NSWP Posted July 26, 2022 #7476 Share Posted July 26, 2022 (edited) OK back on track, I purchased an Ivan's cottage pie from Coles the other day, think it was $12 on special. Anyway it was great for me, no pastry and no gluten disclosed in the allergens. I got two dinners out of it. Air fryer job. Lubbly Jubbly. No garlic !! lol. I am pretty sure all mole sauces are made with some amount of chilies. Mole negro uses smoked chilies. Helps with the dark colour.

Les, Ivan’s Pies are not too far from us - 10-15 minutes drive. Grandson’s school usually has a fundraising drive with them. Very nice products. The cottage pie you bought is $12.50 on their online shop. Ivan’s Pies They have a factory outlet which we must visit once we return home from Cairns. The big cottage pie was normally $14 at Coles here, but on special for $12. I could have got 3 feeds out of it but settled for two, did not have extras, veg etc with it. I would buy them again.

Not a bad priced meal for two with the price of meat these days. It would cost as much to make it.

They really are pretty good, trying hard to cut back on carbs, so while the spud doesn’t help the lack of pastry is a plus,

Question: Does a pie “without” pastry qualify as a PIE? 🤔🤔🤔 what say you Mr Google. PS: Looks delicious regardless.

Next time you make savoury mince cook and mash some potatoes as well, put the mince in the bottom of an ovenproof dish, then the mash on top. Rough up the top of the mash with a fork, brush with a little butter and bake until the top is golden.

My friend bakes sliced bread in the oven and puts it in bottom of ovenproof dish.
