Blackduck59 Posted June 25, 2020 Author #377 Share Posted June 25, 2020 So over on the Celebrity boards there is a topic about the EU leaving the US off there accepted travelers list. That was an interesting thread. Several indignant Americans and a few grasping at excuses and statistics. Some comments were fairly mild (I think mine were on the mild side) others were down right blunt (mostly from fellow Canadians) others from Americans who also think their national response has been pitiful. It was our Anniversary. What a great show but it's hard to justify the cost. Maybe we'll go next year for our 20th anniversary. Victoria has many beautiful gardens free to the public and much closer to town. Government House and Beacon Hill Park are both excellent, and less than 15 minutes from the Cruise port. For all the friends I've met on this board, if you ever pass this way let us know, it will be great to meet you.

After our Inside passage cruise in 2006, we had 10 days in Vancouver staying at the Hojo (Howard Johnson Hotel) near Granville or was it Glanville Bridge - the red light area. We did day tours to the Gardens, Whistler, Victoria etc with a visit or three to Timmy Hortons for some Canadian Health Food. I liked the Molsons beer in Van. The Coeliac Disease had not hit me then (2010 it hit me) so I could eat and drink all that stuff back then lubbly jubbly. I am not a garden flower lover, in fact I detest gardening, mowing the lawn, thats it. but even the Buchart Gardens impressed me. Blackduck59 Posted June 28, 2020 Author #388 Share Posted June 28, 2020 Well I just took a look at the Celebrity website, we are beginning t consider postponing our trip. We thought a "lift and shift" would work but it looks like the Eclipse will not be doing the Auckland to Melbourne route, as a matter of fact there doesn't seem to be an Auckland to Melbourne route in 2022. It looks like Eclipse is the single Celebrity ship in the region for 2022 and Sydney seems to be the home port not Melbourne. We probably won't be able to do the shift even if we decided to🤔

Blackduck59 Posted June 29, 2020 Author #390 Share Posted June 29, 2020 So Lyndarra is that a 750 four? I never really got into bikes, most of my friends did. I always liked the Honda fours. When I was in high school 2 of my friends bought 400 fours with the money they earned as staff at a Cadet Camp, that was 1976. Dave still wishes he kept that bike. His last Honda is a CB 900 Custom. He still has it but it's in pieces in his mom's basement. Now he rides a Harley. I prefer my creature comforts so I like the roof a car provides when it rains🙂

I rode many types of 'Iron Horses'...Triumph Trophy 650cc, Honda 4's, Kawasaki 900 cc and then Kwaka 1000cc, then the BMW. I think the cops have got the big Yamaha 1100 know, but none down here, just in the city, maybe a couple in Newcastle and Wollongong. During the Sydney Olympics the government leased Harley Davidsons for the escort of VIP's etc.👮♂️ I always thought about buying a motorcycle when I retired in 2003, but my dear wife said, No, you have already used up your nine lives, I probably used up double that with my mishaps.🥵 Edited June 29, 2020 by NSWP

Blackduck59 Posted June 30, 2020 Author #393 Share Posted June 30, 2020 Around here the police have tried a number of different bikes, Honda, BMW, I think they had some Suzukis quite a few years back. They always seem to come back to Harleys, Although the Victory bikes look pretty good.

Some Regions out of Sydney Metro you started duty from home mate. We all had individual bikes, garaged at home, no one else rode them, except when you went on leave and they went in for the big service. I had 4 years at Wollongong, 72-76, lived at Shellharbour, so having departmental transport was good, saving money on petrol when one was a battler, bringing up little kids and paying a mortgage, most of us on here would know how that was back then...Tough. I prefer my creature comforts so I like the roof a car provides when it rains🙂 Just catching up all the threads after spending a day savoring the sights around Gloucester and Dungog. Others here will know where that is, very bucolic. Had lunch in Dungog but no pie but instead a very nice Fosterton Loop sandwich, a variation of a BLT with cheese. The bike is a SOHC 750/4 F1, 1976. I also have a 78 model F2 which came out with dual front discs. Also have a 1972 CB350/4 which doesn't get out these days as the motor is tired and has a bearing issue. The 400/4s were a great improvement over the 350/4 but not as good looking. CB900s are nice but prone to valve train wear from memory. I don't get Harleys at all. My current riders are a Yamaha FJ1200, FJ1100 and Honda GL1500 Gold Wing, the 6 cylinder 1500cc thingy. I have a few others stashed away in the shed as well, about twenty or so last count. The FJ1200 has heated grips which is nice for our winters(?).
