Throw in some beverages and food it makes it that much better. Years ago (back in the 80's), when Vancouver had a AAA baseball team. For a couple years we used to go to home games Friday night after work. But that was just an excuse to drink, eat peanuts and be loud and obnoxious. Kind of pre party get ready for the rest of the night before doing something else. We didn't care who won or lost. Back when Toronto was won the two World Series in 92 and 93 I tried again to get into it and watch and follow the games but I just couldn't do it. I'd fall asleep before the 7th inning. We started watching soccer when our son started playing at about 7. We decided we needed to see what the sport really looked like. During the season we’re up early to watch EPL matches. This weekend we will watch the US team and try to catch some of the other national teams.

Beautiful summer nights, keeping score, the food, the cheering, being fanatical about your team, all that good stuff. And in my case, we had an added personal connection to a professional player. I love baseball so much. I am very sad when the season and post-season ends. ⚾

There is no sport like baseball. The winning team ALWAYS has to give the losing team a chance to come back. There's no stalling, no icing, no kneeling, no running out the clock. Every ballpark is different. Stats mean something. There is nothing in any sport equal to a home run. Also, Opening Day should be a national holiday.

It is an interminably boring game. <fire suit on> My 2 favorite - and only - sports I watch are hockey and baseball. Go figure, the worlds fastest game and the worlds slowest game. I enjoy both but for different reasons. Hockey is my favorite & probably for the same reasons you are a hockey fan. The speed, the passing, the (now rare) big hits. I even don't mind the occasion, well timed fight but was never a fan of the bench-clearing brawls of yesteryear. Every goal is a big deal & you literally can not blink or look away for you might miss something. With baseball, sure you stil have your favorite team and players that your root for. But a slower, more relaxed pace gives you time to hang out, eat, drink & socialize. You focus only on the battle between pitcher & hitter and who will win that battle. Over and Over. Will he hit a home run, w bunt a guy into scoring position, steal a base or will the pitcher strike him out. Having said all that, I almost never watch baseball on TV unless its playoffs. My prize possessions are a Mickey Mantle signed baseball and a signed sports illustrated. Wife has converted me to being a Buffalo Bills fan . Funny story about a dozen or more years ago we were on a Princess cruise out of New York City, we were at a table for four and my wife and her mother were sitting across from me , now I sometimes kid my wife , so when I told them that Doug Flutie was at the table behind them they both called me a liar . But then sneaked a peak and it was Flutie , we saw him every day at dinner the pool the casino. On last day he got up and started talking to some people and we told him Buffalo was crazy to release him and I was able to take a picture of him with my wife and in her heals she was about the same size. We also have a picture of us with Dirk Nowitzki .

I once asked what they found so fascinating about watching golf & the answer was because they enjoy playing golf. I replied: "I love eating steak and drinking beer but I'm not going to spend 4 hours in front of a TV watching other people eat steak and drink beer". 😅😅 Yeah, they didn't find it funny either.

Except for one week in March (Oasis of the Seas w/ UDP) It's been slow but steady progress. I'm 6'2" so I can handle a little bit more weight but my goal is 230# Congratulations Dave! They charge you for a bad cake, and they sing happy birthday to you, like Tarzan, frankenstein and Tonto…. SNL when it was funny. I truly hate it, and have avoided it for years now. For any special occassion. I am more likely to tell the bartenders…. 😆 1
Rare cruiselvr04 Posted October 13, 2023 #105471 Share Posted October 13, 2023 On Radiance now. Due to hurricane Lidia we will have our 6th sea day in a row tomorrow. Still having a great time. Ate way too much at Chops tonight. Looking forward to dry land on Saturday. We have been rocking and rolling but today seas were smoother.

He was a stats geek! He'd quote all kinds weird and esoteric stats. He would talk about teams from years ago... their records or particular greats on the team's records. It was always so bizarre to me. I see the passion and appreciate that part of it. In spite of that and my efforts to like it it just never gabbed me.
