I had read that in the Windjammer on Allure, the passengers now serve themselves again, as in the past.  I preferred the crew members serving, to be honest.  I feel it is so much more sanitary this way.

I hope this was only a temporary situation. I prefer for the crew to serve the food. I’ll be on her on the 16th next month so I’ll find out.

I have a Tip question.    We have had a lot of extra special this week by the Head Waiter of the MDR.   he has gone out of his way - definitely above and beyond.  He did a wonderful job with the birthday cake order, tonight he had strawberry bisque prepared as I mentioned earlier in the week I love chilled soups, he arranged a deep discount for Chris and Donna to eat Izumi and he said he has a surprise for us tomorrow evening.       Would he be allowed to accept a tip?

I would definitely put his name on the envelope. A crew member told me if their name was on it that the tip went directly to that person, otherwise it went into a tip pool. I would assume there are exceptions to this, but hopefully he will get to keep it. Glad y’all are having a great cruise.

@Sunshine3601  There was a very bad accident over your way at home a couple days ago.

There is a video on there a guy was taking of the accident, he was out of his car up on the bank filming it and watched as his car got hit and other tractor trailers drove into the crash.

I heard about the accident yesterday but just now watched the video.   I'm not sure where exactly it happened but just horrible.  You keep hearing car after car smash into each.

We had an 11 vehicle pile up on I-80 in the western part of the state with snow squalls from the same storm. A couple semi trucks involved, but fortunately no one was killed.

Up early and checked in for our May cruise on Allure.

We have snow and freezing rain until 8 am today.   Headed out this morning for our grandson’s school concert.   That should be fun.

If anyone is interested in the Covid color coding for their cruise ship, there is a website that tracks it and reports on a daily basis. The CDC only reports on a weekly basis, so this site gives a better indication on how things change each day.  In addition to summarizing the number of ships in each (green, yellow, orange, red, and grey) category like this…..

it lists each ship in every cruise line, and their status each day.

Interesting how things change.

While that site is very good for historical and trend data, pretty sure the data comes from the CDC site which does update just about every day (but is not as easy to read).

A few updates from the last week. Owen’s hockey team finished their last round of playoffs. They won that series 3 games to 1.  Sunday they had a kids VS dads game. Owen giving his goalie a pat.

This is to come in a few months time. Four tournaments and regular season games. Kind of glad Owen isn’t playing soccer this summer.  I’ll miss some of the kids and the parents but we might have a bit of time to ourselves once a week.

How about Lucy, caught her sleeping on the porch yesterday. She’s hiding this morning because it’s freezing rain.

Once I get over this awful vertigo, I want to do a day trip up to the Blue Mountains to see the autumn colours.  This would be a nice ride to do it in.

Have you seen an Occupational Therapist or physiotherapist (or whatever you call someone who does those things there) to try the Epley maneuver for your vertigo?

I had a patient in the hospital who was being treated medically for vertigo (which is like putting lipstick on a pig, IMO), and I recommended she ask her doctor for an OT referral for the Epley maneuver.  She did the next day (I work nights) and found relief from the procedure!

On todays menu.
Stuffed chicken pizza.

Pound the heck out of boneless breast.
Stuff with a ricotta, spinach and spice blend.

Spay pan.
Cover with green peppers and spaghetti sauce

Cook 375 for one hour

Remove from oven

Generously top with shredded mozzarella

Turn oven off

Cover

Let rest for 15 min

Serve

Yummy.

Thanks for the suggestion.  I had vertigo 6 years ago and yes one of the things I did at that time was see a physio.

I wish I was able to be on a cruise, but unfortunately my cruising days for the near future are over as long as I am the only caregiver for my mother.

Sorry to hear this. I'm sure you will cruise soon but you are doing the right thing for your mother.

Has anyone been watching Below Deck Australia?  What’s you take?  The obvious one to me, is the Captain who is a micromanager.

I loved it Andrew. I do think Captain Jason does micromanage more than Sandy but I do like the fact that he's not afraid to clean and get in there and do the jobs that others are doing. I thought it was good that he took the deck hand Jamie under  his wing to try and teach him instead of just firing him. Chef is a arrogant jerk who I think will not last long.

Meanwhile, another sad evening here.... From the CNN --

Five people have been shot dead on the outskirts of Tel Aviv, Israel, medics say, in the third deadly attack of its kind within a week.

Four people were killed in the first one, and two Sunday evening in the second one.

Sunday evening could have been much more worse, luckily a group of soldiers just stopped to eat some shawarma at a nearby kiosk, and swiftly took over...

Horrible news! Anyone taking credit for it?

I’d like to think it was ordinary gang killings like we have in the US on a regular basis rather than terrorists.
Somehow our everyday killings seem less scary. Or maybe I’m just used to seeing them every day in my local paper.

I had vertigo a few years ago and the Epley maneuver helped me to get rid of it.  I was surprised it worked but very happy it did, no problems since although I now have mild tinnitus.  Getting old does suck.

No. The first two attacks were done by Arab-Israeli citizens, with affiliations with ISIS. This is the most worrying thing, since they live among us and are "under the radar".

The third one, yesterday, was done by a terrorist from the occupied territories. He should have been "on the radar"...

That's why I've debated whether to mention it or not. Sadly, you in the US have your "fair share" of senseless killings too....

 😢😢😢

Yes , both me and my better half will get our 4th shot asap.

I think we are going to hold off on any 4th shot. If we get one, it might be better in the fall if this thing is still going on.

I've been watching it!  I gotta agree with @Sea Dog about the chef. CanNOT stand him. I'd like to think it's the editing in production, but I have a feeling it's not.

I’ve never heard a chef say that the guests should be on his schedule and only eat what he decides to serve them. I remember I think it was episode two when Aiesha asked what he was making for breakfast and he said Eggs Benedict. She asked what else and he said nothing that’s it. Then when the guest was told what was for breakfast he asked what was the second option. Aiesha replied there was none. I think this chef’s days are numbered.
