Bizmark'sMom Posted August 30, 2019 #2 Share Posted August 30, 2019 Enjoying a tasty beverage on my aft balcony while reading a book and watching the ocean. I'll join trivia once in a while, and attend lectures by historians and scientists if that's an option. Otherwise, the ship is a floating hotel room.
denmarks Posted August 30, 2019 #3 Share Posted August 30, 2019 I usually go to the morning and afternoon trivia.

Rare mom says Posted August 30, 2019 #6 Share Posted August 30, 2019 Daytime- attending any lectures that may be of interest, trivia, and relaxing with a book and a beverage. Evening- show in the theatre if it seems interesting, live music in the lounges, dance party if there is one.

cb at sea Posted August 31, 2019 #12 Share Posted August 31, 2019 We don't really partake of "activities"....we do our own thing. Not into bingo, or art talks, or shopping suggestions.... We have been known to play a game of pool (on ships with pool tables) or putt-putt golf....but some time in the casino, or time at the pool....in between meals and on shore things....I mean, we're on VACATION! I bring a couple good books....some music. It's all good!

ilikeanswers Posted August 31, 2019 #14 Share Posted August 31, 2019 (edited) I have an insatiable curiosity so I love a good lecture and I don't mind a cooking class in local cuisine. When I was on a freighter cruise we would go up to the top deck and watch the cargo being loaded and unloaded. Otherwise I like to just sit on the balcony and admire the scenery. KBS1607 Posted August 31, 2019 #16 Share Posted August 31, 2019 I like trivia also. And any ship tours- the galley on the Regal Princess was amazing to see. I’ve done the Ultimate Ship Tour also.

cruizergal70 Posted August 31, 2019 #18 Share Posted August 31, 2019 A great activity is lounging about listening to books on tape. Great way to catch up on reading and you can listen anywhere like in the gym, walking to and fro, etc.
marco Posted August 31, 2019 #19 Share Posted August 31, 2019 P and O , and Cunard both organise passengers' choirs, followed by a public performance. We were on a Princess cruise and they did this. A freind of ours participated and he said he would not do it again. Too many rehearsals scheduled at times he'd rather be doing something else. Rare mom says Posted August 31, 2019 #22 Share Posted August 31, 2019 Interesting responses so far. And yet.... with all of the mega ships and their "floating amusement parks" NO ONE has mentioned rock climbing walls, flow riders, slides, zip lining, or ice skating. So maybe they aren't quite the magnets the cruise lines hoped they'd be?

How many people these days even know what a chapbook is, let alone want to bring them on cruises? The PP was responding to a post about books on tape.
