denmarks Posted December 24, 2019 #1 Share Posted December 24, 2019 Princess requires that you watch a safety video staring the current Love Boat cast and theme. If you do not watch the entire video the TV will not allow you to select anything. What do you think of the idea? It duplicates much of the muster drill. bemis12 Posted December 24, 2019 #2 Share Posted December 24, 2019 It’s not particularly long, nor bothersome.
Thrak Posted December 24, 2019 #3 Share Posted December 24, 2019 (edited) It's a minor annoyance. I've already been to muster so I've heard the stuff and don't really want to listen to it again. No big deal. I just run it with the sound muted. Edited December 24, 2019 by Thrak
EDDY0827 Posted December 24, 2019 #4 Share Posted December 24, 2019 It's a great multi-tasking activity. It is playing in the background when we first get into the cabin and continues playing like white noise in the background as we get acquainted with Stewart and the cabin, read our various papers and head out to lunch. Hardly even notice it.
vampiress Posted December 24, 2019 #5 Share Posted December 24, 2019 oh, is this new? because my recent mexician riviera cruise on the royal did not have this. but it was playing constantly on the default channel when you turned on the tv. seems easy enough to turn on tv, go do something and when you come back it is done.

It is funny and shows our safety is important to Princess. A good idea imo.
skynight Posted December 24, 2019 #7 Share Posted December 24, 2019 Nothing wrong with seeing the information more than once. Just let it run when you enter the cabin.
GUT2407 Posted December 24, 2019 #8 Share Posted December 24, 2019 Personally I think that it should default to needing to watch it again each morning. 4

Dobby_The_Ship_Elf Posted December 24, 2019 #10 Share Posted December 24, 2019 The audio of the video is what is used during the mustard drill, including bad jokes and puns. And if you do a B2B they reset the entertainment system and you get to enjoy it all over again before you can watch tv
avonlady6390 Posted December 24, 2019 #11 Share Posted December 24, 2019 I was just on the sky last week and it wasn't playing on my t.v. like in the past. Munster didn't have the vocals either.
Rare Itchy&Scratchy Posted December 25, 2019 #12 Share Posted December 25, 2019 oh, it played on Regal Thanksgiving week. Pretty annoying for the kid who couldn't wait for it to be over.

The former person is held in the highest regard by all cruise passengers. Famously, Stewart is known to have said: “I will leave no room unclean.” 1
satxdiver Posted December 25, 2019 #16 Share Posted December 25, 2019 I turn on the TV to the safety briefing and then use the bathroom, unpack my suitcase and relax. The video has played and now I can see the regular TV programming. Not a big issue to me.

turquoisesea Posted December 25, 2019 #18 Share Posted December 25, 2019 There were two TVs in our cabin on the Ruby in August and you had to run in on both TVs for each one to work. It was short and I enjoyed the Love Boat music! 😂

Turn on the tv when you first drop your carry on bags in the cabin. Go to lunch. Problem solved. This isn't the Princess Clockwork Orange, where they duct tape you to a chair, prop you eyelids open with toothpicks, and force you to watch. With regard to the video, and the current muster drill --- it should be something to be take seriously, and yet princess has dumbed it down to a second grade level. Well done, Princess.
Rare Coral Posted December 25, 2019 #20 Share Posted December 25, 2019 (edited) They say no kids have died in a fire in a school in the US due to schools doing fire drills all the time (recently). There is something to be said for repetitive learning. Not a big deal. Doesn't take that long. May save lives. GottaLuvCruising Posted December 25, 2019 #22 Share Posted December 25, 2019 I wasn't aware of this new annoyance when we boarded Sky Dec 1st. It drove me nuts as I could figure out how to get to TV options. Now that I know, I'll turn it on and let it play while we are on the balcony (NOT when I am anxious to catch the news!) kywildcatfanone Posted December 25, 2019 #23 Share Posted December 25, 2019 Yep, first 2 things I do when I get to the room are to turn on tv and play video on mute and call room service to swap mini bar.
rocklinmom Posted December 25, 2019 #24 Share Posted December 25, 2019 Love the video! At least it's entertaining. We like to listen to it as we unpack anyway.
MissP22 Posted December 25, 2019 #25 Share Posted December 25, 2019 Simple- turn on the TV & go to lunch & let the silly show complete it's run. No one listens to it anyway.
