Like you, I have some luck with their items. Regarding their pricing watch for coupons. Once you buy something on-line from them, they send them 2 times a year. She just got one, if she spends $130 she gets $60 off.

I received a $50 off card after buying some cargo shorts. I will use that.

Our outside lights are up. Put them up early last week when we had a warm spell. Going to be much colder this coming week and next.

I know this is not the norm but I like putting up the outside decorations in cold weather. Puts me in the Christmas mood. And I usually wait until sunset so I'll start the daylight and finish in the dark. Frequent breaks to go inside to warm up and drink hot chocolate (or something a little stronger) ensure it takes me 4x longer than it should.

I know, I'm weird. But it's tradition.  The only thing that messes me up is an early snow or hard frost that leaves the ground so frozen, the stakes bend when pounding them into the ground.

However we won't be turning on the outside lights till Thanksgiving Night.

One of my neighbors had his house fully decorated - inside and out - since mid-October.  House ablaze with lights since then. Odd seeing the snowmen  next to pumpkins and blow-up Santa next to blow-up Grim Reaper.

Maybe he was going for the "Nightmare before Christmas" theme?

I've had good luck with the brand, and I like the style, which is why I end up buying it a lot.  They are good for an upscale casual look in Florida.  They are definitely pricey but hold up well for me for many years, so I get my money's worth from them.  I currently have shorts, bathing suits, short and long sleeved t-shirts, polo style shirts, Hawaiian style shirts, and now a sweat shirt.  I've bought several items on trips so they end up being souvenirs.  One of my Hawaiian shirts for example was purchased in St. Maarten on our last cruise so I will remember that when I wear it.  Wrinkling can definitely be a problem since they're often all cotton, silk, or linen.  I prefer the feel of the natural fibers though.  I roll when I pack, which helps with wrinkles.

I either roll or place plastic between folded items and I try never to buy anything linen.  It wrinkles when you just look at it!

@singinalot  So sorry to hear about the loss of your grandmother.  It's extra shocking when something like that happens so suddenly and unexpectedly.

The close bond you have with her shows thru the pictures.  Eventually, the sad memories will turn into happy memories  I especially love the expression of your grandmothers face when cutting her wedding cake and the one in the collage where she's reclined on the couch and Nate on the floor. Presumable watching  TV.....or watching the inside of their eyelids.

When I was 12 I read in a magazine that massaging warm olive oil into your cuticles was a good idea.  I poured some in a pot, put it on the stove on “High,” left the kitchen and promptly forgot about it.  (I was 12.)  My mother saw the pot aflame and not knowing it was oil in the pot she threw it in the sink and turned on the faucets.  It blazed up and set the curtains on fire.

My mother and I started to act like chickens with our heads cut off and ran around grabbing things to take out of the house.  My 8 year old brother went next door, borrowed a fire extinguisher from our neighbors and put out the fire.  Afterwards I looked in horror at the kitchen.  Everything was covered in a thick layer of white goo…the curtains were charred tatters, the ceiling was black with soot and the kitchen smelled like burned kitchen.  My father was going to come home and he would walk through the kitchen to go to the study to relax and read his paper.  (He was a cardio-thoracic surgeon.)  I couldn’t imagine what he was going to say.

My mother said “Don’t say anything; he won’t notice.”  What?!?!  How could he not notice?!?!  He did not notice.

Thankfully, nobody was hurt but oh what we gals go through for soft cuticles!

I’m not really sure what I have missed since Tuesday: I know I was tagged in something but I have not read it yet. I just wanted to check in while I’m sitting in the Atlanta airport. It has been one of the worst weeks.

my grandma (I have posted about visiting her several times here) went in for a normal stint procedure on Monday and somehow was gone by Wednesday morning. Tuesday night I had booked a ticket when we were told she was stable. In the middle of that night she declined and was sedated and put on a ventilator. My sister, thank god, was with her when she passed. I was on the plane and received the devastating news via text.

most of our family was able to make it and we had a family celebration on Friday night and family and dear friends Saturday.

ive been on auto pilot and really just raw but looking forward to being back home with hubby and doggy.

we will still keep our already booked flights for January and go to help with the estate sale that we will likely hold then.

cheers to you all and thanks for being my dear cc friends ❤️

I’m so sorry!!  My maternal grandparents were so wonderful to me.  When my last grandparent died I was so sad.  I said “No one will ever love me like that.”  My husband said “Honey, I love you.”  I said “Not like that.”  😢

@reallyitsmema

Joining all of the above in the relief that your family and your house are OK.

We also never leave anything electric on when we are not home, and when we leave for a cruise, disconnect our computers, TV, etc. too.

Have an enjoyable cruise. We've enjoyed Allure very much, especially Mama Mia 😁

We did see Mama Mia on broadway looking forward to seeing it on allure , our last rccl cruise was oasis so we are familiar with the ship. Booked a grand suite but have a couple royal up bids pending, we have lots of perks between suite and being diamond plus. Will try to post a little but do not have the patience or talent of Seadog or the other talented posters . About to do some drinking to morn my Buffalo Bills loss.

Pat, what Covid test is your sister giving you and Bucky?

It's one she does online through a lab.  She has the test kit, will pull up the face to face with her administrating the test to both of us.  She is an infectious disease doctor...specialist.  Pretty qualified.  😉

And just to be sure, she researched what RCI requires and told me it was in line with what they need.

Crystal I’m so sorry for your loss. I know how hard it hurts to not be there. Same thing happened to me and my dad. Please know that she kept you in her heart and is at peace. I wish for you and your family to have comfort in knowing she is at peace with her maker. God bless your family.

Well my first blip with CC trying to post, let's see what if anything gets posted.  Had quoted a few other posts and now can't find so just commenting.

My dad was a photographer during WW2 where he took pics of many soldiers, dignitaries, and USO shows including the girls.  One of the USO girls had a unique name he took a liking to, April.  No she was never his girlfriend, at least that's his story, but anyway he remembered the name which is how I got my name.  My middle name comes from an aunt.

As for fires, after the war my dad ended up in the appliance business, I learned from an early age to never leave anything running when not home.  Of course it was my dad who after my mom passed when he was living on his own, left a pot of oil on the stove and forgot it.  He lost his kitchen and the rest of the house filled with smoke.  No he didn't have a fire extinguisher, we do.

Crystal, so sorry to hear about your grandmother.  As I just said to someone else, it is hard enough to lose a loved one, but unexpectedly around the holidays in tough.  Prayers for you and the family.
