Rare ColeThornton Posted November 10, 2022 #2 Share Posted November 10, 2022 Like most people do I get something to eat and drink then explore the ship.
Rare cruisemom42 Posted November 10, 2022 #3 Share Posted November 10, 2022 I'm generally not in a rush to board, so by the time I do I can almost always go check out my cabin.
Rare Hlitner Posted November 10, 2022 #4 Share Posted November 10, 2022 Assuming we can get into our cabin (this varies by cruise line) we immediately go to our cabin to drop our carry-on stuff and lock valuables in the safe. Then it is off to lunch. On ships that have an alternative to their Lido, we will seek out one of the alternatives for that first lunch since the Lido tends to be a zoo on embarkation day. On Princess we generally go to Alfredoss/Gigis for pizza or pasta. On HAL there is usually lunch in one of the MDRs. If on MSC (Yacht Club) we just go to the Yacht Club's own restaurant. And so it goes. Hank
Rare Mary229 Posted November 10, 2022 #5 Share Posted November 10, 2022 Cabin, unpack secure items, watch muster video, go to muster station, find a munchie to hold me until dinner. We don’t try to board early so we usually skip lunch. Then we tour the ship
pf778c Posted November 10, 2022 #6 Share Posted November 10, 2022 Check in at Reception and stash my carry-on in the closet while I have lunch. After that, suites are officially "available", and it's time to crack open the champagne to keep me fortified while I unpack, meet my butler and cabin attendant, and watch the muster video. Once that's done, it's time for the muster briefing, and then the cruise is fully underway! I usually cruise with the same line where the entire fleet follows the same layout, so no touring necessary; it's like returning to a vacation home. Sigh. Reminiscing on this has made me overly aware of just how much I NEED a cruise right now! 2
Rare Essiesmom Posted November 10, 2022 #7 Share Posted November 10, 2022 Head to cabin to drop off carryon. Check in at muster station. Grab a snack if necessary. Back to cabin to unpack, then take a nap. Yeah, I’m an old lady. EM 3

rkacruiser Posted November 10, 2022 #9 Share Posted November 10, 2022 I. If cabin is available, drop off carry-on. Then, a quick read of the daily program to help me plan the afternoon/rest of the day, maybe. 2. Make any spa appointments I want. 3. Arrange for a wine package. 4. Lunch (hopefully in the MDR) 5. Return to cabin and begin to unpack. 6. With the new Muster Drill procedure, I will need to work it in somewhere.

On my current cruise, which I happen to be returning from right now, the first thing that happened is I was escorted to my muster station (the main theater) by an officer. I didn't expect that and don't expect it to ever happen again. YMMV.
Mike981 Posted November 12, 2022 #19 Share Posted November 12, 2022 Take a deep breath and relax. I do all of the planning so I feel a lot of pressure. Once we are on board, most of my work is done.

evandbob Posted November 16, 2022 #23 Share Posted November 16, 2022 With priority boarding on most lines, or what passes for priority these days, we generally got to our cabin and drop off our carry on luggage (most cruises). Then a quick stop at muster check in, followed by a lunch at a not so crowded venue.

DirtyDawg Posted November 19, 2022 #25 Share Posted November 19, 2022 The first thing I do after I take that first step onto the ship is I take a second step. All that other stuff, martinis, dropping off luggage, peeing etc. is way down the line after many more steps. 1
