What's the first thing you do when you get on board your ship?

Assuming we can get into our cabin (this varies by cruise line) we immediately go to our cabin to drop our carry-on stuff and lock valuables in the safe.  Then it is off to lunch.  On ships that have an alternative to their Lido, we will seek out one of the alternatives for that first lunch since the Lido tends to be a zoo on embarkation day.  On Princess we generally go to Alfredoss/Gigis for pizza or pasta.  On HAL there is usually lunch in one of the MDRs.   If on MSC (Yacht Club) we just go to the Yacht Club's own restaurant.  And so it goes.

Check in at Reception and stash my carry-on in the closet while I have lunch.  After that, suites are officially "available", and it's time to crack open the champagne to keep me fortified while I unpack, meet my butler and cabin attendant, and watch the muster video.  Once that's done, it's time for the muster briefing, and then the cruise is fully underway!  I usually cruise with the same line where the entire fleet follows the same layout, so no touring necessary; it's like returning to a vacation home.

Sigh.  Reminiscing on this has made me overly aware of just how much I NEED a cruise right now!

I.  If cabin is available, drop off carry-on.  Then, a quick read of the daily program to help me plan the afternoon/rest of the day, maybe.

2.  Make any spa appointments I want.

3.  Arrange for a wine package.

4.  Lunch (hopefully in the MDR)

5.  Return to cabin and begin to unpack.

6.  With the new Muster Drill procedure, I will need to work it in somewhere.

We cruise on Celebrity.

We like to board as early as possible.

Go to stateroom and drop off carryons.

Go to dining room and check our assigned table location .

Go to spa and reserve our free Persian Gardens day pass ( Captains Club benefit)

Get lunch at buffet and set up internet.

Walk around the ship, check in at muster drill station.

Drink and smoke at Sunset bar until sailaway!

December 1 on Equinox !  Can't wait!

On my current cruise, which I happen to be returning from right now, the first thing that happened is I was escorted to my muster station (the main theater) by an officer. I didn't expect that and don't expect it to ever happen again. YMMV.

With priority boarding on most lines, or what passes for priority these days, we generally got to our cabin and drop off our carry on luggage (most cruises).

Then a quick stop at muster check in, followed by a lunch at a not so crowded venue.
