He sent me a cryptic text saying “I’m trying to decide if I need to try to help you.”  😵💫  Currently I feel about contractors they way I feel about attorneys.  (No offense to any attorneys reading this…)

I would have sent back a note saying I've already decided that I don't need, or want, your help.

There's only one near where I live now and I'm not disappointed that it is only one.  I've never understood peoples love for KK.  Their coffee is rubbish.

I think the secret is to get the Kripy Kreme donuts fresh. My introduction to KK was visiting Mohegan Sun casino in CT. They have a bakery onsite attached to the retail store so you can watch the donuts being made. I'd buy a dozen or so as soon as they hit the store shelf & would eat half of them on the 2 hour drive home.  Creme filled are the best as they really put a lot of creme into the donut unlike Dunkin which has but a hint of creme on the top & the entire inside of the donut is just plain donut.

However, when buying them at a stand-a-lone store or supermarket, they are not as good. Perhaps they have really inconsistent quality control

I never had KK coffee. I used to like Dunkin coffee but now it taste like lightly coffee-flavored water to me.   Same with Tim Hortons, both US and Canada locations.  Starbucks is okay but I usually avoid ordering from there as it's just too intimidating. Surprisingly, McDonald's has pretty good coffee most of the time.

We are taking him out to dinner after school to celebrate.  His choice, so we don’t know where we will end up yet. The big party will be on the weekend.

Happy 10th birthday to your grandson today Mark.

I have not but friends have told me the games are really fun & family friendly. There is always some kind of entertainment between innings  to keep the kids entertained.

I have a friend living in Fishkill who goes to a lot of the games. It is similiar to LI where we have the Ducks.Parking is free or at least it was the last time I was there in 2019.

I hope you enjoyed the Yankees game last night.

A few pictures before the heavier plastic walls go open.

This view is from the Hallway where 2 bedrooms are located at.

View from Fireplace toward the Kitchen. Could never see that far before because there was a huge wall there, see wires coming up through the floor where the wall was.

This view is from coming in from the garage into the kitchen.

This view from the front door.

This view from the old pantry that was in the corner, could never see this before.......the new fridge location will now have this view.

This is going to be the "Money Shot" though, when coming in the  front door , you can now see both the  Fireplace, Sunroom and the  Outside Deck . Before could never see the outside deck from the front door.

I haven’t been to a game in years but Yankees finish the season here and we will go to game 161, good luck be nice to break the record at home , he may also be the first Yankees triple crown winner since my hero Mickey Mantle did it in 1956. Totally agree real record is 61.

The real record is 73 .Although we all believe that Bonds did not do it naturally we have no idea if the players of the 20’s and forward used anything to enhance their production.

@Jimbo  We did a kitchen and family room redo in 2009. Can’ t believe it was that many years ago. It was,and can be,a tremendous undertaking. However,we are still pleased  the redo and plan not to go through it again.

We also did a redo in a Florida condo in 2013, but instead of new cabinets, we had the existing ones refaced by Home Depot. We were pleased with that job was it was finally done .

Doing  home renovations at this time with supply chain shortages, inflated  prices and lack of skilled labor must be extra challenging.

I do have a question. How are you and your wife dealing with meals?

The redo at home took over a month.I set up a “kitchen” in our living room with coffee maker, toaster and microwave . We did a combination of take out, bbq, going out for dinner and friends’ invitations to their homes for dinner to get by.

We used paper plates and plastic utensils. One good thing was that our contractor set up the kitchen sink for us to use during most of the redo. I heard stories of people washing dishes in the bathtub.

Wishing you continued good luck for the job ahead. A major home redo requires a lot of patience,a good sense of humor and a full wallet.

Our youngest daughter has red hair. Neither of us do, nor do any of our parents or any of our siblings. Yet my sister also has a red headed son. There’s a recessive gene in there somewhere.

I was a red haired kid .I never met another person with red hair until 1960.

