Royal Caribbean Cruisers -- How Are Things Where You Are? (was "Routine" 😁 day in lockdown... how was yours?)

Recommended Posts

Valencia, Spain was one of the three ports we visited on the TA.  Here is the City of Arts and Sciences.  It is a cultural and architectural complex in the city where it is an important tourist destination.

Has anyone noticed internet pricing recently while on a ship? I am seeing $15.99 today on Odyssey for surf and stream. That seems very good to me. On Allure last April I'm pretty sure it was $24.99 for surf.

BTW, there was no option to book only surf. Does that seem strange?

I did not see surf only on any of my future bookings either.   Yes, $15.99 is good!   Onboard price is something like $25 or $26.99 for most ships.

What can you tell me about the shows on Odyssey? Is something a "not to be missed"? I am feeling like such a novice all of a sudden. I actually need to study deck plans for the first time in a very long time!😮

I liked The Book, go early and get a good seat, lots of areas have bad site lines. Might need to go more than once.

Showgirls was good, but I dozed off for part of it. Long day of drinking.

Didn't care much for Effectors, it was gimmicky. More dissjointed than CAT'S 🤣🤣

The show in Two70 with robot screens was ok

Not sure if the tap dance show is still playing

The tribute bands in Music Hall are worth seeing, but its always crowded. Go early and camp out

You can re read this @Ocean Boy

Two70 is a great venue for many activities such as Bingo, lectures, dance parties and the show The Book which you need reservation for.

The Effectors was in the Royal Theater.  A very well done show with outstanding lighting, staging and special effects.  Other than that, I did not care for the show.

I had surf booked on a future cruise for 16.99/day. I just re-booked surf & stream at 13.99 day.  Surf option gone. As you say, interesting.

Remember the Blizzard of 1977 quite well, we were on our Senior(High School) Class Trip in the Catskills Mountains in upstate NY.

The storm prolonged our trip and got us a few  extra free 😁 days longer trip because it was unsafe to leave the resort.

I was at college/university. I remember it too. They cancelled all classes. We used cafeteria trays as sleds at the New York Botanical Gardens. 🙂🛷❄️

I love the reflection of the clouds.  It looks like a cool place to visit.

On this one particular morning, we were so far out in the ocean that a helicopter had to come take a passenger that needed more care than the ship can offer.  It had to circle around twice.  The Captain had to steer to the north a bit so to create the right condition for the helicopter to drop the basket.

Your Meleti bottle is looking a little low.  Mine's the same way.  Too many Sea Dog Special Old Fashioneds?  I also noticed the Weller and the Eagle Rare "hiding" behind the Knob Creek?  If that's the Weller 12, I'll hop in my car and start driving to KC right now.

We want to be able to text our daughter in NJ while we're cruising.  We don't need email or video chat.  Which plan is best?  We never felt the need before.

I don't believe texting will work with either.  You will need to use messenger or Whats app and surf will be fine

I see what you're doing there.  Trying to pull me into an argument about what is considered upstate.  Not taking the bait.  Nope. 😁

I actually googled Catskills, to make sure I spelled it right. That is where I saw upstate NY.  Our high school was in South Jersey............So I doubt really at that time we really would go that far to Upstate NY anyway.

I see now it's actually between NYC and Albany, so you are correct that really wouldn't be upstate.

Now the high school I went to now has Senior Class trips in Disney in Florida.........I was born to early I guess to go that far for a trip.
