What I read before is there is some danger in men getting blood from women who had been pregnant…even women who perhaps didn’t know they had been pregnant…so it was safer to ask for male blood for men. Can’t explain the medical reasons. Someone on the rollcall mentioned that too. They said there is a risk of transfusion related acute lung injury (TRALI).

Rare Lionesss Posted May 13 #121481 Share Posted May 13 If any wants to watch a great spy movie. US vs RUSSIA. Watch the movie ANNA. It is on Netflix. And has many twists and turns that you think you have it figured out then BAM, surprise new turn of events. I have watched it twice and cannot believe how many things I missed the first time. Enjoy I did.

We are in the middle of renovations and I have not read or seen any news in the last few days. I remember the first time I saw them it was so fascinating but that was the one and only time I have seen them around here. I went out with my phone camera. And I could see the white light, but I just figured it was light from downtown coming up into the hills. There have been lots of fabulous photos. I am sure, that as I get older, I will tell people that I remember seeing the phenomenon. ☺️ 1

Notice the filet on the menu. There is also a separate breakfast menu that is left on your bed every evening. How on earth do you decide what to order? Will you ever get used to the Windjammer again? 4

So time was a priority in starting a family. However; My first pregnancy ended in a disaster when I started let’s just say losing massive quantities of blood. They were unable to save the baby. Being of the medical profession and also being stupid at times. I refused blood transfusions because I did not want any antibodies interfering with a future pregnancy. So I was discharged on iron 4 x a day and not permitted to drive till my Hgb was above 10 ( um it was 6.5). This emergency happened on Mother’s Day 1992. We were given the go ahead late summer to start our family. Then in September I was pregnant. And had a miscarriage on Sweetest day in October. I hated holidays. And Mothers Day was very emotional for me. We gave up trying. It wasn’t to be. But on St Patrick’s day 1994. The spouse was sick as a dog. And I suggested we give it one last attempt to work on the job of getting pregnant. Not just a time for us to bond. ( I was looking at cycles on my calendar. I thought I could be ovulating). He goes. “ I can’t breathe… and you want to………” I go if we get pregnant we will call the child Ampicillin. I found out I was pregnant on Good Friday and went into labor on Christmas Eve. Meet our ampicillin ( Christina). Soon to be 30. Now. Life happens for a reason. Had I had those first two children chances are we would have never known Christina. Meet Ampicillin (Christina) I am blessed. I LOVE MOTHERS DAY. HAPPY MOTHERS DAY - To all who have any role in raising children. 💕 Christina is beautiful.

No further announcements. Since we didn’t get to Bermuda, we are due in St Marteen at 7am instead of noon. Our course hasn’t changed at all according to the position map on the tv. Noon would have been a very late arrival. You are much better off getting there at 7 AM.

I saw one or two people get knocked down, a few hats and bags being blown in to the sea. Glad I did it, not sure I'd do it again. I didn't want the full force of a large jet so I decided to try it with a private jet taking off. I realized later that the engines on a private jet are often as powerful as full sized commercial jets. The force immediately knocked me off the rock that I was standing on. Hat blown into the water, sunglasses nearly so. I was sacrificing everything else but making sure that I held onto the DSLR around my neck. Glad I did it, definitely won't be doing it again.

brookmill18 Posted May 13 #121500 Share Posted May 13 @Jimbo We just returned from a trip to Spain. We originally were going to do the TA on Oasis and then spend 6 nights on land. We got an incredible deal on the TA but we ended up cancelling bc it was just too many days away from home. So instead of about 20 nights away we were away 12 and saw a lot more of Spain. We decided that for now, in this stage of life, we won't do cruises in Europe and will do only land based. One exception would be Croatia--we did that in the fall with Azamara and it was amazing and in 9 days we saw so much more than we would have in a land based trip. We drove a car for the first half of this trip when we were in smaller towns/cities and then dropped off car and did Barcelona and Madrid via train. We have found trains in Europe to be very easy. It seems like you do a lot of road trips at home, so not sure if you'd want to think about doing Europe that way as well--we've used trains only on our trips to Norway and Italy and now did half of Spain but realized we could have done all of our trip just with trains except for one rural location. We have used Rick Steves guides for day tour in Italy and use his guides for our own touring. Another tour group we have known people to use is Trafalgar. My only slight reservation with a Rick Steves full tour would be the accommodations--we stay in simple places on our own often but prefer to pick those out on our own. And definitely pack as light as possible and try to do laundry--there is a lot of lugging the bags around unless you are doing a very high end tour. Last year the train to Lake Como was a nightmare with larger bags and we'll only do the carry on size bags and back pack from now on. 7
