Royal Caribbean Cruisers -- How Are Things Where You Are? (was "Routine" 😁 day in lockdown... how was yours?)

DD is progressing.  She just started five weeks of radiation.  It was delayed a little, because she got the flu.  She did start back to work yesterday, doing half days for a while.  Taking it a day at a time.

As for me, I finished with the heart monitor last Friday. Don’t know what it shows, but will find out when I meet with the cardiologist.  Appointment was supposed to be tomorrow, but they pushed it back a couple weeks.

With all the imaging that the “providers” have done, they did find a couple things.  One, a spot on my lung that I have discussed with my primary doctor.  It is at a watch and wait stage with another scan in 3-6 months to see if it grows.

The second thing is I have a thoracic aortic aneurysm, that will be discussed further with the cardiologist.  It appears it is near the size where surgery would be required, but it may just be monitored for a while also.

It is probably good it is caught early.  I had no symptoms, other than an elevated heart rate one day last fall, that Apple Watch said was aFib.  That’s what prompted me to get checked.

Thanks for asking.

When I saw my electrophysiologist (cardiologist) last week, I told him I was fibrillating for 3 hours the night before. I stayed up till it slowed down so I wouldn’t die in my sleep!

Heart rate went up to 143 but mostly around 119-120. He told me I was still fibrillating sitting in his office. My pacemaker told on me. I couldn’t tell because it wasn’t trying to climb out of my chest.
My Xarelto is to keep me from having a stroke, so I wasn’t worried about that.
Long  term, though, it will weaken the heart, so I hope your doctor’s on it.

I'm so sorry to hear this Mimi.

After my heart attack I was prescribed Bisoprolol a Beta blocker and my heart rate is under 60bpm.

Short-legged people of the world, unite!!!

Although now that I have bad knees, I also have a complaint about chairs that are TOO low, and I need a sturdy handle to lift myself up out of them, or a crane!

I need the Goldilocks-approved seating level.... the one that is JUST RIGHT!

If my rear is lower than my knees, it’s an uphill battle to get up. I’m tall and have long  thighs.
And I cannot do it without help!

That's like those Adirondack chairs. They are horrible. I don't know how anyone sits in them, except for young people. I can only perch on the front edge.

And that gets uncomfortable after a few minutes!

I will most likely try out just about every bar on Wonder.  Except for the Bionic bar.  The novelty has already worn off 😉

I somewhat end up at specific bars depending on the type of drinks I'm looking for, but after a while, once I've narrowed down my favourite bartenders, I mostly go back to my preferred classics and end up the same few bars over and over.

D+ free drinks can not be used at the Bionic bar.

Thanks, aussie. I've started today, seeing that DH is much better and after the almost 10 days Passover holiday, when everything is at standstill.

It's quite a nightmare. I've booked this trip last October, the flight between Marrakech and Madrid was a mere 62$ pp. Now, the cheapest one is 250$ pp !!! Same with the Madrid hotel -- 180 Euro v. 454 Euro now....

The excellent riad [room] I've booked in Marrakech is fully booked. Found another, hopefully it will be up to standard.

Our flights were booked with the national company, which doesn't fly from Friday afternoon until late Saturday night. We have to "work" around this limit....

They gave us the option to re-schedule, and to apply the actual rates on top of what we've paid. I didn't want to add so much, and I've managed to find one flight at the original rates. This one and only date impacted the other dates/hotels. The visa also expires in August.

The good season to visit is March-May or Sep/Oct and I want to do it NOW....

Dani - we take from granted in our country how easy it is to book holidays.  I am sorry you have to go through so many hurdles. Is there a reason the National airline does not fly on Friday afternoon to Saturday night? - that seems bizarre to me.

Last minute bookings due to rescheduling is always difficult & more costly unfortunately. But you certainly don’t need this nightmare right now.

I hope you get what you want and can travel now and can report back after your holiday of how good it was.

I told my work colleagues on Wednesday that my intermittent coughing was due to the gorgeous fluffy kitty that I have been cat sitting and who has been curled up on my lap every night after dinner.

This gorgeous kitty sheds a lot of fur so I assumed it had caused my allergies to flare but I felt worse overnight so did the test on Thursday morning.

It wasn’t kitty at all, I have Covid for the first time.

So my cruising friends on the Ovation have missed two ports (port authority closed them due to weather) one has developed a chest infection, have not got on with their travelling companions and now their favourite cat sitter is Covid positive…fortunately I had contact details for their  friends who are feeding kitty for the next two nights.

I may need to start scaling down too.  I feel great mentally but physically I wear down quickly.   I can get after it for about an hour but then need a break.  Just starting B12 so maybe that will help.  Also I have never been a breakfast guy, except while cruising 😆.   I need to start eating earlier for the energy.

I wish I'd remember to take B12.  I'll leave it on the kitchen Island as a reminder;  I'll take it for a couple of days, and when it winds up in the cabinet, it's "out of sight, out of mind" with me.

After a blood test my Dr. advised me to take B12.  Since I take a couple of other meds every morning I put it in my pill organizer so I don't forget.  It really made a big difference in my energy levels.

It is bizarre... It is even more bizarre taking into account that until 1982 the airline was flying 7 days a week.

But, in 1982, the ultra religious party got the upper hand... and the airline started to keep the Shabbat/Saturday (Shabbat starts with sundown on Friday until sundown on Saturday, but since there is also no public transportation, people who work need to get home a lot earlier than sundown, same with arriving to work, they have to wait until public transportation starts again, usually at least 2 hours after sundown...).

One of the reasons people need to have cars is to be able to visit family/friends during the Shabbat....

I never said we're a "normal" country in so many counts 😢

Oh, I just remembered that I went to the supermarket to complete some missing items, and one of them was soya sauce. The condiments' shelves was partially covered with a sheet, I moved the sheet a bit and took the soya bottle.

When I got to the cashier, she told me that I cannot buy it, since it is not Passover approved/kosher, and the bar code was blocked from accepting payment for this [and other not Passover approved] items....

I rest my case.

I have been so busy at work since the return of our cruise on April 2nd that I decided to call Royal and book another cruise today.     We used Eric's casino comp and booked a JS for Anthem 11 night sailing on Jan 18, 2024.

Asked about casino rate to upgrade to a GS but it was way too much.   Maybe we will try a royal up bid next December.

It was a toss between this sailing or a 12 night sailing on Vision OTS in December which has a better itinerary but I like to unwind and relax on a cruise after the Holidays instead of being away for 2 weeks before Christmas then feeling rushed to get ready.
