All Concierge Lounges now closed to Diamond Plus?

Recommended Posts

I hadn't paid too much attention to ships with Concierge Lounges since none of our recent cancelled booked cruises had a Concierge Lounge.  Did remember here on CC seeing posts that Concierge Lounges had been closed to Diamond Plus cruisers.  Is this the case fleet wide now?

Sorry, screwed up the first post.

up until January all concierges we’re open to D+

all suite lounges were closed to D+

In January some ships started excluding D+ from the concierge lounges.  In some cases it had to do with the numbers of D+ on the sailing.

Ahh...got it.  Didn't really pay much attention.  Thanks!

Nah, it really didn't have to do with the number of D+.  They just did it.

(Yes, they lied)

Hahaha!  No wonder I just semi remember an uproar here on CC.  Makes sense.

Concierge Lounges are closed to everyone now because no-one is cruising.

During lockdown RCL might well be changing all the CL signs to

Suite Lounge and hope when cruising restarts D+ guests will just be glad to  be cruising and say nothing.

With social distancing being crammed in a small lounge might not be an option anyway.

Next step will be to kick D's out DL and make them use the drinks on the card only. DL will become CL and will be for D+ & P

CL will become a SL for suite's only.

Just my opinion though

Hello,

This topic has come up several times before. I cannot remember which time, but someone wrote then that although they received the letter informing them they could not use the CL, their SeaPass card still opened the door and the Concierge did not stop them using it.

Regards,

I'm of a similar belief! .. slightly different in the fact that the D lounges as such won't exist, any lounges will be for Suite guests and Pinnacles and us mere D & D+ will just have a different number of free drinks on our cards daily (maybe all day, maybe usual hours?)

On Freedom Class ships, the CL were turned into cabins at drydock. On Oasis, the DL became cabins. It’s not always a simple sign change.

On all our 5 weeks last winter many Pinnacles with their name tags were always in the very overcrowded Diamond lounge socializing.  If D+ are excluded from the Concierge lounge, Pinnacles should be excluded from the Diamond lounge.

The Diamond lounges are getting so over crowded on some cruises, they do need to consider making them D+ and let the D's use their coupons at the bars.

Totally agree on that one.  We had very low numbers of D+ and only a couple of Pinnies on one Vision cruise in January.  They still kicked the D+ out of the CL.  That lounge was almost empty every night, since Vision has limited full suites.  Tiny DL was nuts, no place to sit, stand in line for a drink.  We chose to just have glass of wine on balcony for our own HH, or just sit at one of the ship's bars using our vouchers.

Just out of curiosity...we tried ours on B2B2B Vision in January, and also on B2B Rhapsody in February.  Didn't work.

Royal should do what Celebrity did for Elite members and above. They let you have have unlimitted drinks are you sea pass card from 5-7pm.

Yes - it is very nice on X and they also pass appetizers around - far better than the crowded D Lounge on Royal + there is an Elite Lounge but it's generally not as crowded.

At the end of the day they have not (yet) officially stated D+ can't access the CL.

In other regions beyond North America D+ had CL access right up to the COVID-19 shutdown.  In North America in many (but not all) cases D+ lost access to the CL on their particular sailing.    Some took to social media and this site to declare that Royal changed their policy across the board but that never officially occurred and some ships outside of North America never implemented a ban on D+ in the CL.

Yes, we enjoyed the elite event on Summit a couple of years ago.  We're going back on her in July 2021 and have classic drink package, $300 obc and something else (can't remember if it's free wifi or included tips).  Of course, they're not really free, but the price isn't bad.  We booked an aqua class cabin so we also get blu dining room.  But the atmosphere in the elite event is very different than the CL and DL.  It was also in a large lounge with plenty of seating and a great view.  We made D after they had kicked D out of the CL.  We used CL a few times before we made D+ because we were staying in GS.  I will say, the CL has changed drastically over the last few years and isn't what it used to be at all.

While this is nice it is not offered on night 1 and the night of the Officer's party so 5 nts out of 7 on a 7 night cruise.

On Celebrity Edge, drinks were provided at some type of top-tier event on the first night. The elite menu of drinks continued to be served after the event seemingly was over.

😉 Celebrity Elite breakfast offers you unlimited Bellinis and Mimosas.  Also Captain's Club has a lunch that offers unlimited drinks. ☺️ Love both Royal and Celebrity.

I totally agree with you MM.  We were told the nonsensical lie that it varied from cruise to cruise and depended on numbers.  Not so.  Even though the CL was empty, we were forced to use the overcrowded D Lounge.
