We had learned, I think our 3rd trip to Disney, with our boys between 10 and 14 yrs old that they were bored with Disney.  They told us they enjoyed going on road trips and seeing new places much better than Disney.

We were really happy to hear that as we also liked road trips and checking out new sites and learning all about them.

My niece and her family decided they had enough with Disney and loved there symphony cruise, her parents are taking there entire family on a European cruise all 11 people , this is on celebrity apex.

I hope your Bonnet Creek unit was on the side that faces the parks. Fun to see the fireworks in comfort!

We are on the 3rd floor in Building #3 facing the lake. , Tonight after getting back  Magic Kingdom we went over to Back Bay Bar and Grill. and watched the 2nd Half  of the 49ers and Cowboys game. Hoping we would hear some fireworks from that location but we didn't hear anything. We were there from about 8pm to 9:30pm. So still not sure which buildings have a fireworks view.

Do you think the bathroom scale is trying to tell me something?  Actually, it exploded while no one was around.  I guess that's better than happening while someone was standing on it.

That looks like the scale I use to have.  Fortunately, mine just stopped working and didn't blow up.

I love hearing the back stories on screen names.
On a cruise, I'm as likely to be called Debbi as I am Brillo, and I'm fine with it.  Trust me, I've been called MUCH worse than Brillo!  😉

I remember the first time I met you, I walked up to you and said "you must be Brillohead"  It was from the way you described yourself on the roll call. 😁

My screen name is easy enough to figure out, especially with my avatar.  My two cats at the time; one was Tasmania (because she was a little devil) and the other was Remington (because he was a real pistol), thus 'taznremmy'.

Our shower door did that in the guest bathroom. We were watching TV in the afternoon in June and heard this weird noise down the hall. We went down to look, and the tempered glass was all on the floor, still popping and bouncing. No one ever uses that shower. I took a lot of photos (non-digital) and the receipt down to the installer, and they were nice enough to replace it at no cost.

They said the same thing, it might have been a small crack or defect. It was warm then, but what a mess it made.

Lovely sunny day in Sydney today. 25C and light breeze. Perfect day for a bushwalk in Bouddi National Park, north of Sydney. 83C1CC9D-886A-4ECE-A49A-6FA2091CC179.thumb.jpeg.1f5899b5c216300c65b897b24b505a69.jpeg

Beautiful weather and lovely pics.  We've got a period of very cold weather here. Between -8 and 4c all week. Last night was the coldest January night since 1987.

No snow but widespread frost and bright blue skies

We did something similar for our honeymoon in 1980.  Did a seven day cruise on the SS Norway, then time at Disney after the cruise.  Don’t remember how much it was then, because it was all part of a package deal I had my TA work out.

December, 1973, was my first trip to Disney. Worked it in as part of a road trip to the Orange Bowl with a couple of my fraternity brothers.  Evidently, it cost $5.75 then, or at least that is what I wrote to my mother.

We took my new car (bought with my liquor, or was it Lipitor concession funds), because it was the most reliable.  This is me in the middle in the IC shirt.

Yes, I know, that car was one of a couple bad decisions over the years.  We traveled very cheaply.

Yes, that is one of Florida’s fine beaches.  Maybe we’re we’re pioneering homelessness, because it took a few days for the police to run us out of this site.

Love all these photos.  Do you remember what the car was?  Side note, your cursive writing back then was amazing.

I used to run to Dumbo immediately upon park opening with my younger son... he was probably 2 ....  while my husband took off elsewhere with our other son who was about 3 years older. We would do the Dumbo ride at least two times in a row before the line got insane.

Absolutely insane!  Dumbo had always been a big attraction since our girls were young.  The last time I was at Disney with 2 of our grandsons around 9 years ago, the lines were just as long as they were around 30 years ago!

Had a day at the beach a few days ago. There were people swimming 🥶

And yesterday a walk along the Thames. The river has flooded nearby fields due to the heavy rain last week

And finally a walk this morning across the frosty fields . In the first pic you can see Molly lying down waiting for me to kick her ball

Thankfully no one was taking a shower at the time.  That would have been quite a shocker!

Lovely photos.  I’m amazed by people who swim year round. -8 to 4c is definitely not swimming weather.  Brrr.

Hope the weather warms up for you a bit soon.

Thank you Greg.

We go to church every Sunday.

We were married here 41 years ago.

Paulines mam and dad were married here too and both of their funerals were held here.

Nice Church Graham.

The church where we were thinking of getting married 36 years ago was mentioned in The Doomsday Book, published 1086, but we decided on a church near my parents house. The week before the wedding the original church had a fire in the roof where they were doing repairs and was unusable for months after.

Food photos looked pretty darn good. The wings. 😋

You mentioned fireworks, for the Magic Kingdom this is the fireworks view from The Contemporary Resort. Is the explosion a hidden Mickey ears?

As for hidden Mickeys, we found this along the walk from Magic Kingdom to the Contemporary.  It’s near the bus depot.

This one is in Dinoland at Animal Kingdom. Our plaid pointed it out to use. When they did the asphalt it was purposely inlaided with the imagineers input.

We have seen the fireworks outside from on top the Contemporary Resort, but we have never stayed there since we had time shares at Old Key West on Property and at the Orange Lake Resort on  Rt.192.

It was a 73 Chevy Vega.  I think I paid about $2,300 new for it.  It was about all I could afford at the time.  The front fenders rusted out rather quickly.

There were a lot of stories about that trip that never went into that letter. 😉

That letter was one of a few I saved when we went through things after both my parents passed.

I’d say we’re the odd ones out re:Disney, but the park crowds tell a different story.  We took our kids every year starting in 1991, missing only two years (hello weddings & overlapping college years, lol) They all still love it and are now doing the same with their own kids.  They do take other vacations but Disney is just our nostalgic family vacation place.  For us it’s not even about the rides but about being together in a place with so many memories. Having the DVC membership allows us to bring the whole family every 18 months or so and staying in a 3 bedroom unit, which is what they all want - to be in the same space.

I completely understand that! I love Disney too and it is a nostalgic place for me. I do not frequent it now although it is at my doorstep in the winter and some other times a year. But I still love it and will be a fan. Yes, the prices are very high now for anyone buying tickets. We use passes if and when available.

We owned at Orange Lake while the grandchildren were growing up.
Loved the Lazy River, and the guys enjoyed the golf.
one thing that I loved about it was the landscaping. Over the years, it was always pristine, always healthy.
Those were fun years, Mexican Train at night, in the water all day.

I’m with you. I wished we could of gone every year. We did take Jonathan 3 times. One thing I did was have Linda take a picture of us both. The first time I think he was 3 and I held him in my arms. The second time he was 7 so I recreated the picture and the 3rd time he was 17. I  took all 3 pictures and put them together to show all three. Here is the picture.

Another cool story is that, I got complimentary tickets due to working for an ABC affiliate then owned by Disney. I got 5 tickets even though we needed 3. After getting the tickets we would look for a family that looked like they could of used some help. We would go up to them and ask if they purchased their tickets yet? When they said no we would give them 2 tickets and tell them to enjoy their day. I can’t tell you the joy on their faces as well as shock. We would all cry with happiness. It was a random act of kindness that made our whole trip.

I guess we weren't thinking and missed the boat on Splash Mountain. We didn't take any containers on the ride with us we took yesterday.

They are selling the water from the ride on e-bay.
