I may treat myself to a new watch on board.

I'm on the Sapphire end of August. I wondered about buying a watch while on board. I know there is a 10% sale on the first day plus my elite discount and I have OBC.

I like to have an idea of prices before hand so can anyone tell me what makes of watches they sell on the Sapphire?

Being from the UK it all depends on how much you are looking at spending at the high end of Tag Heuer/Omega or perhaps Citizen if they sell these brands onboard  Princess. It would be worthwhile prior to your cruise just browse Goldsmiths/Beaverbrooks and Ernest Jones and you will find in my experience prices cheaper and any extra through deals or Captain Circle benefits will be a bonus. Just as an example on a recent P&O cruise there was a Tag Heuer watch priced at £995 and on top of that was an extra 10% loyalty discount and not seen same watch below £1100 in UK and there was a Citizen watch priced at £499 so with 10 discount would have been £450 and this is priced in UK at £599 so there are good prices to be had as long as you check first prices in UK.

I am currently wearing one I basically received free due to on board credits. It is a Citizen EcoDrive with day and date. The price was great and the model is no longer sold with the day indicator. I have had it for over 4 years and is one of the best watches I have ever had.

I bought a really cute $10 watch (also had matching necklace and earrings) on my last Princess cruise.  Not a brand name, and, if it stops working, I'm still ahead because the price for just the necklace & earrings is still good.

You can usually do much better price wise buying from a big retailer such as amazon.  Remember, everything sold on  board is designed to bring in good revenue for the cruise line.  There are no deals.  Its like the casino, just with trinkets.

I spotted my UK purchased Citizen Eco Drive on our last Princess cruise which, even at onboard duty free price, was more expensive than I had paid in a well know British store named after a 100 eyed giant from Greek mythology.

Check our prices before you go.

I also bought a nice looking watch at the $10.00 sale ($9 with Elite discount).  I couldn't set the time and had another small  issue, so took it to the "expensive watch" store on board.  He was most gracious and fixed my problem.  I was tired of constantly looking at my phone for the time.  Best purchase on board.

I purchased my last Tag Heuer Carrera Caliber  on the return leg of our Hawaii cruise.  15% off sale price and just had it warranty serviced last week.

My husband bought a Citizens watch onboard with the 10% first day discount and our 10% elite discount =20% discount.  It was and still is the best watch he has ever owned.  We have not had any problem with it, but it does have a warrantee so I am not worried about getting service.

I will add to the Citizen Eco drive, bought mine about 8 years ago, it is still my everyday watch, still ticking away, never had a problem.

Sorry can't remember the price back then, but with the combined discount of 20% it was a good buy.

I purchased 4 watches aboard 4 ships, however last week I saw a

$ 1,295.00 watch MSRP on land which sold for $ 179.00 , don't settle for 10 -- 50 % off, it may be more reasonably priced off the ship.

You will pay more on a ship.
