Royal Caribbean Cruisers -- How Are Things Where You Are? (was "Routine" 😁 day in lockdown... how was yours?)

I would call the fire department in that area... you can still do it now, and I highly recommend you do, before something horrible happens to someone else!

The fire department is who would have to fish out the dead bodies if anything happened, so they would know which building code inspector needs to be notified to do their dang job.

I'm bored at work and looked it up.... you can email the Fire Chief from this page:

https://www.pompanobeachfl.gov/government/fire-rescue

You don't even have to write a long letter -- just copy/paste your post from here, telling the Fire Chief what the date of your incident was.  The restaurant management was notified of the problem on that date, and if they still haven't made repairs (or shut down the death trap), the potential for more incidents grows every day.

Thanks for the reminder.
I reported it under code compliance…the only category that fits.
Gave them just the bare facts and included my info. I was glad to see they don’t take anonymous complaints.

Something that was posted caught my attention.

The hospital I practiced at had a unique rule.

When interviewing or discussing private patient matters only with the patient and no one else present, the patient was not permitted to use recording devices.

If it was suspected (we could not search or accuse someone) we were to ask if they were recording.

If they said yes, we asked them to stop.

If they said no, but we still suspected it, we stopped the interview, waited till they passed off their belongings to loved ones, or locked them up with security.

Then we completed their pre surgery interview.

It is such a gray area, is it legal, or is it not legal.

I do not have the answer.

But there are case reports of personal information given out either by family members and/or hospital workers, and for privacy information, the hospital did not want to be accused of any violations whether real, or just a fall guy for a potential money gainer. (by a recording)

I was placed in this situation once.

I stopped the interview.

Called the hospital liason.

She backed me.

Patient got the care they needed after they provided family members their phone.

Oh how did we know that they gave the phone away and did not hide it.

Well, when going to surgery hospital gowns if you ever had the opportunity to try one on.

Are one size fits all with big arm holes and a nice sexy slit up the back, with ties to close.

Underwear is not permitted and if a person refuses, they can just go home.

Then they ride a gurney and are place in a private area near their operating room.

The interview is completed there.

After they enter the room and are placed on the operating table, and monitors are applied, we are able to determine if any recording devices are hidden under their gown, or if they are laying on it.

Then the cart leaves the room.

I must say our facility is very patient proactive and respect there needs at all times, and social conversation by staff is not permitted.  The focus is completely on the patient we listen to whatever they say.  Nothing un professional verbally happens and if it does , you are reminded of the need for all attention on the patient.

Now mind you once they are asleep.  The radio goes on, surgeon picks the station, anesthesia picks the volume.

Surgeon usually peeved because he wants it (((((((((LOUD!!!!!!!!!!!)))))))))))

Anesthesia wants it on the mild side to hear the safety monitors.

Anesthesia wins...........................

Surgeon reports anesthesia

Anesthesia spoken to.

But

Once you make a comment like "...I did not want to place the patient in jeopardy, I just needed to hear the monitors and alarms if something critical would occur".

Anesthesia--1

Surgeon ------0

Oh side note once I was working 3-11 on Good Friday. and got a gunshot wound to the chest, it was ugly.

Once he was on bypass and the blood letting calmed down, we turned on the radio and guess what the song playing was?

Yup  HIghway to Hell.

HHHMMMMMM

He survived.

14 units of blood products

After an extensive hospital stay he went to rehab (drugs not physical).

And he came back to visit.

Not to thank us.

But as a repeat performance

This time gunshot to the abdomen.

Cannot remember the song on the radio.

After a short hospital stay,

He was safely discharged home.

Guess he has 9 lives, and to my knowledge just used 2.

Oh, I could write a book.

Take care

Jack is the same way.  We don't have timers but he still would feel the same way.  Actually, I agree with him.

Oh, I remember it well. 😢

My morning so far:

First of all the hubs is out of town helping friends get tractors ready for auction so I am holding down the fort.

I have to get blood tests for my Dr. appt. next week.  FASTING blood tests.

I jump out of bed with help from Annabel who will not stop playing foot monster starting at 5.  I let dogs out, feed everyone and hop in the car.

Drive 20 min. to the lab at the local hospital.  I am hungry and I want my coffee with creamer.

Walk in and the lady behind the desk who is not wearing a mask, shoves one at me saying it is mandatory.  I realize she is older and it is her job so I artfully arrange it with lots of space around my nose and continue on.

The very nice man who is drawing the blood, half-way through says damn the needle came out.  Give him my other arm and we finish.  He was very sorry and I assured him that it was all ok.  Big bruise coming soon.

Get home and raise the garage door while talking to the hubs on the phone.  Notice the snake hanging down from the door.  Hubs says close the door again so it can't fall in the garage.  Notice once closed there is no sign of said snake.  Open door again, find snake curled up in part of the door.  Go get garden fork where the hubs says it is located and start poking (gently) at snake.  Finally the snake got mad enough to drop at my feet where I could gently grab it with the garden fork and escort it to the nursery next door. I asked my husband if he heard me scream when it dropped at my feet and he assured me he did.

Now all is well, I am eating my breakfast, drinking my coffee and the garage door is closed and I don't need to go anywhere else today.

All before 8:30 a.m.

Sounds like you handled all of that with aplomb.     I would definitely stay in today😁

OB and Maryann, Charlie got sick on the cruise.  First blood sugar was low and he was getting lightheaded.  Since he’s a heart transplant survivor, we got worried and went to medical.  They did a bunch of blood work, ekg etc.  He was sick to his stomach and that’s when I mentioned food poisoning.  They decided no, gave him anti nausea IV and told him to monitor symptoms.  Back in the cabin he vomited(sorry) all he had eaten and finally felt better.  Anyway, they still insist maybe it was diverticulitis so $480.00 later is where we are at!  Never tested for Covid either which I found strange.  Sent obligatory email to Royal, got nonsense answer back.

