I'm guessing are plentiful and close to the cabins?

Thinking about 4 of us in a cabin with just one toilet. Inc a teen who thinks nothing of spending an hour in there. Not so good with a 5 year old whos dying to go!

I could shove the teen out the door to use the public ones while rest of us are able to use the cabin one/have a shower.

There are plenty of public toilets on board but they are located mostly near to public areas public areas. So their proximity to your cabin will depend on your location.

But we're talking minutes walk?

It is ship specific but in most cases they are on specific decks usually near the elevator lobbies and convenient to venues such as the theater, main dining rooms, specialty restaurants, gym, pools, etc. But they are not generally in stateroom hallways or close by to staterooms unless your stateroom is near one of these venues.

Good advice to look at the deck plans specific to your ship on your cruise line website.

Depending where your cabin is it might include going up or down flights of stairs and walking a long corridor.

It’s best to rules before leaving home. The bathroom is very tight and so are the cabins especially with 4.

There are public bathrooms on the decks where there are public rooms. Most of the cabins are on decks that do not have public rooms and therefore do not have public bathrooms. I would suggest that soon after boarding, you locate the public bathrooms near your cabin.

As others have said, it really depends on where your cabin is located. In general, public restrooms are located near public areas. On decks that have only staterooms, there will be no public restrooms. And public restrooms will always be minutes away - how many is a different story.

But to be honest, your daughter might be more comfortable going to the locker room in the ship's gym - many people use it to get ready when the one in their cabin is occupied, rather than get ready in a public restroom......

Sometimes need to use public toilets on cruises..usually on decks where there are public rooms, restaurants, pools etc.

My huge concern is the number of people who come out of cubicles and leave the facility without washing their hands.

My husband says this is also the case in Men's public toilets on board. I would take anti bac wipes with you !

I realise this is an issue in toilets on land as well as on board but just pointing it out.

nowhere 'close' to cabins. they are mostly situated in the heavily trafficked public areas: poolside, outside the theater and restaurants, near the lounges.

most people use the locker rooms in the gym/spa for an extra shower spot.

not necessarily. it could be the closest one to your cabin is up or down a couple of decks and at the other end of the ship. the teenager is going to have to adjust their habits.

Same as in a hotel ... PUblic Restroms are in 'public areas,,,,,,,,,,, they are near dining rooms, lounges, show room, pool, casino etc........ as oen would expect as .that is where they are needed. They are for the pub lic use so need to be where the public gathers when out and about.

That is a challenge and hard for me to picture four people (and a teen) with only one bathroom. Is it out of the question to have two cabins? Thaty is going to be a loooong week. :)

What is the teen doing in the bathroom? If she is doing hair, makeup, etc... You can't plug in any hair appliance in the bathroom. Only outlet there - if any - is only suitable for shaver. There usually is not much counter space. Make sure all makeup, etc. is out by the desk. That's also where the haidryer will be, and outlets for other gadgets. Should free up the bathroom. EM

It's interesting how times/culture has changed. I grew up in a house of 4 and for many years we only had one bathroom, and my grandmother's house only got a second bathroom added when she could no longer manage stairs. Today it seems very odd to only have one bathroom in a house, but several years early in our marriage we only had one bathroom.

Grew up in a house of 11 people and one bathroom. No problems. take a bath, use restroom. Get out. Not a problem if you are considerate of all the people in the house.

As a mom of 4 kids, grand-mom of eight kids, just make a rule before you leave that no body gets more than 15 mins in the bathroom. If more time is going to be needed go to the restrooms at the gym or spa.

Many of us older folks grew up in homes with many kids and had only one bathroom. In my case, 9 kids, 1 grandma, and 2 parents, in 3 bedroom house, 1 bathroom and we made it work.

This can be done on a ship too. Blow drying hair and curling irons, makeup can be done at the desk in the stateroom usually.

I have read here people also go to the gym for showers when the cabin is crowded. There are showers u can use there and I think they have towels there.

Absolutely, people do that all the time. But the spa and gym are not often in the midst of cabins.

Traveled for several years with dw myself and 2 kids (sometimes in an inside cabin) with no problems. Everyone just has to adapt and respect everyone else. I really do recommend using the Gym change room, I find it is usually very nice and very under used, most times I was the only one in there. I also agree I was raised in a house with only one bathroom and survived. Do not understand why some people think that a family of 4 needs 4.5 bathrooms. Just MHO

my husbands childhood home : 6 kids, 5 girls. ONE bathroom with a tub in total( not even the master bedroom had a shower stall or tub) on my side, cousins in (very) rural Kentucky: 5 kids plus a mother in law. one OUTHOUSE until the youngest was in middle school and they got indoor plumbing in the late '70s
