Todd Rundgren is another artist not mentioned here.

Todd Rundgren one of my all time favorites. I’ve seen him many times including with his Utopia band. Great musician, great songwriter. A true pleasure to listen to.

Awesome. As a mom of twoboyz, and nana of twograndzoons, I'm "partial" to .... sons 😁

Sorry I didn't notice the "tell tale" blue wrapping paper -- and I'll explain.

The concept of "baby shower" is known to me only from books, magazines, TV.

It doesn't "exist" here, people being very superstitious about anything done before birth. It is thought to bring bad luck.... As I've previously mentioned, different cultures and mentalities.

"What about all the necessities for the [new] baby?" you ask.

Ohh, glad you've asked.... In line with the "mentality", the expecting couple goes to a baby shop (or more), makes the command, and everything will be delivered after the birth.

NOTHING will be in their house before.

After the 1st baby, of course there will be in the house clothes, furniture, accessories, etc., but nothing new will be added before the birth of the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and so on.

Same goes with wishing someone "happy b'day" ahead of time....

That is very interesting! Really, any baby just needs fed and diapers and something warm around it. I slept in a drawer until my parents had a crib!

Sorry, I think I was a bit snarky with the blue wrapping paper. I didn’t mean to be. Sometimes talking is better than writing.

It was a great concert. A full house and a gorgeous night. Warm with an ocean breeze.

I don't know if I mentioned it. Kenny Chesney will be in Lake Tahoe July 12 next year. The tickets are moved and same price. Two nights at Harvey Resort & Casino is now over $700! The hotel stay went way up from this year's cancelled concert. :classic_huh:

We have done the virtual queue at Disney World for Star Wars.  When they first started the virtual queue you had to be in Hollywood Studio park for it to work. We would get to the park at 6:15 am for a chance to get on the ride.  It was nice when they made it so you can do it from your room.  Do they do the virtual queue for other rides now?

Yes, as of now, they are using the virtual queue for 2 rides out here.  At Disneyland,  it's Rise of Resistance. Over at CA Adventure, it's the brand new Spiderman Web Slinger ride that debuted couple of months ago.

CA Adventure opened a new section called Avengers Campus. Basically if you love Marvel movies or TV shows (Wanda Vision/Loki), they have characters all over the place.

Anyway, I got carried away. You asked about the virtual queue for Rise of Resistance - out here you can log in from anywhere in the world by 7 AM to secure a spot. If you can't get a slot at 7, then you must be at the park before 12 noon to try it.

You need good wifi or Internet speed to succeed as competition to get reservation is intense.

We rode on Rise twice and Spiderman twice on the 4 days we were at the parks. Rise is spectacular. A must for Star Wars fans.

Trying to finish day 2 of the trip report - So after Costco, we had Blaze Pizza. It was just OK in my book.

Then we went to the Citadel outlet in City of Commerce to do shopping for my kids' back to school  clothing.

I like their faux sand castle display that combined various sights into one.

For dinner, we cooked up couple of the ribs we got from Costco at the hotel.

Since the room is somewhat unusual in its design, all the seating area is one long section.

After dinner, we walked over to downtown Disney to watch the nightly Disney fireworks and the super sized Disney store.

Disney implemented a mandatory mask policy for all indoor rides and shops. So they make it such that you can oy enter through one entrance and they monitor if someone who tried to walk in has mask or not.

@dani negreanu Today is Friday the 13th.  Here it’s considered a bad luck day.  Is it the same in Israel?  I have really enjoyed learning about the similarities and differences between cultures.  Since we can’t travel to see these differences, this thread has been great!

Quite the contrary -- Friday the 13th in Israel, and in Judaism in general, 13 is considered a lucky number... Think Bar Mitzva's 😁

Agree 100%.

And I feared that my "no baby showers here" might be interpreted as a slightly veiled criticism.

So, all is good.

The only thing I noticed in your picture was your smile, your contentment and your excitement [not to mention the red toe nails 😉]

Wow.

This makes my 330 mile drive to Southampton England cruise port seem like a short hop.

Take care and stay safe.

