Live from Navigator...1st leg of world cruise

Today we are in Bay of Islands, New Zealand. It is foggy when we anchor. This is reminding me of home! I do the Discover Russell excursion. I discover that Russell is close but far away. We take a 20 minute tender. Get on a bus and then a ferry. It is a cute and picturesque town. Our guide is nice but mediocre. The best part is we stop for a croissant at a coffee house.

Fresh from Paris!

Tomorrow is a National Holiday, Waitangi Day. It commemorates the signing of a treaty in 1840. It is their Founding document. That meant loads of people and cars getting from the ferry back to the tenders.

Chrisy,

Thanks so much for this wonderful blog. You have written excellent threads and also given lovely photographs. It’s been great to be travelling with you from home.

Hope your husbands knee injury is resolved soon, and have safe travels home. Thanks, Jean.

You provided one of the best report of any blog I have followed. Thank you so much. I had no idea you were getting off so soon. Regent needs to keep you all on board so you can continue the excellent summary of a portion of the world cruise. I wish you both the best of health and a quick return to "Cruise Critic."

Thank you for taking us along on your cruise.

Your photo's and descriptions have been fabulous and I now don't want to wait another ten and a half months till we board the Navigator for the 1st leg of her round the world cruise.

Hope you had a trouble free flight home and you hubby gets his leg sorted quickly.

Here is the latest medical update on my husband. He had a fractured femur on a previous total hip replacement/fractured femur. Because it was fixated and had an artificial stem the pain was bearable. (I would have been on a morphine drip). Because his surgery was complicated we were sent to L.A. to see a specialist the day after arriving home from New Zealand. He spent 6 days in the hospital before having a revision total hip. I was a basket case!!

The LA skies are beautiful after surgery

He was discharged on the second postoperative day! We got home last night. Jim is doing great, walking with a walker. It sure beats the wheelchair!

Thank you all for following the blog and for your wonderful comments.

Rachael, getting through Auckland airport was a breeze...actually a delight!
