Sweet wine makes me gag...sorry White Zin people, but ugg... 😉 Yes, great Syrahs here, which is the most popular grape in this area, of which they shine for. Shiraz for the Aussie folks...same grape. We both like full body dry red wines like Cabernet preferably from Napa. Also like Chianti Classico.

And of course had to buy another wine glass there...the one I had at home for years is getting a bit tattered. Made our wine purchases along with some of their decadent cheese and blanched almonds...plus some interesting Teriyaki sauce for my Asian Shrimp and noodles I am making tomorrow. Was a good time! Souns like a great day! OMG Bucky has socks and shoes on😃

Rare h20skibum Posted November 7, 2021 #36656 Share Posted November 7, 2021 (edited) It was a busy day or us today. Went to grandson’s last football games of the season. They won the first playoff game, then went right in to the second game against a fresh team. They came up short by one touchdown. We had started working on the lego Christmas house yesterday, and finished half of it. He finished it today, and it should make a nice addition to the lego village we will build under the tree this Christmas. When I saw the Titanic lego set, I was reminded of a thread I followed several years ago about a guy in Belgium who built radio controlled Royal Caribbean ships. It was amazing the amount of detail he had in the models, and these were huge. I found this YouTube video he had of a trial run of his Voyager of the seas model. Arzeena Posted November 7, 2021 #36658 Share Posted November 7, 2021 On our way back to NJ, we stopped at a lovely little town called North East in Maryland for lunch. Went to a place called Woodys Crab house. Excellent food. Had crab cakes and crab soup. I also remember stopping there on our way back home after a cruise on the Grandeur pre covid in Feb 2020. That was our last cruise before the pandemic. The Grandeur was still in St Martin in the end of October. They were working on scraping off the rust and denting and painting. While the edge was getting ready for sailaway, I saw a bunch of people (not uniformed) out on the deck of the Grandeur. Perhaps they were crewing up? Giving tours to the locals? No idea, just guessing who they were. Rhapsody was docked next to the G and seemed to look in a much better condition. NJ dept of health texted us that we can now get our booster shots if the second one was at least 6 months ago. Happy we met that critieria, since we do not meet any other criteria. Made appointments for both on Wednesday. Appointment availability was good, and we will not have to travel an hour away this time.

Got the fire going, then time to pour a favorite local wine we picked up at one the winery tours. Very inviting scene. In NY, we never lit our fireplace for fear of burning the house down. Same with the one in Texas although very few days needed extra warmth. BTW, I'm a white zin peep. Sorry, but I also like moscato and reisling. That probably got another ugh from you. 🤭 Wine connoisseurs who know their wine, do not go for the sweet light wines.

I have an ongoing list of crab houses we like in MD. Happy to hear Woodys is still there. Our last time there was fall 2019 when we got off grandeur.

Arzeena Posted November 7, 2021 #36662 Share Posted November 7, 2021 Some one (Mary Anne? was it you?) posted asking me which cruise we were on in February out of FLL? We will be on the Enchanted Princess in Feb. On the Silhouette end of March. We had the Reflection booked for Feb, but will move it and stick with Princess since X changed the itinerary and booted Key West and Jamaica. akcruz Posted November 7, 2021 #36665 Share Posted November 7, 2021 Been away for a few days, only 30 pages behind so forgive me if I've missed anything. Our 34th anniversary was the end of October and just fit in a quick trip to new spots to us. Spent a few days in both Asheville and Cheroke both in the mountains of NC. Visited the Biltmore estate (Vanderbilt family), various local breweries, an Indian Village and of course the local casino where our luck was not consistent with Sue and others on here lately. We saw lots of great fall foliage in both places and walked and ate way too much. Adding a few pictures, Biltmore had most of their holiday decorations up, beautiful. The last pictureis a sign we found at Dirty Jack's Green Man brewery in Asheville, found it appropriate, and personally relatable, to the retirement discussions here. No, the snacks were free...but just in addition as an extra (and as much as we wanted) to the box meal. Thanks for the info. Our next flight is in Feb to Fort Lauderdale. I get my booster on Monday. Bought Tylenol today. I hate shots.

It's a very nice Resort and it's at a great location. About 15 minutes from the Airport and 15 minutes from Port Everglades. We had a room that overlooked the beautiful pool, and you could also see the ocean to the left of the pool. We enjoyed our stay alot ! Even as an avid golfer, I wasn't expecting much, but I was very impressed. I especially liked the locker room area. I thought that was very well done. I've got a picture somewhere of me on the "Swilcan Bridge". Took a shot at the island green but no luck. I've also enjoyed playing the King & Bear course there a couple of times. Well worth a visit if you're a golfer, but probably not very interesting if you're not. The Swilcan Bridge is in the historic area. I am so technically inept, but took pictures of people on the bridge with their cameras, so I got pretty good at using just about every camera on the market. Not many smart phones back then. I never played golf, but volunteered at the Jacksonville Open which became the TPC, and that became The Player’s Championship. 18 years, till I physically couldn’t do it any more. The Hall of Fame called, and I did that maybe 10 years. Edited November 7, 2021 by jagsfan

My mother as an orphan in the 1930s had to go out to work and be self sufficient by the age of 14. She went to work in service, but her dream was to be a nurse. Eventually after travelling the world in the forces and bringing up a family, she had the chance to train as a state enrolled nurse in her 40s and she qualified at age 48. Her dream came true and she loved working on the maternity wards. I am very proud of her. Edited November 7, 2021 by sgmn