We see loads of 1970’s stars on our music cruise, many I am not that familiar with , but he was the most entertaining act I have ever seen, this was last year , will definitely see him anytime he plays around us. Unfortunately they limit the artist to about 90 mins on the cruise. He had some very funny songs , one of which I will not name. My wife was disappointed only to the fact he didn’t sing “hello it’s me”

Yeah he avoids his most popular songs.

Yes, we plan to see him next year in Nashville. Hotel prices there have gotten crazy as well.

Decisions, Decisions.      We have done for the last 6 or 8 years and usually rent it from labor day to memorial day for a 9 month lease where the tenant is responsible for paying utilities too.     We usually put the listing in the local SandPaper in July but this year we decided not to list it.

We decided our family could use for short trips and we would probably come back down and stay for a couple weeks in September/October as we both enjoy fishing and crabbing in the fall.     Plus it is much nicer when the summer crowds leave and weather is always nice.    And we want to paint the interior when it is cooler and we can open the windows for circulation.

Last night we got a call from one of our summer renters (Not the can opener Lady - LOL) who asked if they could it rent for the month of September and part of October.

Eric says go for it and we will go down in October after they leave, but I am torn I was getting excited to go back in September.

We are booked for Oasis sailing on 9.26 and we are both undecided on whether we go due to the delta variant.    We are not concerned about getting covid (while i am kinda worried about Eric since he is immuno-compromised).    What concerns me is the risk of being quarantined and removed from the ship with contact tracing.   Eric is concerned about wearing a mask all the time, as he doesn't do well with masks on for extended period of time.

In the back of mind, I was thinking well if we cancel Oasis I wouldn't be totally heartbroken as long as I was down the shore.

Just don't know what to do!

Read the live thread on Allure, currently sailing at only a third full, did not need mask at all last month on my Celebrity Edge cruise, we are also booked on Allure in November, I have asthma and hate masks .

Based on what's going on around me (fully vaxxed still getting sick, one of my friends right now being transported with a Covid-ambulance to the hospital, after 10 days isolated at home, monitoring his saturation, his SO recovering in her own house), I'd say go for cruise only if Eric can get the 3rd jab.

Recent studies here show that the 3rd being injected to immuno-suppressed raised their antibodies by 50%.

Successful first day of the wedding weekend yesterday. Up at 4:00am to catch an early flight, but that meant eating lunch in Buffalo rather than ATL airport. Here is what a real beef on weck sandwich looks like!

I was going to have my Labatt Blue with it but saw a local brew on tap that I really like called Rusty Nail. Fun rehearsal dinner last night, extended to include families of both the bride and groom.

The highlight of the day yesterday though was getting to meet my niece’s 7 month old daughter.   I think she made only one noise all day that would make you think she wasn’t happy. She’s loves to smile, when she is not intently studying something. Everyone keeps telling my niece how lucky she is to have such a perfect baby.  Wedding and reception today and a charter boat cruise on Lake Erie tomorrow, before flying home on Monday. Still plenty of time for wings and Blue.

Had a great time at the races last night. We found out more about our friend’s crash last week from his fiancé.  It was with the first couple of laps and he was forced into the wall by accident.

This week they had to have part of the chassis frame rebuilt and they thrashed all week long to get it put together. After the preliminary laps he has placed 10th for the feature race of 35 laps. After moving through the crowds Trevor ended up placing 2nd, half a car behind 1st. If he 5 more laps it would have been a different outcome.

In messaging with him this morning he was very pleased with how things worked out after a long week. As it turns out, the winner is also a good friend who is also uber competitive.

I texted my son congratulations on his new tattoo but reminded him that now he can't be buried in a Jewish cemetery.

13 hours ago, ReneeFLL said:

Is this true? So I'm guessing there is a smaller percentage of Jewish people with Tattoos? Sorry, but I really don't know.

12 hours ago, Coralc said:

Really? Is that another rule? I never had any idea about all of these things. We don't have any tattoos and we are not Jewish, or any particular faith. But that is fascinating.  All these interesting things that I learn on Cruise Critic. :classic_biggrin:

That's the first I read about the "Tattoo rule".

I immediately asked my DH, since he was born here, and knows more about the "rules"....

He replied: "What about all those concentrations camps survivors, who had been tattooed with a number on their arms??"

Well, he's right. We went to many funerals of [tattoed] survivors....

Unless there is a "rule" that if you asked to be tattoed v. it being done to you exists...
