How will we deal with lack of karaoke?

Reading the updated FAQ, I see karaoke and other favorites are no longer available: "Shared experiences and larger group events including indoor dancing, nightclubs, karaoke and singing groups, The Voice of the Ocean, behind-the-scenes tours, Captain’s Champagne Waterfall, and group renewal of vows will not be available during these cruises, with the exception of select instructor-led classes hosted with physical distancing.".  Lots to learn in the updated FAQ, including many examples of how Princess expects the medallion app to help resolve many concerns.

Church Services on board will be be halted I suppose, unless attendees are well spaced out.

Cruise critic meet and greets, veterans and other affinity group get together, anything Captains Circle related…it’s a different world now.

They did not list these things.  Even if Princess staff doesn't choose to attend, I don't see how/why they would stop a gathering of passengers.  Guess it might depend on the size.  Is sail-away on deck gone too?  That's outdoors.  They could do some more things outdoors in the evening in right climate.

IMO, their set of rules and things that can be experienced and won't be experienced are full of contradictions and not following current science/health for fully vaccinated.

Of course the Casino is operating as normal it would seem.  Of course they are going to allow smoking to go on, but heaven help us if a fully-vaccinated group wants to get together for some reason.  Is the message smoking is safer?

I am not a karaoke fan, but what is the difference between one person at a time up at the front singing versus 2 or 3 crew members up there talking and running a game show?  Which game shows will be 'on' and which will be 'off'?

I sure hope all this stuff only applies to 2021 departures.  Or is it only until the "NO Sail" order expires?  It doesn't seem crystal clear to me what "these voyages" covers.

The Piazza has lots of entertainment all day long.  Are they banning that?  How are they going to control cruisers in the Piazza and atrium areas on Sea Days and in evenings?  Why cancel the Champagne thing?  I suppose that brings an extra crowd, but some of the entertainment equally fills the area.

I cannot apologize for believing in the vaccines.  Princess is putting on way more restrictions than CDC for fully-vaccinated.  I suppose they want to be extra cautious at first.  I am glad we are not among the first to return to sea.  I am very interested to read about and understand the experience, but I think I would be frustrated after a day or two of all these things not going on and social distancing which isn't necessary for full-vaccinated.

I guess cruisers can try on clothing in their own stateroom and then return anything they don't want.  If we were buying any clothing, I'd have done that anyway.  Seems more convenient.

Don't like lack of personal interaction with Stewart.  I suppose we will still see him/her in the hall time to time to say "Hi".

I hope waiters are not spraying down cloth chairs in the DR.  Wouldn't want to sit down on damp materials.  Why would I worry about where someone else's posterior was seated?

Anyway, since they say this right off the bat:  "If you're sailing on one of these cruises, guests who are fully vaccinated can enjoy taking in a show, sharing a world-class meal, and other onboard experiences without wearing a mask or physical distancing.", I thought things would be more "normal".  Just my thinking, but it certainly shows they are doing everything they can to avoid an outbreak.

I know many will be happy to see all this, but I will be happy when things are normal again. I just think some things are over-the-top on the caution side.  But, we can choose to sail or choose to stay home and do something else and wait.

I guess the guinea pigs will get all the kinks out and hopefully zero outbreaks and Princess will relax.  And we will all relax.

Gee, a combination of higher prices to cruise together with a reduced experience on board.

Better have karaoke by our November cruise!

I always treated Karaoke just like another way to spend time in a bar drinking but also having a chance to sing in a company of friends. If you ask me, I hope Karaoke will be there

So many limitations ...

I wonder about tendering ... will each water shuttle be launched with only 5 or so onboard?  Or will it be an exception, and treated as the usual sardine can?

Meet my comedy writer.

OP:How will we deal with lack of karaoke?

Answer: Just fine.

Closest we have been to karaoke is listening to some of the  long ago Princess Pop Star audition rounds which reinforced why we never went to regular karaoke.  We did enjoy the singers that made it to the finals of the Voice of the Ocean

Honestly I kinda want or need a late night bar type thing.  More unhappy whatever nightclub they may have had is closed.

People will still gather.  There is no chance they won't; if they don't come up with something you'll just have this mass gathering of people with nothing to do.  Stupid ***** tends to happen in moments like that.

I'm thinking we'll see considerable changes from what Princess has put out.  It literally could change each cruise and maybe back to pre-covid days by December.  Now it may be different in Europe, but around North America, that seems fairly plausible. If Broadway is open.. so will cruises??

I happened on karaoke one night on a cruise and there were a couple of quite good singers. On two other cruises I was on hand for try outs for The Voice of the Ocean. OMG! There were some truly horrible singers. One guy (granted he was having a freaking GREAT time) was trying to sing What's New Pussycat. It's bad enough that I don't like the song and don't care for Tom Jones but... The man was Korean and couldn't say "whoa, whoa, whoa". It came out as, What's a new pussycat? Roah, roah, roah".

Please don't misunderstand me. I have no issue with the man's nationality or his pronunciation of the words. It's not his fault that he speaks that way. English is definitely not his first language. However, in the context of The Voice of the Ocean tryouts... it wasn't good. Like I said though, the man was obviously having a freaking wonderful time and it made one feel happy so I guess it's all good after all.

We actually went to one of The Voice of the Ocean things. Meh... we found it contrived and the singers weren't all that good. Where we did find a good singer - as well as a really great singer - was in the crew talent show on one cruise. Wow. There were some good singers and one was amazingly good. Vastly superior to anybody we saw entered in the passenger show.  Princess has some hidden gems in their crew roster.

We soooooooooo miss cruising. We soooooooooo miss meeting other passengers and, especially, the crew. Often the crew members are what really makes the voyage special. We've met a number of crew who made such a huge difference. (And, sadly, a couple who were truly poor. Both on the same cruise. One steward who was really awful and one assistant CD who was rude, unprofessional, and really needed to be fired. I hope the pandemic got rid of him as an employee.)

I find the lack of karaoke very sad. I'm hoping it will be back by our December Cruise

I think all Cruise lines will have karaoke. Just think they get the passengers to entertain the other passengers and no one gets paid 😳 So look at all the money they save by not paying for entertainers.

That's an excellent question that I hadn't thought to wonder about. Guess we'll find out.