I don’t think I posted this here but I know many of you will appreciate it. This is a Kraken Painkiller in the Two70 Lounge to start yesterday’s happy hour. Incredible views from the Two70 Lounge. It has become one of our favorite places on the ship. Cheers!

So, I come from a very large family.  My dad was one of 9, my mom, one of 5.  I've never met half of my dad's siblings, they spread out in the states.  I have/had 7 siblings, 2 of my brothers are now deceased.  Anyway, my mom had light brown eyes, my dad had green.  My oldest sister and I have green eyes. 2 sisters have brown, two brothers had brown, and my twin brothers both had blue.  One of the twins' eyes turned green/hazel as an adult.

Jim has brown eyes, as did his mom.  His  dad had blue

Our 3 daughters all have brown eyes..our oldest, very dark brown;. Our twins have a light brown, almost a little hazel.

Four of my grandchildren have brown, two are blue, and one has my eyes.. both in color and shape.

My father was one of 15.I only knew one sister and one brother .

My mother was one of 15 and the same there I only knew a sister and a brother. My mother and my father each lost siblings who died in concentration camps.I am an only child.I had red hair and my parents had brown hair as did their siblings who I knew.

You are so right, not sure how my Wife and I would be handling it without a second full kitchen downstairs. Previous Owner put in an in law suite downstairs so meals really aren't a problem.

Some of the excess dishes etc are in one of the empty bedrooms on the main floor, pantry items I tranfered onto  golf cart and took around back to our walk in basements and everything is located in my work shop.........Downstairs kitchen is about 10 ft through a door from my work shop.

So right, on a FULL Wallet being needed 🙂  We have all the new appliances, the kitchen faucet is finally arriving next week...........all bricks are here for both fireplace, wall above cabinets and brick pavers for the floor, took 3 months for those to get here.

Only thing we are waiting for are the cabinets which should be here 2nd week of October.

They also will be painting the ceiling and walls and trim in that area.. We are having 2-  12' stained beams put up too. They are both all ready here too as is all like fixtures.

This has been a long process.

My son likes to tell the order taker at SB that is name is "Meow, M-E-O-W."  When is order is ready, they shout out "Meow?  Meow???"

I may or may not have done that at the SB in the FLL airport one time.

Dust has been minimal so far, They have a blower with a hose going out the front window. Also the return air duct for the Air Conditioner has 2 filters on it.............But the key thing is when they are working they have turned off the AC unit completely so not to suck any of that direct through the AC system.

When they leave I have waited for about 1 hour before turning the AC back on............We set the AC on 70 degrees, Temps have got  as high as 78 degrees when they leave.

They are here for the 4th day today, today they are tackling getting off the glue that previous floor guy put on the underside of the backer board that is on the plywood...........Will need a clean smooth surface before installing our Old Mill Paver tiles 1/2" thick.............These bricks will not be put down until the very end of the reno.

Today they also will take down ceiling fan, pendant lights we are doing away with and other can lights we are doing with out......With be drywalling various spots and putting up a NEW more heavier plastic walls, with zipper doors in a more defined smaller areas, to give us more room for us and the cats to move around on the main floor level.........mostly we are living out of the basement except to sleep.

The backer board will be installed over the entire floor once all the old glue is taken off.  New Cabinets will be installed on backer boards...............No bricks under the cabinets.......bricks will however be under the fridge.

Last night was the first time our cats have been upstairs in the last 3 days since everything was ripped out. Surprisingly they all did very well.......I put down moving blankets over the exposed plywood where the kitchen floor was......one cat slept on our bed, one cat on the sofa, the other 2 cats slept in the middle of the kitchen floor. My  Wife was very happy how fast they adjusted.

Couple of the cats played under and around the plastic walls and got through in some spots but overall they all did fine.

After today with the heavier plastic hopefully it will be harder for them and they can just travel through the zippered walls like us.

If anyone is bored by my updates, please just let me know and I can stop.

Well, I don’t read most of them, but then I don’t read most of the posts, because page after page occurs between my visits, but I find them less painful than some others to read.  I would never tell anyone not to post.  Ever.
