet Mama on Her First Celebrity Cruise...Reflection Live 7/29-8/2

Recommended Posts

Sitting at our gate at the airport with some final thoughts on our cruise. First, I can’t think of anything that would have made this a bad trip, short of missing the boat. The cherry on top was the excellent service, great food, and lively entertainment.

Last night’s dinner in Tuscan was just as good as our previous meal. We were escorted to ‘our’ wake view table and Edgar the sommelier, brought over a bottle of the Silver Ghost wine of which we have grown fond and left it for the table for us to enjoy. The only miss of the meal was the delivery of a lukewarm decaf cappuccino which was likely left to sit too long before making it to our table. Tuscan was a hopping place!

We rounded out the evening with a cocktail from the World Class bar and then headed to the casino to play out our free play. Blue Chip gifted us $250 in free play and a “free cruise” for two and another $500 in free play. The voucher is good for a year on an ocean view category or $1000 off a different category of our choosing.

Debarkation day is not nearly as fun or exciting as embarkation but Celebrity have made it as seamless and painless as possible.

We made our way to Luminae, our first meal of the cruise in this locale and by far the least impressive.  Attired in my travel clothes consisting of a pair of khaki shorts, white blouse, strappy sandals and a pink hat, we approached the stand and gave our room number. I was told I had to remove my hat. Surprised, as I thought debarkation day dress code was more relaxed, I complied. While passing tables on the way to our own, I  noticed a gentleman in his Retreat monogrammed pj’s, a woman in spandex bike shorts and coordinating sports bra top (her midriff was covered) and all manner of t-shirts and shorts. I’m all about classing the place up and if removing my pink hat accomplishes that, then I’m glad to help 🙄. I’m being half sarcastic, of course as I understand the rule and honestly didn’t think about it as an issue when getting ready for departure.  But it wasn’t nearly as offensive IMO as some of the yard work caliber attire I saw this morning.

That aside, the food was just ok and service was fine. Here’s the fruit plate, which was lovely and the best part of the meal.

After breakfast we returned to Michael’s where we were led through a door on deck 5 and directly to the front of the security line.

Another fine Celebrity cruise completed!

Final thoughts on our stateroom:  Signature Suite 4111. Loved it!  So convenient to the Solarium, which meant we could easily access our own bathroom instead of the public ones on the pool deck. The room was so cool and pretty spacious too with lots of storage. There are a few quirks though. Like a permanent night light in the bathroom. Why is this a quirk?  Well because the wall in the bathroom is opaque but light can still pass through which means the bedroom doesn’t get completely dark. Sweet Mama told me to close my eyes and I wouldn’t see the light. 😂.

Another quirk is that there is no wooden railing on the balcony making resting one’s arms while watching the ocean a little tricky because the metal/glass was very hot! And finally, the tub/shower combo on the balcony requires a degree in rocket science hydrodynamics to figure out. Sweet Mama wanted to shower out there but we couldn’t get the thing to turn on. I mentioned that maybe she’d prefer to shower in a less exposed area of our quarters…she seemed dismayed by the suggestion 🤦‍♀️ but that’s another story…🤣

Thank you for following along on our journey. Your comments and well wishes for this special trip have been much appreciated!  Until next time…Georgia Peaches out!

Sincere thanks for such a heartwarming review! So pleased you had such a lovely time. The nice thing about family holidays like this is you will enjoy them for years with regular reminiscing of “Do you remember that woman in the casino?”…

So looking forward to my next year’s Reflection cruise now…You have given me a real flavour!

@Georgia_Peaches Thoroughly enjoyed your review.  Am so glad that you were able to spend quality time with your mother.  One does not often get the chance to do it and everyone should avial themselves to every opportunity to do so.

Wishing you both safe travels home.

Hubby is down for it and you know I am!!  But I still haven’t found the perfect deal and @Stem to Stern had the nerve to book the last Sky suite! I’ll keep you posted! 😊

Glad  you and DM had such a wonderful trip and time together.

The free beach at Bimini just at the end of the pier to the right was lovely when I was there earlier this year. Such soft white sand.

Thank you T2A. We thought about stopping there as it looked really nice and they were serving drinks in big coconuts but one thing I learned on this cruise, and it gives me tears, is that Sweet mama has slowed down a bit and she just wasn’t up for it. ❤️. Such as life, I suppose.

@Georgia_Peaches Thanks so much for your live TR.

Cruising with my Mama was some of the greatest pleasures of my life!

Regarding the woman who claimed it was her machine--no way in HELL would I have moved!

Not letting a bully have their way EVER.

But karma has a way--WELL DONE!!

(on our flight home from Europe in May the woman next to me had a hissy fit because she thought the seats were too small & I was touching her...DH & I were on aisle seats across from each other & he said we could switch. NOPE. I put on my headphones & zoned her out.

What a sad sad life these entitled people must live--apparently the world is supposed to revolve around their desires??)

Glad you had a lovely trip! Thanks again.

Thank you! ❤️. I  needed a good laugh. And you are so right!  Had I been alone I would have held my ground but with my mom in tow I just wanted to keep the peace. I have to believe she did not have the win that we had and my inner child is yelling ‘nanny nanny boo boo’!  It takes all kinds, I guess. As someone else pointed out, we will talk about ‘old crabby’ for years to come.

Just back from Beyond and read your entire report and comments tonight - sounds like a wonderful cruise and so lovely to be able to share it with your mother!   BTW, Whispering Angel was $17 on Beyond, was my go to many evenings.

Great concept, but I think for best effect you would need to sleep with your head at the foot of the bed…. EM
