Is there one ship you'd love to cruise on?

I was thinking the other day.  I used to be up really late and watch the ships come into Port Everglades.  I always thought that Carnival Freedom was the most beautiful ship when it came in and want to sail on her.  I never have, but some day I will.  Does anyone else have a ship that they want to sail on but just never have?  Why do you want to sail on her?

Celebrity Edge.  I'm a huge fan of Celebrity and I love their Solstice Class ships, so I'm really intrigued by the new, modern design of Edge.

Another vote for Celebrity Edge.  We have a free midship balcony cabin booked for this December from a casino promotion.  We can change it to the same ship, same promo in 2021 if this year's booking looks chancy. { Free means we paid taxes and port charges of about $220.}

 

We only did 1 Celebrity cruise in 2019, and I have but 3 total over the last few years, and getting a free "comped" balcony cabin is an offer I couldn't refuse.  I've cruised Carnival 42 times and their casino offers me $50 - 100 off the cabin fare and $100 casino cash.  Listening Carnival?

 

To the OP, I've been on the Conquest class ships (Conquest, Glory, Valor, Freedom & Liberty) maybe 25 times, they were nice when they were new up to about 10 years old.  Now I prefer the Dream and Vista class, although those too are starting to show their rust.  Lots of newer ships on other lines to experience.......

Having completed a cruise with Viking Ocean, we are happy to sail on any of their ships, which are virtually identical.

I haven't tried Celebrity but I want to.   I haven't checkout out videos of the Edge either but I guess I'm going to have to.

I have only went on Carnival twice.  The first time we loved it and in January on the Magic we  just didn't enjoy it.  I think it is just not our style.  Yes the Magic had tons of rust but I'm not sure if I noticed it because people had mentioned it here on CC or if I would have noticed it otherwise.    I would really like to go on Celebrity and congrats it sounds like you got a great deal!

Hmm, tough one for me. Cruising is a combination of ship and itinerary for me.

An oldie and impossible to do:  R.M.S. Queen Mary 

 

Why?  She is the first ship that I visited prior to a trans-Atlantic sailing.  I was so impressed by what I saw and experienced that I said to myself:  "I have to experience this."  My  CC signature tells the rest of my story.

For those looking at Edge, I’ve cruised her twice and it was fabulous. Definitely do it!

I'm thinking Pacific Princess. Having sailed on and thoroughly enjoyed its sister ship the former Ocean Princess, I'd like to have that experience again.

I really like Navigator of the seas , cruised her 3 times each time in grand suite, perfect size not to big or small, would love to try Celebrity Edge.

LOL....     If you had asked this question a couple years ago, I would have answered "hell yes"    Then we got the opportunity.  

 

I had wanted my entire (cruising) life to sail on the old SS Stockholm.   It was the ship that my PARENTS sailed on for their honeymoon back in 1946.   Growing up, I had head SOOO many stories about her (and her sister ships with the Swedish American Line) that she always held sort of a mystique about her. 

 

Well, I finally did, as she is sailing with Cruise and Maritime Voyages under the name Astoria.  Fun cruise, and we got the same stateroom as my parents had way back when.

For the Princess experience  or the ship experience??

Princess have had 2 ships with the name Ocean Princess. The original one was one of the 4 "Sun" class, which was transferred to P&O and renamed Oceana. This ship is still in service.

 

The 2nd Ocean Princess was originally R4, then became Tahitian Princess (02 to 09), before being renamed Ocean Princess. It was sold to Oceania Cruises about 4 yrs ago. Also still in service.

 

Not sure how much longer Pacific will remain, as the IP is scheduled for her 2022 WC and she has no cruises after Oct 21.

In the oldie and definitely impossible category for me would be SS Uganda, affectionately know as "Ug tug" and SS Oriana - my first 2 pax vessels.

At the moment, it would be Edge.  We were scheduled on her for March 15; but that didn’t happen...  Queen Mary was absolutely fascinating as a hotel, but there are so many features no longer on her that there is some disappointment...  there are a lot more, such as Europa 2 that we could never afford.  A Ponant  ship, A tall ship...  we did sail QE2 for the experience, and Insignia as one of the R ships.  EM

I'm going a different direction here.  I'd LOVE to do a small luxury barge on a leisurely cruise on the French canals.  Lazy, good wine, good cheese, can walk or bike along the canal path.  This and a small yacht trip on Dalmatian Coast (could have been this September, but money and COVID squashed that) are my last 2 bucket list trips involving a boat.

I'd also like to do a river cruise some day. We once had one booked and paid for over a Christmas/New Years break in the Netherlands and Belgium, but it was chartered out from under us. Since then we have never really found one that fit our schedule.

I'll happily join you if there are any of those trips that cover the area around the Rhone and Soane rivers, with all those great Roman sites (Arles, Orange, Vienne, Lyon...)

Visiting the MS Kungsholm on sailing day prior to a North Cape Cruise was another one of those "I have to do this" experiences for me.  She sailed at 4:00 P. M. and when we left the ship  at the "All Ashore" message over the PA , the Stewards were preparing tea service in her main Lounge for that time. 

 

I still regret that I was not able to experience the services of Swedish American Lines and Norwegian America Lines.  I was fortunate to experience Royal Viking Lines and that was probably just as good.

 Let's go!!!  But, I'd have to see if any of the canal barges do that area.  I know river cruises do, but those are big boats....
