Royal Caribbean Cruisers -- How Are Things Where You Are? (was "Routine" 😁 day in lockdown... how was yours?)

It's not because the eclipse itself is dangerous. It's because they expect thousands of people to travel to our area to view it, which will cause massive traffic/crowding issues. And this eclipse is a bigger deal than most since it's total. Still seems like a bit of overkill to me - I guess I'll find out on 4/8!

Our entire province has been given a PA Day for grade and high school students. Only a small sliver of our province is in the zone of greatest eclipse viewing zone but they all get it. Meanwhile they could be at home, while their parents are at work, and stare at the sun. Makes on sense to me.  Maybe as I get older I’ll understand it better. 😉

And here we are in the direct path and our son's school is NOT canceled that day. He feels very cheated. 😂

We are in the path, and our schools are not cancelled.  They do get out early to watch it.

According to one of the forecasts, we have a 68% chance of cloud cover, so we may not see it.  Will have to watch the forecast as we get closer.

Got an email from United, saying they had $99 fares from Pittsburgh to EWR.  I started looking at cruises from Cape Liberty, but none around the cheap dates.

I did find a couple nice cruises I am trying to talk Susan in to.

We have been watching The Blacklist, on Netflix.  I can’t believe they had 10 seasons, and we never watched one episode till now.  We are now up to the middle of season five.

Day 3- 3/27 con’t

This day’s adventure is to hike the Mt. Misen Trail.
IMG_9321.thumb.jpeg.ca29e4f73b44c5048a0c9d737ed7bd8a.jpeg

This trail is a 535 meter elevation climb to the top.  The equivalent of 105 floors.  Yikes.  Not sure what I’m in for.  It starts off easy enough.
IMG_9325.thumb.jpeg.531f7a8d3b453a0875790914ce592d83.jpeg

It increasingly gets harder.  The path is dry in some spots but wet in most because of rain and water rain offs.  The stepping stones below looks pretty even and low but they get taller and steeper.

IMG_1401.thumb.jpeg.ab83240d7c826197ff750b036b7046a1.jpeg

Wish I have a picture of the steepness of the stepping stones and of the climb but at this point about half way up, I don’t want to do it anymore.  I don’t want my back killing me afterwards so the next bench we find, I’ll just sit there and wait for DH to finish the hike.  Good thing because DH said the last half of the climb is so much more challenging.  I would be so frustrated.

Day 3- 3/27

East is to the right of us and west is to the left of us so we don’t really get sunrise or sunset.  This was the best I could get from our balcony.  There is an oyster farming boat with the blue light going out.

We just booked Summit for November 10, 2025. Some friends are going and they alerted us. Prices were changing by the minute. I guess tht is what they call dynamic?

I love the Summit, and after it's refurbishment, it looks very chic and new.

I am sure George C will agree.

@FromSea2ShiningSea I wish you’d give us a breakdown of what some of those exotic dishes you had for dinner and breakfast were!  Absolutely beautiful presentation!

Some of the dishes are new to us and we are unfamiliar with them as well.  I will try to identify the dishes as best I can when I get a chance.

I thought about you and @aussielozzie18 who are avid hikers, the distances and hundred of thousands of steps that you all can do in a day.  That’s incredible.

I went to Japan a couple of times on business to visit a manufacturing plant.  For lunch, we sat at the VIP table in the cafeteria (because we were from "headquarters") with the local people in charge.  They served whole fish which we ate by picking out pieces of the "meat" with chopsticks.  It looked quite a bit better than what everyone else was eating at the other tables.  Different, but when in Rome...
