I don't know what age bracket you are in but many years ago there was Royal Crown and that was VERY southern......Royal Crown Cola and Moon Pies.......those were southern "snacks" LOL.

Coke, Pepsi and RC all cost the same, but you only got 6 1/2 oz with a Coke; 12 with a Pepsi and 16 with RC. I still wouldn’t drink RC.

I don't drink any of them......I was just giving an example of "southern sweets"...........

I am a Ginger Ale drinker when it comes to soda........and it would be diet Ginger Ale.

Have you ever had Vernors?  I grew up with this ginger ale and it is delicious. My Mom would add vanilla ice cream and make us Vernors floats.

69. I remember Royal Crown and Moon Pies. Lived in Chattanooga for about 30 years, and Moon Pies started there, 1902.

I was talking to a friend a few  minutes ago, and we agreed that 100 years no longer seems like a long time.

Fever Tree makes a delicious Ginger Beer. Very assertive and flavorful. Makes Ginger Ale seem tame in comparison.

@Lois R, you would like it if you like Ginger Ale, but unfortunately I don't think they make a diet version.

Figured I'd post a few pix from our trip west.

We flew into Salt Lake City then drove to Bryce the next day. 2 nights there, then 2 nights in Moab. We drove north, stopped in Ogden UT for a night, then Boise for 2 nights. From Idaho we drove to Bend OR for 3 nights to use it as a base for Crater Lake. Then 2 nights at a winery in the Willamette Valley before flying back from Portland.

Chris captured the sunrise at sunrise point, in Bryce.

At the bottom of the Fairyland Loop Trail in Bryce, you can see the "Tower Bridge" above us.

At Deadhorse Point SP near Moab you have a sweeping view of Canyonlands NP.

We did a 4-mile hike through Blue Basin at the John Day Fossil Beds in Eastern Oregon.

At another part of the John Day Fossil Beds, there were painted hills in a beautiful red color.

Crater Lake was worth the drive.

Paulina Creek Falls, South of Bend on the way to Crater Lake. It's precipitating. And it's solid.  Because the temperature was 39F.

Next day. Crater Lake round 2. Beautiful.

The American west sure is pretty. Can't wait to go back and keep looking for other beautiful places to see.

In Washington State they often think I am a local.

Tomorrow I'm off to see if I & the I-phone can take a beautiful picture of Iowa, maybe entice you and Chris to the heartland.  But JP, your pictures are beautiful, particularly love the sunrise at Bryce.  I may have to cheat a bit and feature granddaughters in any photos 🙂

The discussion of accents is so interesting.  Just me, but when I hear our mother tongue spoken with a pronounced accent, or with a few words I don't ken, it makes me happy and grabs my interest.  Male or female, doesn't matter.  Can't explain, but I welcome how we all speak English, and have always found I learn something from those I didn't understand at first.

I'm partial to the foreground subject in that photo. The canyon was a gorgeous backdrop as well.

After we took these pictures we did the hike down to Queens Garden and finished the Navajo Loop. Definitely beat the crowds that way.

Cell phone cameras are really good for landscape shots. Every one of these photos was taken with my Samsung Galaxy S10+. I didn't bring a camera on this trip.

jp, I hardly need to say that your pictures are stunning.  We have some lovely scenery here, but all on a much smaller scale!  I could hardly believe the Tower Bridge; had never heard of it.

Que - I guess you are Scottish?

I think Julie Andrews' accent is regarded as a bit old-fashioned in the UK now; even the Royal family are sounding much less 'upper class'  - including the Queen if you listen to some of her broadcasts from many years ago.

It is a wonderful year for the roses here - how are they over the pond?

A bit of a pot-pourri of a post here; sorry.

Nice to see JP's photos of the American West.  Such a wonderful place to drive around.  Of course, UK scenery can't quite match that.  But the USA doesn't have 13th century castles, like this one at Caernarfon.  Finding a nice hotel in North Wales is difficult but we highly recommend this one, Pale Hall (pronounced Parlay), which we should have stayed at last Christmas.

Good one M. I can relate, especially this week! Still going to bed too late after adjusting to Pacific Time. Have been on call this week but luckily not for the weekend. So I'm hoping to catch up soon.

I have been to Caernarfon. Wales was on my to do list and when I had my cruise booked with Silversea for the British Isles they cancelled Wales. Therefore, I did not take the cruise and instead had to go with another cruise line.

Part of my heritage is Welsh, and this was an important stop. I adored all of the castles, the countryside, Edinburgh and Highlands, etc.

Downton Abbey is coming out again this Winter. I can't wait :)) One of my favorites.

Lovely, Stumbles.  I am amazed at how tough they are; all ours were here when we moved in 20 years ago, planted by the previous owner, a keen gardener.  They thrive in spite of very little attention;  pruned in the winter by the chap who mows our lawns, and I do my best to deadhead to get more in the summer, but they get no other pampering, and still come up roses, to coin a phrase.  They look really pretty  against an old brick wall, about 10' high, which borders one side of the garden.  Sorry I am too incompetent to take and send any pics.
