CL/SL future when cruising returns.

I know the answer from a business standpoint too. But that isn't the true definition of being loyal..... that was my only point.

Loyalty is a lot more than simply dollars spent.

We praise Royal to family and friends and encourage them to stick with one cruise line to build up benefits.  Royal doesn't get any more $$$ from me for this, but is does from those who follow my recommendation.

That kind of loyalty will never show up in my spending.  Too often in today's world we base everything on money.  That's a big mistake!

I could not agree more with everything in your post.

I saw something on the Celebrity web site about that. They reward you with points for your goodwill. It's called Power Up

Power Up points can be exchanged for Captains Club points at a 10 to 1 ratio.

But if the find out you are complaining,  they might take them back😇

Did not mean to offend.  Just don’t believe PhD’s should use the Dr title.  I am a PhD - Organic Chemistry - yes, ,very boring - but never say I’m a doctor

I respect you for that. MD’s surely earned being called doctor both through rigorous years of schooling, residency with demanding hours & now as heroes with COVID. I know that for a fact our son is a doctor & what he went through to be called “doctor”.

Well, the cruise lines need to survive Covid first, then hope their tarnished reputations get polished up fairly quickly. You said one thing quite correctly... all customers are gold, each and every one. And that includes pinnacles in inside cabins.

Some do and some don't, but many are sailing on free casino offers and upgrading for cheap.  No one, including those posting on this thread, know exactly what everyone is doing.  Lots of assumptions being made.

We never use the casino,we don't even use our D+ free casino vouchers.

Our last 50 cruises have been balcony cabin or above because we like fresh air,sea views and to eat our breakfast on the balcony while sailing into port.

Funny story.

While sailing on P&O(balcony) we were in the packed theatre watching a comedian who said :-

Hands Up Everyone sailing in an inside cabin.

No One put their hands up🤫😂

I have cheated on RCI... sailed Carnival in 1998, X in 1999 and 2000, HAL in 2005 princess in 2011, Avalon in 2014 and 2015.  Then there is the stuff I did off ships...  Have visited about 1/2 the planet on airplanes, cars buses and trains.  Have bought two cars in Europe just to drive them around there.  I am not loyal.  I have visited almost every state in the union.... actually I have visited every state in the Union, many of which can not be accessed by a cruiseship....

I suck!

jc

You have had a great life.

Hats off to you,I love travel too but haven't yet done as much as you.👍

Ask Royal or any business if money matters. Especially now.

I would have agreed with you pre-Covid somewhat, but now, the government is funding just about everything, my nephew’s daughter turns 18 Thursday she has worked as a hostess at a very nice Italian restaurant in town, usually 5 to 9. 3 to 5 days a week.  She has made more money collecting unemployment than she ever made being a hostess.  To the tune that she has put money into her savings account over $10K.  Which is more than she acquired in the previous two years.  Surely, some of that money that is being dumped into the economy will end up in the cruise ship coffers when cruising returns.  I hardly think this example is unique.

I am sure you just grabbed the attention of every snowflake that reads these boards. Shouldn't everyone have equal access to cruising?🤔😇

Good for you.  My dad (now 82) has a PhD in Inorganic Chemistry  as well as masters in Chemistry  and a bachelors in Chemistry.  He also had minors in math and physics.  He spent 30 years working in research and ended up running a Federal Office that did research.  He never, ever used his title except in the professional world.  Even then, he never told anyone to call him Dr, although everyone who worked for him and with him did out of respect.  He also holds a patent (with two others), although it really belongs to the US Gov because you know how that works.

You state the obvious, so what's your point?  Of course money matters, but so does so many other factors, like being a good will ambassador for RCCL!

I can just see the next request. Royal needs to pay a referral fee. 😇

Didn't they used to have a "refer  a friend"  program or am I confusing that with my TA?

"Going Forward"  "relied on".....Possibly, those upfront business traveler's will be fewer in number now. Time will tell.