After hearing the stories of those couple of passengers we met in Nassau pier, of others getting sick after beef stew, etc. onboard and me getting raw chicken sandwich I am sure it was the sausage sitting out too long that got to Charlie.      Good luck with insurance.   I am sorry that I asked about the ins. claim if you did not want to mention on this thread.

I'm off and running with my Live report of our upcoming trip.  Here's the link for those interested:

Jumping onboard. Not literally of course (don’t I wish!)

This comes at a great time. I’ve been toying with the idea of a West Coast trip and if we’re flying to CA, might as well hit Hawaii if we’re halfway there.  Not sure if we would DIY Hawaii or maybe do the NCL cruise out of Honolulu that visits a few of the islands.  So I’m really interested in the Hawaii portion of your report.

You know I’ve never drank the stuff. Just does not seem appealing to me. I should at least try it someday. Who knows I might like it. I know it’s very popular.

I tried it once. OK if you like cinnamon.  A friend of mine drinks it.  He doesn't like "real" whiskey.  I told him that he's drinking a college sorority girl drink. 🤣  It's actually become very popular on golf courses for some reason.

Just booked a cruise to the Great Barrier Reef with DD (not with Royal).   Assuming we don’t get diverted by cyclones/floods, I look forward to sharing photos with you all. Anyone done a GBR cruise? Previously done Kuranda skyrail & sailing day cruise with snorkeling off the boat. Might do Whitehaven beach, sailing to the low isles and snorkeling off an island + something else.
Countdown to tropical cocktails starts now 🍹🌴🪸🐠

I have been to Heron Island a couple of different times on the GBR.  Since I went diving, I suppose that is sort of like cruising the GBR?🤣

Hope you are a diver.  The dives were the best I have ever done.

No problem Debbie.  I am an open book, maybe too much at times😳

Sounds to me like a food issue. I'm not surprised the medical center suggested otherwise.

OK, I had to look up aplomb.   In all my life I don't recall hearing aplomb.   I may of heard it but thought they said, you handled all of that with a plum.  I don't remember answering,  I prefer peaches!  😁

If Eric really wants to retire do like us accountants do, run the numbers.  Unless he has a pension plan that requires a certain number of years, 9 more months of work is not going to add that much more to retirement investments.   Now I understand that you might have to take 1 less cruise every 10 years but you should be able to adjust. You might end up with a husband that loves to cook more. Sharon did.

In my opinion, the only way to see Hawaii is through land based tours.  There is just so much to see, that the quick port stops by ship are not nearly long enough.  We had considered doing NCL, but heard they were not the best, service wise.  When you factor in airfare, we were able to do a 15 day round trip cruise from the west coast for less than air and cruise with NCL.  We did our sailing with Princess.  (My review, if you are interested)

Working to our advantage, I had already done six, two week land tours visiting the four main islands.

I still have hopes of taking the entire family to Hawaii, instead of Florida for our holiday getaway.  My son is onboard with that, since they live in California.  They have been going to Hawaii every year during school spring break, and have had some great deals.

I agree with Mark.  Hawaii is the kind of place where you need to soak in the environment for a while.  There's so much beauty everywhere you look.  Every island also has a little different vibe.  We've been to Oahu twice and Maui 3 times, including our honeymoon.  I'd go back to Maui in a heartbeat.  We actually thought hard about going to Maui again this time but decided to try something different.

This is the 5th snake this fall.  I think it will get cool early.  The cats brought 2 inside (thankfully we saw them), one was heading for my husband's shop and another one was on its way to the house.  The downside of having a cat door and cat lounging area on the back porch is that they have access to snakes, lizards, frogs and toads who wander into their pen.

Just kiss the toads and the frogs. They may turn into princes.🥰

As for Sssssss, eeeeeek won't even say the word.😒

Thanks for posting that link Mark. I just finished speed reading it and I can see your point about a cruise not being the best way to see Hawaii since port times are so short.  I do know Andy wouldn’t be happy with 5 sea days so if we chose the cruise option it would have to be NCL.  I guess I need to get myself a guidebook or two and start really researching which islands to visit if we just fly there.

How would you describe the vibe of both Oahu & Maui?  For some reason I feel those would be the ones we’d visit.  We’re not super active, outdoorsy types. Too old to try surfing 🤣.  We like beautiful scenery, learning about local culture,  relaxing on a beach or by a nice resort pool, just love that tropical vibe.  Would love to visit Pearl Harbor, a pineapple and coffee farm.  And of course shopping, eating and drinking!  One thing I know for sure - I’m not getting in a helicopter no matter how beautiful the view. I’m just becoming comfortable with flying commercial!

I guess I could just wait patiently for you to get to Hawaii and read about it on your thread lol.

That stuff is nasty, should just be used for baking. To drink that stuff straight you need a leather throat.

We did a cruise there many years ago...............Try this tour company in Oahu if you ever go there. We went and saw everything !

https://losttourshawaii.com/   "Kos Tours"   We did the "Circle the Island Tour: In Oahu in a Hummer.

One the best tours around any island we have ever done.

We saw Pearl Harbor, Dole Pineapple Farm and Coffee Farm on that cruise also.

This was on a Roundtrip cruise from San Diego  This was on a 15 night cruise on Radiance that turned into almost 16 days because of a medical emergency and had to turn back around and head back to Hawaii to let the sick passenger off, talk about messing up everyone return flights home from San Diego , It was a mess but Royal allowed free phone calls for everyone on the ship to make new arrangements.

Because of New flight we can now say we gambled in Las Vegas.........In the Airport ! 😲 It's not something you can say about  every airport in the US  is it?
