This was just announced by Princess UK - a new MedallionClass enhancement that should be ready for cruises this summer. Some of the features have yet to be rolled out on the App.

Princess Cruises today unveiled Dine My Way, another flexible MedallionClass enhancement that makes it easy for guests to pre-plan and tailor their dining experiences, and pairs with the OceanNow on demand service to offer the ultimate in onboard dining flexibility and convenience.

Dine My Way gives guests the freedom to make reservations in onboard dining rooms and speciality restaurants at times they prefer and with whom they wish to dine. Dine My Way also helps to optimise capacities in dining rooms and restaurants on board, manage wait times, and gives guests significantly more flexibility.

When making a reservation, guests will be able to:
·        add additional friends or family members with whom they are travelling
·        select their preferred pace of dining (relaxed, quick)
·        indicate their desired seating location (near window, close to entrance) in the Ocean profile
·        share dietary preferences and allergen information
·        pick the same venue and dining time each night

“We believe guests are going to love the control and customisation Dine My Way offers,” said Jan Swartz, Princess Cruises president. “Instead of restricting dining choices during the pandemic, we’ve been able to expand the options for our guests and thanks to the unique, innovative capabilities of the OceanMedallion, reduce wait times and eliminate the need to stand in line.”

In addition, Princess’ OceanNow on demand menu has been expanded to include entrees and beverage options from restaurants through-out the ship with guest's requests delivered directly to their location. OceanNow orders can be made using the MedallionClass app on a smart device, via the stateroom TV, or by having a crew member place the order on the guest’s behalf.

OceanNow will also include many expanded personalisation options so guests can order their favourite coffee, select steak sauce toppings and choose pizza condiments, providing more customisation than ever.

“Guests have always appreciated the convenience of OceanNow, and because the pandemic has expanded people’s use of on demand direct delivery services, we think even more guests will embrace the ability to order what they desire and have it delivered to them wherever they are on board,” notes Mario Siebaldi, Princess Cruises senior vice president of Guest Experience. “It not only prevents unnecessary queuing, more importantly it elevates the guest experience.”

Princess MedallionClass holidays are enabled by the award-winning OceanMedallion, a wearable device that pairs with IoT-driven innovation to significantly enhance and personalise the guest experience.

In addition to service on demand, Princess MedallionClass holidays are also marked by streamlined embarkation and disembarkation, touchless payments, and keyless stateroom entry. Additional contactless capabilities accessible using smart phones and tablets include way-finding; family and friends locator; and interactive fun.

PLEASE keep this for my future cruises!! Imagining a voyage where I don't have to meet with the maitre d 1st day to explain a capsaicin allergy 😁 It's not one of the regular ones that I can just select on the app.

It's about time

Thanks for sharing! That looks really promising!! We like to do specialty dining and MDR dining at the same time, same table. This could satisfy that need and free up space when we don’t use the MDR

The more features they keep announcing, the more I am looking forward to using Ocean Medallion!

It's not for us. We always liked the plan the way we feel at the time with Princess and not having to think months, weeks or even days in advance. Although we have been on medallion ships, we always had our phone locked in the safe. Don't want to carry it around. There are two of us with one that can not see very well and can not even use a phone or device.

Princess UK said the stateroom TV will have similar features to the App so you don't need to be glued to your phones.

Something for all of us. You like the red part, I like the white part

This is true. But it is the planning in advance that is of concern. I am aware that it is liked by some. Some will like to have their entire cruise planned out months in advance. I see a rush months in advance when the reservation window opens to get your times, locations and events that you think want before they are filled. For us we have been taking b2b2b's and tend to be on board for 30, 40 days at a time, floating around and enjoying ourselves. It is a lot different than being on a week or 10 day cruise. Each day we decide what we want to do, then decide when and where we want to dine. I guess if we have to we will plan in advance if we have to, but I see lots of no shows for us.

We do not like the red part. Haven't used traditional dining in years & years. We have been using ATD since it was introduced way back in the early 2000's. We decide each day. It's like this. Lets skip lunch and eat dinner at 5pm. Let's go to the early show today and eat dinner late. We are tired of the DR lets get a burger and fries at the grill or a few slices of pizza. The buffet is our choice tonight. I guess we will have to work this out if we continue cruising.

will a version of the Patter be online for at least the next 7 days or so?

we/she plans what "we" want to do the next day when the Patter arrives in our room the night before

Dining for us at least fits in around that - not dining first ,

Us also. Dining is secondary.

Guests will still be able to walk up and request to be seated as it works today with anytime dining.  This just allows those who wish to plan in advance the ability to do so.

so you'll get to the front of the anytime dining room, look inside and see plenty of empty tables - what about that one ??? - sorry, it's reserved 30 minutes from now and we can't turn it over that quick ... please take a beeper ...
